Anybody had one? I think I have but won't know for sure until X-ray, paid £7,500 for op with THG and they want £175 for an X-Ray - as if !!!!
-
Thanks for that Freckles, I've been quoted £175 for an X-Ray, I've made an appointment with my NHS Doctor for 25th to ask his advice, he referred me for fills when my package expired with THG so I'm hopeful he'll help but I don't want to wait months either so we'll see what he says, I've had no restriction for months and struggling to maintain my 3 stone loss since I was banded a year ago , the thought of gaining it all back horrifies me but I'm not going with THG again, I don't trust them.

I was banded 17th Jan with THG and had to battle for my first fill on 5th March, rang again this morning as I need another fill and wanted to give them plenty notice, I was told I need an appointment with a dietician who will refer me for a fill so I asked to speak to a dietician and was told they were busy but she'd return my call as soon as possible, 2 hours later still no call so I rang back and asked to speak to someone to organise a fill but this time I'm told the girl who organises fills is on holiday until tomorrow, I've left a message for her to call me in the morning and in the meantime I've still not heard from the dietician..........looks like I'm going to have another battle !!!!! 0 Comments

I'm assuming your GP is aware of this, if he's unable to help the NHS have a complaints procedure which your local Citizens Advice will help you with -good luck.

My name is Helen, I'm 60 years young and was banded 3 weeks ago having spent the last 50 years trying to lose weight myself, I live near Newcastle and was banded in Leeds Nuffield by Professor McMahon via The Hospital Group, apart from the day of my op and the following day I have been almost pain free and enjoyed every step of my journey, in 3 short weeks I have lost an amazing 20lbs - I'm elated !!!
-
Christine, Try not to worry as surely they can't ignore the fact they've been negligent and expect you to suffer the consequences, who are the PCT? and were you funded for this op or did you go private.

I've rushed through the mushie phase
purplepoppy replied to healthyagain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm from UK and was banded 17th Jan, from beginning the pre op milk and yogurt diet a week before my surgery to completing the two week liquid diet I lost an amazing 21lbs !!!! then last week I began the mushy phase and I'm finding it difficult to maintain my current weight loss let alone lose any weight , my appointment with the dietician isn't until the 20th Feb so in an effort to maintain my weight loss I'm considering only having one soft food meal throughout the day and maybe a smoothie or a slimfast milk shake for Breakfast and soup for lunch, has anyone had a similar problem ? your advice/opinion would be appreciated. Many thanks Helen -
Sorry I can't help you Wendy as I haven't had a fill yet so wouldn't know what to advise, my appointment with the dietician's 20th Feb but I'm struggling already to try to maintain what I've lost so far, since I went on to soft foods my appetite's increasing and I haven't lost anymore weight, infact I'm struggling not to gain. !!!!
-
Hiya Wendy, what a small world this is, I'm quite new on this site but it's interesting, how you doing ? my weight loss has slowed right down since I went on to soft foods infact I haven't lost anything so I'm making a big pan of vegetable soup as we speak to see if that'll shift it !!! is it ok to do that when you're on soft foods ?
-
Christine, I know how you feel, in the beginning my appetite was very poor but as I recover it increases on a daily basis, my appointment with the dieticain to determine my first fill isn't until 20th Feb, I hope my willpower holds out that long !!!!

For the first four weeks after surgery I was advised gentle exercise ie walking and after that I can return to my Palates class as anything connected with weights and stretching should be avoided in the early days, unfortunately the weather's been horrendous since my op so consequently I've done very little walking as there's no pleasure walking in a blizzard or in the rain so to answer your question li33y, no I haven't but I intend to, I don't like the gym but I quite enjoy walking once the weather improves.

I too have been wondering about Fern, on the programme she doesn't discuss her weight loss and doesn't appear comfortable if anyone else does which strikes me as strange but have to say she looks 1000% better - whichever way she's lost it.

Large egg shaped lump at port incision
purplepoppy replied to hsbeach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded three weeks ago and have the same problem but I've been assured from my Consultant it's my port and will subside in time.
