  1. I gained 4 lbs....I am thinking it's my own fault...I mean the lapband didn't do anything different. Now I have to figure out what I did wrong and Why and admit to myself so I can get past it. I am grieving over the unexpected loss of my dad 4 months ago. NO that is NO excuse to eat wrong/more but it doesn't mean I listened.. My PCOS also hampers weight loss, it makes it much slower/harder than normal. Again NOT an excuse. I admit, I have done something...too many calories? I ate too much? Do we calorie count? I know I ate too much at Easter dinner because I felt So FULL for hours and hours and I felt gross...I am trying to keep that memory alive so I don't repeat it! I wasn't active at all because I had shoulder pain then back pain which made me sedentary...I am thinking now I should of ate less because of that. I wasn't keeping a food journal...uh huh...looks like I'm an idiot. ..I should have!! I DO NOW! All I can think is I ate too much, I know I wasn't following the PFC plan 100%... I needed to admit to myself what I have done wrong, then to this forum so I am accountable... After all the lap band hasn't changed..if too much is put in...oh it comes RIGHT BACK UP and or I get that Not fabulous burping gurgling....ugh. *slaps self* Ok...I must get past this.. it's not easy...but I know I have to live with life's upsets and get past this...know my mistakes and move forward... So...am I supposed to calorie count? or do I just stick to the PFC way of eating? <<getting used to that is hard<< I still find it hard to not drink while eating, I get so thirsty, but food & liquid do NOT mix with the band...ooooo noooo it does not... That is my confession for today...

So I'm burning calories + inches....I think I will stick to weighing 1 or 2 x month instead of oh...every few days ... I shall keep everyone posted ! Onward to Healthy!!!

  8. Oh heck, I'm pretty sure I would of um slapped silly anyone who told me I needed WLS....LOL but hey that's just me..LOL I don't know why young people are getting so heavy? It seems to me that improper foods, lack of exercise play a big part in it. Back in my day, there were No computers, no cell phones, we played outside, walked everywhere. I think today's society is too automated, too much junk food available and no one to teach the difference. Though today's food is GMO or just straight chemicals.. Fast food and junk food is pushed on our kids today, it's in schools in cafeteria's! At one place I worked, I had to campaign for low fat, low calorie foods in the cafeteria! There wasn't even any fruit!! Oh and nooooo I so would Not go up and tell anyone they needed WLS...I'm still obese, I'd die if someone said that to me...though you won't catch me with bad foods Anywhere! It's NOT worth it!

Some things I read here make my eyes roll...

I hope I never post something stupid... I have to agree with the Truths you posted under your names ProjectMe & Lipstick lady...they are very correct! I never understood how the lapband worked before ( I won''t get into that it's in the past) lets just say I UNDERSTAND now. It's all of the things you posted under you names and then some. It was eye opening for me to understand it finally! that is is a tool to help me NOT a miracle cure. That I have to make a 110% lifestyle change for LIFE. I have to accept that I can never eat what I did before or even have as much liquids. I understand all those things and I am willing to make the change for life. If I should post something stupid ...do slap me one and let me know I am only at the start of my journey so I'll liable to say something dumb.. Just go ahead and let me know if I do!! :-)

    Not very much weight loss

I am only just starting..but I have to agree with you. The lapband is a Tool to help me lose weight not a cure. I understand it all now, which is something I didn't before. My doctor told me I could lose as little as 1\2 lb a week..I told him Any weight lost per week was a WIN. I don't expect that I will lose 25 lbs every 6 wks, I expect at some point I will have to change up my diet (or maybe many times before I'm healthy) by eating less calories &/or different foods. It's work, it's something you have to commit to..it's a total lifestyle overhaul. Which is something I am 110% committed to for the rest of my life :-)
  12. Omg Ya!!! I can't wait for that too!!! First place I'm going when I reach my goal weight: Hawaii!! to learn how to surf!! & hike to the top of that waterfall and that trail ..in Oahu!! yah!!!

    Scale...wow...

Happy Dance Happy Dance!!!!! I can finally weigh on a normal household scale!!! WOW!!! My BMI is under 50 I'm like so amazed and so excited...I can't believe it!! It all seems so amazing to me!! I had no idea that the band could help me like this!! Sure I only lost 25 lbs so far but I can't believe the difference it has made! wow! I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like in another 25 lbs from now! I was just so excited I had to tell someone....Plus I eat so little! & I'm not hungry it's like wow...who knew? I never would of thought I could eat so little and NOT be hungry!! I ate a spring roll...took me over 20 mins to eat it and when done...I was Full!!! There I was at a restaurant and all I could eat was the spring roll! LOL Anyway sorry to babble on but I'm just so awe struck by it all!! I'm working my way to healthy!! to being able to to the outdoor activities I want to do!! to be the healthy person I know I can be :-)
  15. Oh..I understand!! LOL...nice to know I'm not alone LOL...I'm still big but honestly that 25 lbs was the difference between being able to bend over and tie up my sneakers vs putting my foot up on something to do it! Congrats at you having reached that point!! Good for you!!!

