    Vasovagal Syncope

@MichiganChic. Yes, vasovagal syncope is the same thing as neurocardiogenic syncope. It occurs in response to a trigger, with a corresponding malfunction in the Vagus nerve which regulates heart rate and blood pressure. When heart rate slows, blood pressure drops, and the resulting lack of blood to the brain causes fainting. Folks who are diagnosed with this are confirmed by what's called a "tilt table" test. A positive result is achieved when the individual essentially flatlines on the tilt table. While the tilt table test can be horrifying, the condition itself is really not hard to live with once one is aware of it and knows how to handle. I was diagnosed with this several years ago (pre sleeve). I'm just wondering if there are others with WLS with the same condition who have experienced any changes post WLS ... better, worse, unchanged...?

    Frankensleeve hates.....

I just don't get this. I'm still in the purée phase, so I'm just getting reacquainted with real (baby) food. I neglected to ask Doc or Nut why this change in agreeable foods. Why does this happen after being sleeved? Does is seem to happen to everyone?
  3. ... 150 more to go, with momentum on my side! Also, I will reach my first cycling milage goal of >100 miles per week by the end of this week. Thank you all who have provided insight into this process so far!

Submitting to UHC wish me luck!

Of course every plan is a bit different, but I have UHC and they have been great. I had only to show a history of medically supervised attempts to lose weight. No other requirements on my plan.

    Attention from opposite sex..I'm clueless

Oh, sorry if I wasn't supposed to post here. I was looking at the "timeline" view of posts and didn't notice this was ladies only. ????. As long as I'm here, hi ladies, can I buy your groceries. ???? Last post, out.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

I guess I though the responses in that other post (four month out...) were pretty tame, at least when not taken out of context.

    Attention from opposite sex..I'm clueless

I've been a guy all my life, and this is the first I've ever heard of guys offering to buy groceries for a woman, not their wife, daughter, cousin, etc... I've been married for 30 years, so I might not be the best source. Still, I am a guy and do have single friends, so would think I would have heard of this approach. Good job! Enjoy the ego boost; needed or not it never hurts.

How did you know when you were full?

Hiccup or burp. Good tip. I'll keep in mind as I ease into the world of puréed foods. Thank you!

Question, what's the right way to to the @ when there is a space in the users name? Thanks in advance.

@@CLOE's mom got it thanks. I only found that other post after you quoted it. Thank you for doing that. Seemed like a pretty tame post, don't you think?

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

Am I supposed to respond to the @blacktee92675 thing in the last post? I'm not sure what you were trying to say to me? Oh well.

How did you know when you were full?

This is my first day of puréed food. I had one scrambled egg for breakfast, and knew I was full. I dished up 2.5oz of tuna tartare for dinner with a tablespoon of edamame hummus. I just ate very slowly, and it was clear when I was getting close to full. I finished 100% of breakfast, and about 75% of dinner. It all taste soooo good that there was no way I was going to push my luck and ruin the experience of my first real food in several weeks! Oh, and I guess it's not a good idea to push the limits of my new stomach while it's still healing, or something like that. ????

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

Now I'm just disappointed. I thought this was all about the "4 months out..." thread. What was the original thread that started this? I need something new!

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

I've been reading this thread for the past couple days and just want to say thank you. This has been very entertaining. Like everyone on this thread, I'm against bullying of any kind. If this thread was spun off as a rant from a thread titled "Four weeks out..." or something like that, and had references to kids meals and broccoli, then I have to ask where was the bullying? I read posts from folks with strong personalities on that thread, but they seemed to mean well. I must be missing something, because this rant thread seems like a lot of effort around a non-event. Ring, ring, and the bell sounds! Come out fighting! Gotta love this new fangled Interweb thing.
  16. Tried these some time ago. It was an impulse buy while leaving the market. If I had read the package I would have skipped it. I just looked at the pic and thought yum, dried peas. I was so disappointed by the processed crap.
  17. I think it's a "gateway" tool. First one starts with a straw in water. Later they accidentally put the straw in a glass of juice, and think "oh my that's yummy, a little won't hurt me". Before you know it, juice makes a person feel pretty fancy and they start thinking, "hey, how about a little umbrella with a delicious piece of fruit". Next thing you know their having Mai Tai on the beach in some third world country without their passport, thinking if "I had just listened ..."

    Calories Per Day Vs Exercise

I'm at at ~1000 calories per day, and alternate exercising between 90 and 120 minutes per day, six days each week. I ride a bike each day, then add 30 minutes of strength training three days a week. I'm consuming >100g protein and <100g carbs. I'm two weeks post-op and need to increase calories and protein to avoid burning lean muscle, but I just moved off liquid today so one step at a time.
  19. So glad you asked. This is my first day out of liquid post-op. I'm planning to start the day with with scrambled eggs (French Laundry style), and closing out the day with lightly seasoned tuna tartar on a little puréed Nori to add a bit of Asian influence. Not sure about lunch, probably a protein shake. :-)
  20. @@Hugs :) - I'd suggest asking your Doc. You will receive a variety of answers on a forum like this, and it's easy to go along with the answers you like. If your Doc says no, and you don't like that answer, then a good source for a second reliable opinion is another Doctor. For what it's worth, my Doc's answer to this was Tylenol.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

@@kyrickchick64 - Great question! Just my opinion, but in most cases I believe it's due to insecurity and need to attract attention, but I'm not and expert. I normally don't engage with those folks because they are a huge waste of time. I hope they find some level of self-worth that they don't feel the need to be that way, but I'm not here to help them; that's a different forum.

Same here. Week three starts tomorrow. I can swallow enough water to swallow my meds with reasonable ease.

    Post op vitamins

Yes, the centrum is a little chalky. IF chalky is not agreeable, I have also seen gummy vitimin (think gummie bears)

    Post op vitamins

I did not take on day 1 or day 2 post-op, started on day three. It took some easing into. I was good by day 5 post-op. I'm currently day 12 post-op today and it's as easy as breathing. My doc warned me that some of the Bariatric Vitamins taste kind of bad, so I decided to avoid that issue all together. He actually suggested the alternatives.
