I am trying to find a new fill doctor in or around Springfield. Wendy, with Dr. Edwards, has been doing my fills for over a year now, I have gained 15 pounds since she has been doing them, she always says I don't need a fill, but sure doesn't hesitate to take my money!! I was doing real good till she took over, was only about 10 pounds from my goal, now I am so discouraged I am thinking why even bother!~! HELP!!

I am looking for a fill doctor near Lebanon, Missouri (springfield would be great!) I am not happy with the one I have at the moment and can't seem to find another

need some support here!! I was doing really good until December, one year after my surgery. I was only 25 pounds from goal. I went back in to get another fill and Wendy decided I was too tight so she took some out. I went back a month later and had gained a pound, I feel no restriction at all now. She put some back in but I still feel very little restriction and according to my scales have gained another 1 1/2 pounds. At this rate I will be right back where I was in no time. I plan to go back in 2 weeks for another fill but now I'm scared that it won't work anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry if I'm whining too much - but I was finally starting to feel good about myself for the first time in many years and get really scared when I start gaining again. HELP!!

Good Luck Amber!!! First day of the rest of your life!! God Bless!

Hi everyone, I know its been a long time since I've posted anything but I've been really busy. I've got so much more energy now, I'm off all my diabetes meds. I've lost a total of 78 pounds (48 since surgery) and only have 27 to go to reach my goal weight. I actually get to shop for regular size clothes now, instead of plus sizes - didn't think I'd ever be able to do that again!! Those of you who are still not feeling much restriction, it took me 5 fills before I did, but then the pounds just started rolling off, I've actually had some people that do not recognize me. I hit the big 5-0 this year but I feel like a young woman again. Lap Band is one of the best things I've done for myself in years - worth EVERY penny it cost! I'm still looking for a support group near Lebanon if anyone is aware of one. Good luck to all

Hi Diane, I tried sending you an e-mail with information about myself but I don't think it went through. No I don't know of any more Lebanon banders but I'd love to get together with you two for coffee or something sometime and discuss it. I really don't have time to organize a support group but would love to be a part of one. So do you have a surgery date set yet? Best of luck!!

Hi, I noticed you mentioned Lebanon, I live about 20 miles east and had surgery December 17th, 2007. Just wanted to wish you luck! It's going really slow for me, the doctor said probably because of my age - (50 on the 25th!) and because I had only 80 pounds to lose. But I've lost 26 pounds so far and already feel so much better. If you are comfortable with it, maybe we can exchange names and actually meet - I'm so far from Springfield I don't get to go to the support groups, hopefully they will start one in Lebanon soon. Good Luck!!!

Hi All, Just a quick update - I had my 3rd fill last Wednesday and I'm finally feeling some restriction. I've lost 2 pounds since then, and am feeling a little better about it now!! Thanks for all your encouragement. I'll write more later when I've got more time - have to get to work now.
-
Hi Kimberly, Thanks so much for the encouraging words. I know its not going to happen overnight but it would sure help if I'd at least start losing a few pounds!! I'm in the public eye quite a bit - gospel singer - so I'm looking forward to seeing results! It sure helps to chat with someone who knows what I'm going through. So thanks again - and God Bless!!

hello everyone, Sorry its been quite awhile since I've been on here - but have enjoyed reading everyones posts. I've just been really low and discouraged. I had surgery on December 17th, have had 2 fills with the 3rd scheduled next week, and weigh 1 pound more than I did when I went in in for surgery. I have returned to the old way of taking diet pills to control my appetite - but I'm starved all the time and can eat anything with no restriction. I feel like I am on a very strict diet (which has never worked in the past). I don't seem to see anyone else having these problems, so is it possible my surgery was a failure? I'd sure hate to think I spent $17000.00 for NOTHING!! Never in any of the meetings I attended did I hear that this might not work, especially if I was doing everything I am supposed to be doing? I thought there was finally light at the end of the tunnel - but maybe not??? Anyone got any advice? I don't mean to be a grumbler and sure don't want to discourage anyone who hasn't yet had the surgery, but I don't know where else to turn. HELP!!!
-
Hi Debbie, Yes I got the fill on Friday, still feel very little restriction. How long should I wait before I call to schedule another? I still feel like I can eat anything, just trying not to!! I've only lost 15 pounds so far, and 8 of those were during the liquid diet!! I try not to get discouraged, but then I think - oh great - I'm going to be one of those that the surgery doesn't work for - I was self pay - and I spent $17,000 for NOTHING!! Hopefully soon I will be able to get some restriction.

