I am 5'6-5'7 and weigh 235ish. I do not have any of the typical co-morbidities most places list so was wondering if anyone with a lower bmi was approved with just the PCOS. I have that and borderline diabetes but nothing else. I will be trying to have the surgery done at a Military Treatment Facility, once we move back to the sates.

Ok I have no idea what I am suppose to be eating right now. I had surgery on Monday the 24th. I figured they would explain in the hospital but they really didnt.. just gave me boost and ice chips and that was it. How much am i suppose to be eating and of what? Am i only suppose to be drinking from the Protein shakes? What about Peanut Butter, or oatmeal, or yogurt, Soup? So confused.

Post op diet Clueless
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw a nut once, and it was in the very beginning. If she went over the post diet i dont remember at all. I know we went over pre-op. I was given a pack of papers that say liquids for post op, but that isnt being ver specific. Its a center of excellency so.. Im a little confused. Maybe I skipped some thing... oh well tomorrow is monday. These last few days its not like I have even felt up to caring about what Im eating, not that im actually eating since its all liquids. Ill make sure i know fully what to do from tomorrow on. -
Post op diet Clueless
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See I was given the Protein shake while in hospital. But typically it should just be liquids right now? I have an appointment monday so I will talk to them then just wondering for the mean time. -
So tomorrow is my first appointment with the Surgeon. I had to go to a seminar so I met him and his staff already. Wondering what I should expect. I know we get measured and they take our weight but what else?
-
So at first I wanted to get the sleeve but I would have to go to a Military treatment facility to get it done and that is 6 hours away. I am now leaning towards the bypass. I am scared I am going to get denied by insurance though for not being big enough. We just moved to Louisiana from Germany so I have a new PCM. Going to make an appointment hopefully for this week. I am 5'6 and half and my weight is currently 242. Which makes my bmi 39ish. I don't think I have any other co factors that they require. I have PCOS, fatty liver, incontinence, and last time I was checked (5yrs ago) I was pre-diabetic. Anyone else with Tricare Prime south? Just looking to here your story, from first visit on.

Tricare experience
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I saw my pcm end of May for referral to surgeon and have tentative surgery date July 29th. Tricare has been awesome no trouble with them at all. Once my surgeons office submitted it to them it took 4 days to approve and most of those days were over the holiday weekend. -
Anyone else as scared as i am?
Ourlifecomplete replied to Joanncann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way! I think a lot has to do with how many posts I see in different places on people have complications or are really regretful of doing it. Each time I read one It makes me second guess my decision. I think I need to stop reading these type of posts lol. -
Got my Approval today! Now all I have to do is get my date and do an scope and 2wk liquid diet.

APPROVED!
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! Just so if anyone needs the info or does a search I have Tricare Prime south and did not do any supervised diet. I simply sent in old receipts from Weight watchers and nutrisystem and my coordinator pulled my records to show that I have been overweight for a long time. I just barley had a bmi of 40, and that was with me slouching a bit. I am pre-diabetic and borderline high cholesterol and have PCOS. -
Well they submitted it to insurance so now I just wait to see if it gets approved... so instead of feeling impatient im feeling worried and anxious lol. Oh bother! Super nervous about getting approved since I "technically" dont have supervised visits, but I do lol
-
I am dying over here waiting for my coordinator to get things sent to my insurance. It has been like 2 weeks since I did all my preop stuff. Know shes trying to make my case and not the only person she has to do this with but atleast when i had preop stuff i felt i was moving i. the right direction not just at a stand still

I have already talked to my surgeons office and asked about how long it will take once I am on the book and luckily its within a month of insurance approval. I just like to feel im moving forward. And not knowing if ill be approved is super stressful so once I know I can plan accordingly.

I hope so! lol They say patience is a virtue and I was just not born with an ounce of it. Once I get an idea in my head I obsess. Not one of my better qualities hehe. I have tricare prime south and no where does it say a specific amount of time like 3m or 6m needed but It does say that they want history of doing a supervised diet. I don't have any specific history of getting weighed by the doctor but did give my coordinator months of weight watcher receipts and nutrisystem. Plus when I was pregnant I had to be on a low carb diet so we could manage my gestational diabetes with just food. I know she's going to include that info since They did technically weigh me each time and I was technically on a diet lol. Hope it all works out makes me nervous because if they don't approve it then i have to do a few more months of a diet with seeing my pcm. I really want to get the surgery done before Sep. so keeping everything crossed. I much rather her submit it and see what they come back with then wasting time. lol

I dont know why I went and read a bunch of threads from people who are years postop. Now im worried that like some of them I will have all these issues many years down the road. Are these supper common that 10 plus years down the road ill have all these Iron issues or ulcers. I will talk to my surgeon but just wondering yalls take. It makes me worried about having it done. Plus it seems many of them after the first couple years struggle to keep the weight off. Like they can eat the amounts they use to. I know its a tool and not a solution, but is the tool really worth it. Just got all my preop classes and such done and now waiting for them to submit it to insurance. Doubt is creeping in my head..

Not sure why
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good points! It is just hard to make a lifelong decision with so many unknowns. I do want this. I gained all my weight trying to get pregnant when my hormones went all out of whack with PCOS. I am now at the point I just cant take it and have tried everything. So y even if things are a little scary you all are right most people would do it again so im going for it. -
Panera bread or subway
Ourlifecomplete replied to jessica2014's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I havent had surgery yet, but Panera makes an amazing chicken salad! You could eat it with out the bread. -
You too! Maybe we will both have Surgery around the same time! We can be surgery buddies lol!

I feel the same way! In all my spare time im on here. I feel obsessed too. I have done ally preop just waiting for them to submit it to my insurance. Were going to try using proof of weight watchers and nutrisystem to help it out. So nervous and getting on here usually helps me feel as im still in the right direction

Anyone try the Vitamin from It works for hair and nails? I am still pre-op but was thinking maybe I should start taking it now.

First Appointment tomorrow
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow awesome you got it all done in a day. I already filled out all my health information online to them and did the seminar. I think this is just an appointment with the surgeon and nothing else, maybe with the coordinator too for all the insurance stuff, but not sure. So you didnt have to do anything that required undressing did you? Not even sure what to expect haha but hate getting in those stupid gowns and crap. -

Tricare and meeting requirements
Ourlifecomplete posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I keep seeing that Tricare does not cover sleeve, but know a few ladies who have had it or are getting it. I think it is because they are doing it at a mtf. Anyone get tricare to let them go to a MTF that is not where they are stationed? My bmi is only 37 but I have PCOS, Pre-diabetic, and back issues. Im wondering if they will cover me at all.. -

Tricare and meeting requirements
Ourlifecomplete replied to Ourlifecomplete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I understand not wanting to wait till tricare covers it or doing one of the other types. I had hubby call MTF at Keesler and they said that it will be up to the surgeon if he wants to take me on as a patient. First I have to get my PCM to refer me. But before that I have to move lol. Right now im in Germany but we move in April! I really want this done so im trying hard to get things done fast here so we can move already!!! Waiting sucks!
