  1. Got APPROVED for surgery today!!! On cloud nine!!! I have to wait an entire month before I get to meet with the surgeon but that is nothing after waiting so long to just know there is a change in sight!!!
  2. Well I seen my pcp today and she looked through all of the reports that I needed for approval and she doesn't seem to think there is going to be a problem getting approved! She submitted all paperwork today and said I should hear something in the next few days! So needless to say I'm on pins and needles!! I will most certainly keep ya updated!!
  3. I cant thank the two of you enough for the advice! I am looking up pre - morbidity diseases right now. It helps having people to talk to while going through the grueling process of getting approved. I know own my health is not good due to my weight. I have a hard time breathing and the whole pre diabetes and high cholesterol takes its toll on me. I see that migraines is on that list if pre morbidity diseases as well and I suffer from those and am on meds for them. So fingers crossed!! I just want to get back to being healthy again!! It's been a long 15 years of dealing with weight issues and I am just so ready to get back on track. Thank you ladies!! And donnag53 I will be looking forward to an update that you receive approval!! ????
  4. It's very upsetting to me about my sleep study as well!! When I went for the study I was so very uncomfortable and didn't sleep a wink until right before I had to leave. I got under 2 hours of sleep in the early morning hours. When I went for my follow up & explained to the doc that I didn't sleep, he told me I did sleep and that the only time I had sleep apnea was in the early morning hours. I stopped breathing 8 times an hour. He said I only stopped 1 time an hour preceding that... I tried explaining to him that, that was when I didn't sleep but he insisted that I did. He explained that I need to lose weight to get rid of the issue I have but don't need the cpap machine. I wonder if it's possible to get a 2 nd opinion. I was so very nervous because my study was done at the docs office, not a hospital or anything and there was only a man (stranger) outside my unlocked bedroom. I have had a bad feeling about this ever since but now reading your posts it is making me re-think taking his word for it. I don't have high bp in fact I used to have very low bp but now it seems to be perfect all of the time. I only have the pre diabetes, high cholesterol (but not on meds for) and asthma which I do take meds for.
  5. Hi mcclayne I am 5'5 and I believe my bmi is like 36. It is SO inspiring to hear that you were approved!!! Congrats on being 19 days post op! I cant wait to see how it works for me. Getting excited to hear if I get approval!

Yeah I was wondering because so many people have had different orders from their surgeons regarding the pre-op diet... Congrats on all of your weight loss so far and keep up the good work!!

    Excited

Wow! Thank you! I just looked over his website so I am going to mention this to my Doc. Their website alone is very informational! And it's great to hear from someone who has already gone through this and is happy with the surgery and the outcome. Thanks again for the advice! @@mindytaylor08 I haven't been approved for the surgery yet myself so I haven't lost anything.

Is your Aetna an h. m. o.? I live in So Cal and also have Aetna and have pre -diabetes and high cholesterol (both I'm not on meds for at this time) but have been in the past. I found out at my sleep study that I do not need the cpap machine but that when I hit rem sleep I stop breathing 8 x's a minute and to stop this I need to lose weight... So I'm just trying to find anybody else who has my kind of insurance to see how difficult it was to get approved. I'm done with my psych evaluation, sleep study, my NUT visit and my primary care doctor is on board with the surgery... Any advice on how difficult it is to get approved?
  11. I am new to this sight. I live In Riverside CA and am still in the pre-op stages. I have Aetna insurance (hmo) and am just waiting to see if I get to meet with the surgeon and the suspense is killing me! I met with the NUT and she agreed the surgery would be of assistance to me, my primary Care physician is on board, I have had my psych evaluation and the clinition agreed that I was suitable for the surgery. However my sleep apnea test came back that I don't need a cpap machine but that when I hit rem sleep that I stop breathing 8 times an hour and so I need to lose weight to solve that problem. I am pre - diabetic and have elevated cholesterol (on no meds for it though) and so I'm just curious if anybody around here has had a situation similar to mine and if they were approved or not? Any input is appreciated.... I cant seem to find anybody who has aetna from So Cal

    AETNA SoCal ***

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and this is my first post. Was just wondering if anybody on here has Aetna so-cal H. M. O. and if so could they share their stories on the journey to approval. I have my primary care physician on board, met with my NUT and she approved, had my psych evaluation and she approved, had my sleep study and was told I didn't need the cpap machine but when I hit REM sleep in the early morning hours, I stop breathing 8x's an hour and so my oxygen decreases during this time and to solve this issue I will need to lose weight. I am 36, 5'5 and weigh 225 (at my heaviest I was 245). I am pre-diabetic, and have high cholesterol (but not on meds at this time, but have been in the past). I am on meds for asthma. I am waiting to meet with the surgeon and to find out of they will approve the surgery. So my question is this, for anybody who has a similar situation as mine, how hard was it to gain approval? Is there anybody who has the same insurance that can shed some light on how difficult or easy it may be to get approval? Just trying to gain some knowledge and advice during the waiting game so any feedback would be very much appreciated.
