  1. My nutritionist also said to shoot for 1,000 but more importantly, get at least 75g of protein.
  2. I am nine days out after surgery and only down two pounds. I lost about 10 by day four, then gained eight in the last few days. I am following guidelines to a tee. Any thoughts?

    March 2015 Sleevers

Hi Natalie! Thanks for posting - I was starting to feel like I was doing something really wrong - or something was weird with my body. I'm going to continue to be hopeful - keep me posted as to how you are doing

    March 2015 Sleevers

@Naloyets I lost most of that over a year and almost 20 lbs during the pre-op diet (nothing but diabetic boost for two weeks). Since surgery I have lost three pounds. But I am feeling like you - wondering what's wrong with me when I see people losing 12 - 18 lbs in the first week. I really am hoping it's just a premature stall. Did you have the same experience with losing weight pre-op?

    March 2015 Sleevers

Hi there Naloyets - I was sleeved on the same day and have exactly the same problem I spoke to the nutritionist and she explained that I may be a slow loser or may expect to plateau a lot. I did lose close to 20 lbs during my pre-op diet, so I am choosing to think I hit a plateau and that next week the scale will start moving again

    March 2015 Sleevers

Hi Folks! I had my surgery March 4 - hiatus hernia repair too. i was having problems the first day after surgery getting down liquid, and had to spend an extra day in hospital. Ever since then, I've been feeling fabulous and counting down the days until I can get back in the pool. My only concern is that I'm not really losing weight. I've been reading of people dropping 10-15 pounds in the first week and I only lost 2 lbs. I'm following the nutritionist's directions to the letter, but find it was coming off a lot faster pre-op. Anyone else having similar problems? (Although I am happy to be losing anything at all )
  7. Thanks Folks - I'll calm down a bit. As you said, I am still on liquids. Hopefully, If I continue to stick to the plan, I'll see the success you have!
  8. Being so excited about having the surgery, I think I've told everyone. I wasn't aware that ignorant people would provide negative feedback and so far, so good.

    March Sleevers

I hear you Spicy06! I haven't had my period in a year (I'm 46) and it decided to visit me this past week, with surgery tomorrow. I've been doing a lot of hiding in my room in the evenings so I don't hurt anyone's feelings with my crankiness The rest of the day is a different matter - lol.
  11. Hi Candice, I'm so sorry you are depressed. I understand it is very common when you've made such big changes in your life, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with. I think that by reaching out here you are taking a positive step. I've struggled with depression for many years and am lucky enough to have professional help. My therapist tells me that when I am starting to feel depressed, the best thing I can do is exercise and spend time being engaged with other people. It's very difficult to do when I am sad but always helps.

    GERD & the sleeve

I had a call from my doc asking me if I wanted to change my mind and switch to an RNY because she discovered a hiatus hernia after a barium swallow test. Although I've never really had any GERD problems to date, I had to give it some serious consideration. Ultimately I decided the sleeve was still the best option for me (I have anemia and arthritis) and am hoping I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't encounter this problem.
  13. I'm 46 and having my surgery in four days. I was telling a friend yesterday that at any other point in my life I wouldn't have been emotionally ready to do this. I finally love myself enough to make some drastic changes for the better, that includes WLS
  14. I'm 46 and ready to live the rest of my life a healthier me. Having my surgery on March 4, but am already pleased with the changes I've made pre-op.
  15. I keep dreaming about eating and waking up in a panic. I don't recall dreaming so vividly about food before.
  16. I'm on day four of two weeks of diabetic boost only diet (plus all the Water I can drink, lol). I'm having fun making smoothies with them by mixing in ice and a couple of drops of flavouring. So far the chocolate with mint is my favourite.

Where are all the Canadians ?

Hi Folks! I'm from Winnipeg, having the sleeve surgery on March 3 (starting the pre-surgery diet this wednesday). I am nervous and excited to begin my new life. Glad to meet some fellow Canadians on here!
  19. Hey everyone! I'm scheduled for March 3 and am both excited for my new life and nervous of the surgery. Seeing all of the success stories in here really helps with the nerves. I am also so grateful that people are very honest with what to expect post surgery.

    Who Are You?

Hi folks! My name is Maxine, and I am a single mom with a 24 year-old son that I'm pretty proud of. I'm currently not working but do take care of my elderly parents, with whom I live. I have a huge family, with five brothers and sisters and tons of nieces and nephews who I adore. I've been overweight pretty much my entire life and am both excited and terrified of the journey on which I am soon to embark.
  22. Hi Kim! So glad I saw your post, as I am having a lot of the same fears. I am so terrified something will happen during surgery, even though I'm pretty healthy to begin with. My surgery is March 3. There is a part of me that is scared but there is also excitement that in a year or so I'll be able to take part in many activities that I can't right now.
