Wow what time? I was there from 1130 until 430. The only criticize I gave is the front desk. I was getting different information all day. They didn't know much. I see one of the dr in July 13 and I hope to get some questions resolved then.Hi Dina. I am scheduled for surgery with dr Ahmad on August 14th. I was in the office on July 1st also. I have heard nothing but good comments about him and his office. My coworker was sleeved by him on May 6th. My sister in law is scheduled for Aug 17th.

I just started a high Protein low carb diet as suggested by the NUT. I am using my fitness pal to track everything. I would never use nutrisystem only if my life depended on it. I tried it for one day and send it back for a refund. I would suggest to follow same. After surgery we will all have to eat that way so it only makes sense for the next 6 months to do so.

I did the pulmonary, blood work, psych, abdominal sonogram, nut consult., h. Pylori test. I still have a laundry list of things to get done. None of them difficult to do. It's all good. I love these boards and I know it's going to be a great ride

I am in the same boat. I started March 1st - have to have 6 months of monthly NUT visits, sleep study, psych eval. Plus the program I am in requires attendance of 6 modules. I've finished everything except still have 2 more NUT visits. On Aug 19th I'll be officially done with what I need to do before they can submit to the insurance co. At first I was REALLY bummed. Now I am actually happy because I realize that I needed all this time to prepare. I have done so much research that I am now positive that the sleeve is the right decision for me (but the lap band or bypass might be the right decision for someone else) I also immediately gave up soda, caffeine, and alcohol....urhh...that was hard but I haven't had any since March 1st! The best think yet is that I have dropped over 38 pounds. Each pound will get me quicker to my goal and make my surgery a little safer. We are all so lucky to have this format to support each other. This will seem like such a short time when we look back on it. Good luck!
Bless your heart! That's great. Today was day 1 of healthy eating. I am worried I will go home and binge. That's my pattern. But I have to fight because I am slowly killing myself and I have so much to live for !!! I started using my fitness pal and I love it. I am so grateful for all of you. This is such a supportive environment.

They gave me a list. I bought the EAS complete Protein Powder. It's 150 cals, 25 grams of Protein and 5 gm sugar.

I have seen a lot of thin people drink Protein Shakes. So there must be something to
It. I bought mine today and will drink tomorrow.

I'm going through it now with my insurance. I have my last appointment next week before the doctor submits all of information (visits, psych evaluation, primary care doctor and nutritionist visits) to the insurance company. The time will fly by plus it gives you more room to plan. Be encouraged!
Which insurance do you have? I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Yep. I have Kaiser so I went through the 12 weeks in the options program. Also during that time I had to lose 10% of my body weight. I first contacted my doctor in late January 2015. My surgery date is set for this Monday. It has felt like a long wait because I see all of the other posts where people talk about having a date and now it's finally my turn. So long story short, yes I had to do something similar to what you are being required to do.
So you had to do 12 weeks and then wait another 12? I was just told they want to see some progress. I feel sad now I have to modify my eating and be hungry and it has been so hard to begin with. The NUT gave me good tips and I am hoping I can follow them through.

Best wishes to you, Dina. Please stay in touch!
Hi Sarah
I went for testing today and found out I have to record 6 months of physician supervised weigh ins. I was down
The good part is I got some awesome tips from NUT and food plans to follow. It will help me prepare in the long run and I think give me better habits. Dina

Had my pre-insurance testing today. Only to find out I have to have supervised weigh ins for 6 months. I was a little down. I also have to lose some weight but they didn't tell me how much yet. I am thinking positive that this will help me in the long run to be successful with surgery. But I still feel down. Anyone else go through this?

I have my first round of tests with Dr. Ahmad's office tomorrow- July 1. I think your review was the first bad review I've ever heard. Believe me, I have searched all over the internet looking for bad stuff on this Dr... I have even had other health professionals tell me what an amazing surgeon he is. I am glad to read it though because I will be on alert for any red flags.
I am sure you had your surgery by now and I hope you are doing well.

Oh I haven't started the tests yet. I am starting on July 1 they do a bunch at his office which is great. I think I have to see a cardiologist on my own. I guess it's the tests for insurance requirements. The hospital is Mather in Port Jefferson, NY. All my best, Dina

How do you have a surgery date already? I start the testing but they didn't give me a date. :/

Thank you so much for the support! It means the world to me.

Hi there. I'm new here and I start my pre-op with Dr Ahmad's office on July 1. I want to know if any of you have had good experiences with him. It is a big deal to me and i feel ready to do this. It's so important to me but I don't want to pick the wrong surgeon. So any information you can share would be wonderful and appreciated. TIA

I hope all went well. I'm thinking of you!

If it were that easy everyone would do it! I know how you're feeling:/ I'm just starting on this journey. Keep your head up, you are further along in this journey than you were yesterday:)
Thank you! I am looking forward to my appointment and ready to start the journey.

Starting my testing in July 1, seeing NUT, pulmonary, sonogram, psych, blood work in one day. However, I am having such a sad day today. I am finding it harder and harder to do daily activities without getting out of breath. I have low energy. I have to lose about 100 lbs. I also hate the summer and how limited I feel. I can't wait to see NUT so I can start on a plan and commit to this. My husband says, just start walking, eat less. Shit, I wish it were that easy. Just a bad day is all. I needed to get it out.
