@@Butterfly85 I swear our situation mirrors each others so much, lol!! I too have only lost 7 lbs, and Tuesday will be 1 week from surgery. I feel the same as you, patience, it's not a race or anything our body will shed it at its own pace. The main thing is, it's shedding, lol! I too have the weird sound as when I sip and have short bursts of pain as I sip, I wish I knew how long something like that is supposed to last. I'm sure it will ease up with time since each day seems to be better than the last. I guess it just takes time and patience {{sigh}} lol! Hope all goes well for you too and you are having a happy Easter!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

Hi CrystalWise84 that's terrible you had to get dehydrated! I worry because I'm not getting enough, I know it. I finally installed this 'hydrate' app on my phone telling it how many oz of water I need in a day and set the reminder to have me drink every 10 mins. to get me on track. Each day I consider is a progress. Today I as well feel pain free enough to not use the pain meds. So hoping that lasts all day. It's a challenge to get used to my pouch though. It gradually has gotten better and easier to deal with but I'm still at that point where I have to wonder how much is too much and what some of these feelings are telling me. For instance I woke up this morning and it felt like I had a great big bubble in the middle of my chest. Trying to figure out if that's gas or what?? Lol!! I guess time will give us all the answers we seek. GL o Hope you can keep yourself hydrated going forward, it's so very important!
  4. @@yoyolie I have read and heard from other sleeves that they too felt exactly as you have. I would feel very grateful if I were in your shoes. I was so hoping I would get to be like that, but it just didn't turn out that way for me... Lol
  5. Well now that I have gotten my day started, I'm seeing the same thing. The chest issue has gotten way better. I can actually sip my water and am fine for the most part. I'm doing the same, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, sip, sip.... Lol!! But it does make a difference. I'm just so thankful that today has been a difference from the other days!!!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

So HAPPY for you!!!! It inspires me that I will get there, just have to be patient. Really my biggest issue is this chest issue. Now that I'm up moving around I'm noticing that when I sip water it isn't as bad as yesterday, so that's a good sign! Walking in the right direction at least!

    Oh good....
  8. I can tell you @@amchurch12000 my liquid intake is getting lower and lower and it's worrying me because I have so much pain every sip I take. Hang in there and just push yourself. I see my doc on Monday and if no better I'm going to see what I can do about this.

    Surgery 3/31

Oh no @@amchurch12000 you should eat seeing your doctor immediately. You don't want to end up being sick while you are also trying to heal, or worse yet end up with pneumonia! Have you checked for fevers?? Definitely go see your doc. GL and keep us posted!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

Wow @@1SlimmerMe I just woke up this morning and took a sip of water and just kept feeling it. I sat here wondering is this ever going to go away, and sure enough seen your post. One more supporter showing me I'm not alone. Thank God it is getting better for you, hopefully that means mine will be feeling better soon as well.
  11. O think as much as we want to know Amie2790, it's better for us if we don't buy a scale, lol! I know that if I owned one I would be watching it daily and getting depressed if it didn't move. I plan on working out a lot after I recoup so I know I will be building muscle and that will make the scale not move as much at times buy I will still lose inches, and ultimately that's what I want to see anyway. My post op is Monday so I will update u on what my scale said then. Hopefully it will be some what of a decent loss. Lol!! Good luck!! We've already conquered one goal and that was to have the surgery! I cant tell you how long it has been that I have even been able to see a minus in my weight so even though it was only 7 lbs pre -op I'm forcing myself to be OK with it because it wasn't a plus, it was a negative. I will take any negative I can get at this point, lol!! Can't wait to hear how your post op goes!! GL!!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

It helps SO MUCH to hear that many of you feel the same pain in your chest as I do. I have asthma as well and have been pretty freaked out lately about it. But since it is seeming more, and more like this is a common issue I'm able to put my mind at ease and wait for my doc app. On Monday instead of quite possibly putting money out on an ER visit.

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

@@jenna777 I began reading your post and had to scroll back up to make sure it wasn't my post, lol! Aside from the hernia my journey has been identical to yours. I am really worrying about the chest pain but am trying to give it about 2 more days, if it doesn't go away by then I'm at least going to go up to the hospital and have it checked out. Let me know if yours gets any better. @@liannatx it's encouraging to know I'm not the only one at day 4 who hasn't had a bowel movement. That too I'm giving till Sunday and then if no bowel movement then getting that checked as well. But u2 ladies just took my fears down a notch at least. Thank you and the best of luck!!

