Do you think the heat may cause you to retain water? Are you drinking enough to make up for more perspiration? Are more calories or carbs sneaking in?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yes, it's completely normal, and very important to sneak up on that sweet spot. Do your best, stick to the rules as well as you can, and muster up more patience than you may ever have needed in your life. If you need to eat more, best to do it in smaller amounts more often than to stretch your pouch with a larger meal. You have had that tantalizing experience of what the band can do, it's like a promise for the future. You are building the foundation for that now. Hang in there and keep the faith!

I have a question about Daily Plate: I see where you can add a whole serving of something to your intake, but is there a way you can tell them you only ate half of it? Three meatballs instead of six, for example?

What else would you enjoy doing, that moves your body? My mom started belly dancing classes in her 70's and loved it!

Just so you realize, only 33 of that is post-band. You have lost almost twice what I have, in that time. Make a commitment to yourself to stay on track until you get to goal. Nothing you can eat is as gratifying as a lower number on the scale. When faced with temptation, ask yourself: Am I trading what I really want, for what I want right now? You can do this!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

First, welcome! I've heard it isn't good to lie down too soon after eating. I've also heard that if you lie on your right side, it facilitates the emptying of your stomach. I can't do that, because it makes my hip hurt, so I haven't tried it. Also, can you find a way to elevate the head of your bed a bit? That might help, too. I recently heard there is an inflatable device you can buy to put under your mattress, that can blow up and elevate your head. I believe it ran about $150, but I don't remember the name of it. I have a Craftmatic adjustable bed that I just love, and I ramp it up if I drink Water at night, so it won't back up on me. Finally, this would be a good thing to discuss with your doctor, just to make sire everything is okay. Best of luck to you, Orea

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

The purpose of the band is not restriction nor to force you to change how you eat because you'll barf. The purpose is to dim the appetite so you can more easily make wise choices and eat less. The rest is up to you.

You are absolutely right, but keep in mind that 10 pounds in 3 months isn't far off the 1-2 pounds a week we bandsters average.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

1-2 pounds a week is the normal and expected weight loss with the band. But if you are like me, your body pauses for several weeks, then drops it fast for a bit. I don't think your amount of weight loss has anything to do with when or whether to schedule a fill. For me, it is strictly about am I comfortable, am I struggling with hunger soon after my meal, do I have the urge to graze. Am I losing 1-2 pounds a week over time. Talk to your doctor and decide with him or her. Good luck! Orea

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Most people find the band helps with reflux.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

The purpose of the band is not restriction. It is not supposed to force you to eat less. It is supposed to dim your appetite. You are responsible for choosing good foods and stopping at the appropriate amount. (Which I am still working on!) Restriction or no, reflux and regurgitating, and even a need to clear your throat a lot, are classic signs of being too tight, and left uncorrected can lead to a slip.

Interesting. Most people get tighter during TOM. Just goes to show how different we really are.