Hi everyone, been awhile since I've been on here - sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. I was banded on 12/17/07 - supposed to get my first fill tomorrow. I was supposed to get it on 1/24 but they messed up on the date for the nutrition class so wouldn't let me have it till I went to that. Getting pretty discouraged. I had lost 15 pounds but have gained 4 back. Have absolutely no restriction yet, feel like I'm on a very strict diet and obviously I've never had any luck with that!! Hopefully once I get a fill I will start doing better! Good luck to all

Yes I am Dr Edwards patient. Looking forward to getting my first fill on the 24th. Is it painful?
-
How often do they normally do fills? Looks like you had one every two or three weeks at first. And how expensive are they? I too am self pay - didn't think about all these extra expenses!!
-
Hi again, MazieMommy I guess I should have looked at your diet ticker before making the statement that the lap band wasn't working right for you - you've lost over 100 pounds!! Wow! I've just been getting discouraged but that really lifted my spirits!! LOL!!
-
Hi Mazie Sorry you are having so much trouble. I go for my first fill on the 24th and I'm so afraid I still will be starving. I have gained back about 2 pounds of the 13 I had lost - I'm getting REALLY frustrated. So does Dr Edwards have any reason why the band doesn't seem to be working right for you? Good luck in your weight loss battle!!
-
Mazie, So sorry to hear about your mother. I am a Christian and will definitely keep her in my prayers. You also, as you are going through such a struggle right now. Just put your trust in God and he will see you through these hard times! God bless!!

Hi all, I can sympathize with you slow losers. I had was banded on December 17th and have only lost 12.2 pounds total. 8 of those I lost in the pre-surgery liquid diet. I feel absolutely no restriction, however I went on the 3rd for my post op visit and the doctor said that is normal. I get the first fill on the 24th - hopefully then I will feel like I spent $17,000. for a good reason!! I am very frustrated because I too, am addicted to food or I wouldn't be this way in the first place!! I'm trying to be patient but I guess I just thought after the surgery I wouldn't be able to eat as much!! Oh well!! Good luck to all.
-
Hi everyone, I was banded on the 17th - went for my post op yesterday and everything was looking good. I've lost 13 pounds so far - but feel almost no restriction - think I could eat a horse right now. My doctor says thats normal, I get the first fill on the 24th. He said then I will probably start feeling more restriction, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 fills. HOPE NOT!!! But I feel very good physically, trying to walk at least 1 mile a day on the treadmill for the first month, hope to add more soon. Hope you all are doing well. Good luck to all of you!

Hi everyone, Been a few days since I was on - but now I'm 12 days post op and feel almost completely back to my old self. Unfortunately, that means I'm also starving!! Anyone else having that problem? I've lost 12 pounds since I started the liquid diet but now I seem to be stuck there since I've actually started eating again. Now I'm just looking forward to getting my first fill but that is still 4 weeks away. Somehow, I thought I wouldn't be hungry at all but all I seem to think about is eating!! Any advice from anyone??
-
Hi everyone once again, Well, Tomorrow will be one week since I was banded and I still feel like crap! Dont mean to complain but believe in telling it like it is!! At the seminar, they said we should be back to regular activities in a week - NO WAY!! At the rate I'm going, it will be at least 3 weeks. I have to go back to work on Wednesday and I'm worried that I won't be able to. Also, I've been STARVING!! That wasn't supposed to happen! I'm following directions as good as possible but if I feel like this once I'm better, it will sure be hard NOT to overeat!! HELP!!

Hi everyone, Just thought I'd check back in, haven't felt like being on the computer much this week. Day 5 post op and I'm feeling fairly good now. Still not ready to run a marathon. I've had a really rough week, not much pain with the incisions, just the dreaded "gas" pains. I feel kinda like I've got a broken rib or something. But like I said, doing better today. I haven't been out of the house since I had my surgery on Monday but I plan to go watch my grandkids in their Christmas Program at church tomorrow if possible. Still definitely no regrets at getting this done. Good luck to all of you MERRY LOSERS!!

Hello everyone!! I got my band on Monday the 17th. Everything went really smooth. The surgery was scheduled at 9:00 but they didn't actually take me in until 10:00. My daughters said it took exactly 45 minutes! I was wide awake before I even left the recovery room, was back in my room for about 15 minutes and the nurse said that as soon as I could pee, I was ready to go home! Had no problem with that either! So I was on my way home by 1:30. First day wasn't bad, I slept quite a bit. 2nd day I was in quite a bit of pain and the pain meds they gave me made me feel really weak and sick to my stomach. Got up yesterday morning and decided to stay off the pain meds, just took extra strength tylenol. This morning I have very little pain, no nausea. Haven't had any appetite yet, trying to eat (drink) a little just to keep up my strength. Thanks for all your prayers - I'll be doing the same for all of you! God Bless