    Hair Loss

Well I have not hit this issue yet, given my surgery was just on 3/31/15 but from everything I'm reading its being said that nioxin does the trick. It is advised to cancer patients that are on chemo to use nioxin due to the loss of hair so I'm going to try it out!

    Lets talk gas...

And does anybody have any suggestions on what I should get to help with the gas? Since so many people are saying gas-X really isn't helpful...

    Lets talk gas...

I'm happy I found this blog, I am 4 days post-op and I also finally released my first bouts of gas today. My pain is so much in my center to left side, almost where my heart and left lung is, but it's been feeling good to release it whether it's through the attic or the basement, lol! I've also been dealing with terrible heart burn.... But I guess that's what I signed up for... I'm just curious as to when the rough stuff subsides and the enjoyment begins?

    Dr Coon Riverside, Ca

Have u felt any of the tiredness everybody seems to be having after surgery? Or any of the gas pains?? I got sleeved on 3/31/15 by Dr. Coon and I do feel good, I have more energy today than I've had in a long time. I've been able to get down about 4oz. Of liquids for breakfast lunch and dinner...and getting my water intake. But I'm having a very tough time with gas and the gurgle that comes along with every sip I take. So just curious how many oz. U are able to get down and what you have felt so far.
  18. So for me I've been doing really good at getting my water intake. I LOVE water! I realized my problem was that even though I thought I was taking small sips, I must have been taking too large of sips. Because once I took smaller sips, I stopped feeling nauseous after them. Still very gassy, still feel a lot of pain in my left to center side of my chest. Hoping that goes away soon. Also I still get rough heart burn often but I'm hoping that the worst of that will subside in the future. Ironically I have had more energy today than I have had in a very long time. I've been getting down at least 4 Oz chicken broth, 2oz. Of jello, 4oz. Chocolate carnation breakfast, and my water intake. But I am constantly sipping something every couple minutes thru the day and night. My actual wounds are healing up nicely and I think they should be healed up well by next week. I head back to work on Monday so I'm hoping I skip the extreme tiredness portion I see so many of you have. I guess if I get it I will have to do half days next week, just hoping I can do full cuz I'm looking forward to spending some extra money on clothes!! ???? Have any of you weighed yourself since surgery day? I lost 7 lbs just from being on the pre op diet for 4 days preceding the surgery, so I'm curious at what rate I will lose after. I don't own a scale so I can't really weigh myself right now.

    Surgery 3/31

How are any other March 31st sleevers holding up? I feel like I'm doing OK, wound wise, gas is miserable so going to go get some gas X IN a bit. It's taking a bit of getting used to the gurgling feeling that comes about every swallow of liquid I take. And the heartburn too. But I'm praying that issue will subside some as I heal.
  20. Thank you @ Butterfly85 You are so correct, we really do need each other for support! I have moments where I'm so excited and feel good that I'm not eating anything but liquids, then there are moments when I smell or see the food my husband is making and I just go crazy cuz it looks and smells so good that I just want 1 bite!! Just 1!!! Lol! But I know that I cant give in, that's the whole point of this tool, to help change eating habits!!
  21. PS. Thank you so much for the support! I'm out here with just my hubby and he works daily, and the rest of my entire family live in a different state.
  22. You all are right. I think as time passes I will be able to get more fluids in. I am walking when I can, taking my fuzzy babies out for walks and stuff, and the gas pain is there a little but I'm feeling it subside some so that's good. It's just getting used to the fluids going down and the heartburn and nausea go with it. I know all of this is for a good cause though!! ????
  23. I know!! I pushed hard for them to let me come home last night and in so doing I now am in so so much pain... I don't feel like drinking my fluids this morning but I know I have to....
  24. Yeah my headache comes and goes too. I've been able to get some ice chips down, about 3oz of chicken broth and am now sipping on about an oz of tea. Not too bad, aside from the heart burn its giving me and I've been having a pain in my chest (left side) so they are calling the doc about that.
  25. GL everybody!!? Omw to the hospital now!! ????
