I began my journey almost a year ago as far as the planning. I am 50 years old as of October and made the decision I was tired of being overweight and health problems were beginning to stack up and I just needed help. I was like everyone else and tried all the crazy diets out there! Nothing would work. I had to switch surgeons in the middle of it due to my surgeon did not have priveleges at the hospital I work at and did not look like he was going to get them anytime soon. I had been with that office for ten months already doing all my preliminary work. I interviewed two other surgeons and chose the one that best fit me. I began my preop prep on December 1 starting at 213 pounds. I had my gastric sleeve and hiatel hernia repair on December 15 at Medical City in Dallas. Since then, I am down 35 pounds as of now. I am now stuck for the last two weeks despite beginning to exercise again and working on getting my required 100 gm of protein in daily. My fluids are another struggle. I keep on going daily, but I have to say that it is a little frustrating not seeing the scale move for two weeks now! My goal overall is 80 pound total for my surgery. I feel better and definitely can see it in my clothes, though I have not bought anything new yet! I am waiting until a little more weight comes off. My scrubs have drawstrings and can tighten up just fine until then! I was searching for support groups and found this site!
