  1. I'm 2 1/2 months postop and ever since I have been two months postop I've been getting nauseous every time I eat. I have a miracle cure that works for me hopefully will help some of you out there suffering from the same ailment. It's called meclizine. It is sold in Connecticut at Walmart and under the equate brand which is Walmarts brand as motion sickness medication. Is a miracle cure if I eat too much or I just get nauseous. I take one and 45 minutes later I feel fantastic again. I hope this helps you as well

    Sugar free Popsicles n gum

I have been chewing juicy fruit sugarless gum since the day of surgery. It takes the bad taste out of my mouth and curbs my sweet tooth. And if I feel hungry it takes those cravings away as well. But yes the surgeon made sure that I knew not to swallow it because it could cause a blockage. My suggestion is just do what your surgeon says. But I will tell you I'm glad my surgeon allows sugarless gum

    Craving

I previously had a lap band and lost only 35 pounds. So when I got to the 35 pound mark with my RNY I panicked thinking this is it I'm not gonna lose anymore and then I got on the scale and I'm now losing 2 pounds a week which is fine for me. When I first had the surgery I wanted 10 pounds a week to come off. It's just not like that I might go week without losing anything and then I would lose five or 6 pounds in one day. So stick with it and don't be too discouraged because you'll be able to eat anything you want in moderation as long as you know your full

    Craving

OMG I craved everything from shrimp to chicken with anything but a little tiny bit of mayonnaise on it. It totally gets better I am almost 3 months out eating anything I want moderation. The only thing I found hard to do was to realize when I was hungry. Before surgery I was full when the entire bag of potato chips was emptied. Now I might have one potato chip and feel full. But it's the realization that you're full. It's a whole new world and a fantastic journey that you will end up loving once you can eat solid food. I regretted the surgery and thought I was going to die with the stuff that I had to eat and drink for three weeks post surgery. But there is light at the tunnel and the journey is amazing, I'm glad I did it and I think you will be too

    FINALLY in ONEderland!

Kim that happened to me with the scale at bariatric doctor. I was so mad. But I know when I go to my PCP he hasn't changed over. So I'm looking forward to going to see him and sliding that thing on the 150 Dj. I've now been struggling between 201 98 for the last two weeks. But I know it's a process you'll get there too my friend. Keep up the good work
  9. Finally after 15 years I am now in ONEderland! I never ever thought I would see a 1 in front of my weight. I will tell those who feel they are struggling that if I can do it ANYONE can do it. I'm not saying it's going to be easy but it's going to be worth it. 2 weeks ago I was crying because I was stalled at 211 and now I'm crying because I finally get to see the number 1 in front of my weight. Those that are "skinny" don't understand what a life-changing event it is and how something so simple as to have a 1 in front of your weight can make you so happy. Good luck to all and for the first time since having the surgery do I feel as though I'm going to succeed!!!
  10. I had my RNY on March 16, even though I am on solid foods I do enjoy an Atkins EAS Protein Shake daily as a protein booster (chocolate yum). Anyway, I will be traveling to Venice/Greece in May and am wondering if I should pack a 2 weeks worth of shakes ( a lot of weight in suitcase ) or try to find a place in Venice that sells them. I can't imagine being able to find them there. Any suggestions, or has anyone seen them in Italy/ Greece stores.

    FINALLY in ONEderland!

Other people's posts of help me get where I am and I know will continue to help me get to my goal. So I'm glad I could help????????
  13. Thank you so so much for all your help. Everybody's input is really valuable to me. Sending them to the hotel would be an awesome idea only were going to be in Venice for one day and then a seven day cruise to Greece and then two days in Venice at the end. Otherwise that would've worked really well. I think I will have to go with the powder. Although I hate the powder it's the next best alternative. Thanks again have a great day everyone
  14. I brought my bed pillow. Best choice ever. I slept much better in hospital with it. Also, a G2 zero drink. Hospitals don't have them and it helps the nausea if you get it.
  15. I'm gonna tell you something the PA told me at my pre-op appt. and it has saved my life getting through this process. I had surgery 3/16 and I have been crazy trying to get my head around 4 weeks (2 wks pre surgery and 2 wks post) of liquids. She said chew sugar free gum. JUST DONT SWALLOW IT!!!!! ( it could cause a blockage). I am very careful but it truly has saved me from going completely bananas!!! And it's a sweet treat. My favorite is Juicy Fruit. Hope this helps!
  16. If not why? I thought it was healthy for me so long as not swamped in heavy butter

    SUGARFREE GUM

That's what I thought too!! But I am a physical therapist and talk ALOT during the day so I always chewed gum to keep my mouth from getting dry. So I talked to my PA about it before bsurgery and she said I can still chew it JUST NEVER SWALLOW IT!!!!!! I could cause a blockage. Maybe that's why you were told never again to chew gum. They are afraid of the 'accidental' swallowing of it. But truthfully I chew it at night watching tv. It's like a dessert taste for me and then I don't crave 'real' dessert. But I certainly don't want to encourage bad habit that your doc says no to.

    Constipation

I had surgery on 3/16 and I have to use milk of magnesia every other day because I'm still not going regularly. I'm drinking my fluids, I am drinking my protein, I don't know what the story is but the milk of magnesia cleans me out

    Tomato Soup

Dole makes a delicious garden vegetable and tomato and garlic/herb soup that is delicious and low in fat. Comes in a box and it's in the soup section of the grocery store Sorry meant to say it's low in sugar too
  24. Well I'm three weeks from RNY surgery and have hit a stall. Down 18 pounds and the scale sits for a week at the same exact weight no matter what I do. I walked 3 miles yesterday rode the bike 3 miles and did strengthening exercises I am drinking what I'm supposed to, getting in my protein and the scale still doesn't move. I'm so depressed I don't know what to do