    Scale...wow...

Aww thank you everyone! I'm just so amazed!! I thought I was dreaming when I saw my weight!! Thanks Pink Dahlia.. GoWalking ...you have ..or I guess you do have an idea how happy I am to be part of the "Loser's Club" YAHOOOO!!!! B-52...I was at a Vietnamese restaurant for my Sister-en-laws birthday, I didn't know what else to eat? I'm not experienced with that type of food. I eat Thai, but that is totally different. All I could think was...it's Small...I'm pretty sure I can chew it. Thank you Bandista & Just Watch Me I truly appreciate all the encouragement and advice I am on my way to a healthy body!! YAH!!! Onward to Healthy!!
  17. I would ask your doctor...for myself I have a really hard time swallowing pills but have no choice with some...for me it's kind of like eating....it takes me a long time to take all my pills + vitamins.

      Thank you :-) I'm trying!!

  20. I have had my lap band for a few yrs now. It's been empty. Just there, not being used. I won't go into the back story, lets just say there was no support, no way to get it adjusted, I was basically given the surgery and left out in the cold. But that is the past. Fast forward to 6 days ago....Finally a doctor who is beyond an expert in lap bands! He's amazing! I had to go to radiology & under xray to find the port....I got to see the lap band & got to see it in action!! I drank that ickky blah white chalky stuff *just a few sips* & could see Exactly how the band works!! I highly recommend this!! I could see it working!! I now have support and a doctor who can do adjustments/fills I am not alone anymore!! I could also FEEL the fills...they went up to 8CC & I got heartburn/pain until they took it down to 4CC i didn't know that happened OR that I could feel it! It was such an eye opening experience! So my journey finally starts... I have 10CC band....it has 4CC in it liquid goes down although I notice I can't take as much liquid in one swallow as I was able to. I haven't really figured out what I can & can not eat or how much of . It's trial & error for the time being as I notice on here everyone is different as to what they can tolerate food & quantity wise. I haven't been eating very much over the last 6 days...I did do a lot of throwing up...trying to figure out how/what.how much to eat.... I feel very restricted but NOT hungry very often. I find it really hard to NOT drink liquids when eating...I have to break that habit...which won't be hard as the result is throwing up I was told to eat 3 meals a day + 2 planned Snacks....but ah...that isn't really working out for me....I am getting in 1 meal a day, no snacks, lots of liquids. (Water, low cal sugar free juice) I guess my question is: anyone else not able to eat that much? I'm Not starving, I eat when I feel hungry, I also noticed I eat Very Small amounts, and I mean SMALL and I'm full....does that happen to anyone else? I don't want to fail, but i want to make sure I am getting enough nutrition. & I do have to make my food like MUSH from chewing before swallowing or it gets stuck the doctor told me that it can be 30+ chews he said a piece of steak the size of a thumbnail can take 100 chews before swallowing!! **guess who won't be having steak anytime soon** Should I just keep on the way I am? anyone else have this issue? I will be going back in month for follow up....meanwhile I just wanted to know if anyone else eats this small amnt and is ok

    2nd times the charm?

    Thank you
  22. Uh oh ....maybe I shouldn't have read this thread? seems to me you all have lost a LOT...my doc says it can be as low as 1/2 lb week which I figure is sweet because it's half a pound LOST and Not gai I have PCOS so I am not expecting huge weight loss per month...but wow seems to me you all have lost a LOT wow
  23. shugal

    I have PCOS...

I think (in my case anyway) IMO that its harder for me with PCOS to lose weight...even with the band...I lost 12 lbs in the past month but I'm not counting on that to be the norm every month & my doc says it can even be 1/2 lbs or less a week losing...but I'm Ok with ANY weight loss as you can see I have to lose 200+ also but I am just going to take it one day at a time... and face each day as it comes...that's all I can do.. I am keeping a positive outlook no matter what! I believe in the power of positive thinking :-) It's Hard work & it's Not easy but I know we can do it!!
  24. Easy?? Grrrrrr I have a intense desire to SMACK that person!!! I am glad that you can let it roll off you, that is the best thing to do I find people that judge generally have a LOT of "issues" with themselves and deflect that onto others! I am PROUD of my lap band!! I will shout it from roof tops! IF someone doesn't like it or thinks it's an Easy way out they have ZERO knowledge of it and I don't care for their opinion...they can KISS MY Butt!! I walk away from people who speak like your co worker...I don't listen to idiots...just saying...
  25. Good post My doctor just told me today, Not to get hung up on the losing weight part, basically stating a lot of the same things you just said. Everyone is different. Plus it's more about Learning how to eat healthy, portion control, it's a Lifestyle change he said it's like learning how to eat all over again. I agree I am way more aware of my food now of what I choose to eat, I never take less than 20 mins to eat It's a total lifestyle change FOR MY LIFE and For my Lifetime. I understand that now. I understand the lap band is a Tool to help me achieve that
