Newly-banded (11-19-07)
jmaynard207 replied to crispy98a's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, the port site is the largest incision. I was banded on November 19th, and it took about a week and a half for the gas pains in my shoulder to go away, but using the heating pad and getting up and walking around for short periods of time as often as possible REALLY helped. It also took about 6 to 7 days before the tightness in my stomach went away for the most part (which is dead on for what the doctor said, he told me I would feel better Saturday and my operation was on Monday), but I again found that getting up and moving around as much as possible REALLY helped that dwindle away as the days went on. As far as sitting comfortably, I usually carried a pillow around with me when home to help support my back and allow me to sit more comfortably. Also, when going anywhere in the car, I brought one pillow for behind my back, and one to keep pressed to my stomach for the trip so that things wouldn't get jostled around too much on bumpy roads! Good luck with the coming days and I hope you start feeling much better soon! -
Newly banded in Richmond VA

Thanks! It's on my left side, on my ribcage. I can actually feel it in there when I rub my fingers across it, which is sort of creepy in itself, but I can deal with it ) -
I was banded in Richmond on 11-19-07, by Dr. Elliot. I'm still feeling hungry after eating at times, and I'm still a bit sore around my port site, especially after long active days, but other than that I'm feeling wonderful! I've already lost 17 pounds since starting the liver shrinking diet, and it is SO exciting because I can really see the results! My only question is, how long does it take the port site to stop hurting? It's bearable, I just wish it would go away already!

Congratulations! I just got banded a few weeks ago, and it took just about a month to get there from the day that I really decided to do it! You will not regret your decision, I can already tell, after only 2 weeks, that this was the best decision that I have ever made! Good luck with all of your process!

Hello All! I was just recently banded on 11/19 by Dr. Elliot in Ricnmond VA and am SO glad that I decided to go through with it!! Is anyone else from around here, mabye with the same doctor or The Richmond Surgical Group in general? I started my pre-op diet on 11/07 and to date have already lost 17 pounds, which is way more than I expected so soon! (My goal is to lose 100 pounds) My only problem is that after eating my meals, I still feel hungry at this point. Is that normal? I go for my first follow-up appointment on Monday, so I'm stoked to hear how he thinks I'm progressing.
