CRAVING FRUITS AT ONLY 3 WEEKS AFTER VSG SURGERY!
Princess T replied to jissell1989's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im on my 6th week now and still on pureed food until mid week. I have had pureed banana with fat free greek yogurt with no problems. I wouldn't really like fruit with cottage cheese but I am going to try pureed peach and pureed Strawberrys with greek yogurt over the next few days. -
I didnt have any drains either! ????
-
Its all helped me so much too! Thank you all ????
-
Thats very helpful beachgurl84 thank you. Can I ask when people are measuring their pureed food, how much are they having approx at a meal? Just so I dont over eat if Im not feeling full.
-
Im sure when we are on solid food we will see the difference. Someone said that I might be able to get a bit more in at this stage because I am healing well and the swelling went down quicker. So im sticking with that story! I can try mushy food in 2 weeks, then solids 2 weeks after that so judging by what I have seen thats when we will start to feel it. Otherwise I will be camping outside my surgeons house until he takes a little bit more stomach away! ????

Hiya. I am in day 2 of pureed fiids after 4 weeks of liquids and I am feeling the same as you. I can drink freely with no problems and I have been eating the same amounts as people say that they are absolutely stuffed on, like 1 pureed scrambled egg with about a 3rd if a tin of pureed baked beans but although Im lucky to feel no paun and discomfort eating it I also feel no restriction with this whatsoever. I know people will say its head hunger, but I have dieted long enough to tell the difference. I am not drinking an hour before or after eating. And I am taking antacids twice a day. I have not continued to eat anything else after I have finished what I have in my plate but I definitely think Im going to have to up the portion size because constant hunger was one of the reasons I had the sleeve and I don't want to go through all of this to feel the same. But at the same time, I dont want to do my sleeve any damage. I now its only early days and I am hoping it will be a lot different when I start solids in a few weeks.

My liquid phase is 4 weeks! Then puréed for at least 2 weeks and then I can try mushies. I wonder why the phases vary so much with different surgeons??

Awww thank you I will have a look and order some and see how I get on. Since protien has to be my new friend ???? . Everything else is soooo sweet now. And thats coming from a (former) chocoholic!. You will be fine travelling home. The pain I had was only there when I was moving around not sitting in one place. Wear loose trousers and maybe a sports bra without underwire. Just be excited instead of nervous! Its something thats going to make your life better remember so why worry when everything is going to go swimmingly! ????

I have never heard of unflavoured protien! I will check it out. I have ordered some juice type isopure but its really hard to get a choice of flavours in England, all the nice flavours are in America! Oh no dont be nervous! It will be fine! I know its easy for me to say now but its not going to be anywhere near as scary as you are thinking it will be! I was expecting the absolute worst pain ever but for the first few days it feels like you have done too many sit ups and you've woken up with achy ribs feeling a bit bruised. Its wasnt like the type of pain I expected after an op. I wasnt sick at all but the hospital had anti sickness meds at the ready to sort that out if I did. I was on a drip for fluids for the first 24 hours so I didnt feel hungry or thirsty. The worst part is having to put up with the liquid diet. Mines for 4 weeks, then pureed food but some are on pureed after a week! When are you going in for yours?

I am feeling like I haven't really had anything done! I had some pain after the surgery but it wasnt anything near as bad as I had expected. It only lasted for a few days. Ive had no sickness but have felt a little nauseous at times after a liquid meal. If I do too much in the day I can feel a slight pulling pain on my left side but it just feels as sore as touching a bruise. I am on liquids for another week then I move on to pureed. I have no trouble taking liquids but the thought of one more meal replacement shake makes me feel ill. They taste far to sweet. I have been drinking a lot of plain milk which satisfies my hunger a little but I need to get back to shakes or I wont be getting enough vitamins or protein. Everyone says I will feel the restriction once I start real food. I cant wait! Ive lost 21lb since I started liquids a week before surgery, so 4 weeks today. But its not been easy! Im quite hungry at times and in need of some energy! But I am determined to do each phase exactly as my surgeon tells me! I am determined this will work for me whatever it takes!

I was sleeved 3 weeks ago with a bmi of 31. I have had bmi's of anywhere between 24 and 39 over the years because I have never been able to keep any weight off. I struggled every single day since I started dieting 19 years ago. It had taken over my life. I had never heard of the sleeve until I read up about it 3 weeks before booking it! People who have never had a weight problem think the struggle is over once you have lost weight. But for me thats where the hard work begins. If there was anything, surgery included, that could help me with this struggle then I was going to take it. I dont care what other people's opinions are. Im not asking anything from them so its non of their business. We have made a decision to put a stop to our own misery so stuff them!

Hiya I am 19 days post op on a full smooth liquid diet. My problem is that I don't seem to have any restriction with liquids. I have not gulped down a full glass of anything in one go or anything like that, but I can drink a full glass of milk at a pace I would usually do pre-sleeve with no problems. I have had no problems with liquid since I was allowed them on day 2?? Is this normal? I'm worried that I am stretching the sleeve by drinking normally. I have just been reading that people are supposed to take small sips 5 minutes apart to avoid rupturing the staple line! The nurse at the hospital said I can't drink to much when I asked because it would come back up. But it never has! I don't want to be doing myself any damage but I have felt quite hungry so I don't think I could hold out for one sip every 5 minutes! I also saw a lady on YouTube who had literally 2 sips of Apple juice and said she was stuffed! I really wish I was stuffed on 2 sips but it's just not happening! I have not cheated or anything like that as I am determined that this sleeve will work for me. But I was just wondering what other people's liquid restriction was over their liquid phase. Thanks in advance xx

Non-Morphine Pain Meds....concerns
Princess T replied to Mrs. Reid's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didnt have any morphine. Just liquid paracetamol. They gave me dissolvable tramadol to take home but I didnt take any. The pain wasnt really strong enough to need anything other than paracetamol. I only took it before bed just incase I became uncomfortable, and only for the first few days. -
I had a red sunburn type patch on my shoulder and top part of my arm about a week after surgery. It came suddenly and the red dissappeard by the next day but it then turned very dry and scaley. It was never itchy. I have been moisturising it but its still there a week and a half later. Ive never had it before??
-
Awww thank you so much. I have been really lucky in regards to sickness so far(touch wood!). I was just concerned that maybe my head was taking over my stomach and I was not noticing that I really needed to stop drinking. I would be too scared to gulp as I really dread bringing it back up. I have struggled to keep any lost weight off all my life so I would really hate to self sabotage this new start for me xx

Hi I was sleeved 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I have got a dentist appointment in 2 days time for a quite deep filling which requires an injection to numb the gum. I was wondering if I would be ok to go, or if I should put it off. I know I probably wont get any infections but I am just worried incase anything could happen to cause me problems. I am still on a full liquid diet for the next 2 weeks. What would you do?? :-S
-
Thanks everyone. No i didnt have to have even a dental check before surgery! My appointment is to get a crack in an old filling fixed so they need to take out all of whats in place there now and replace it. So its not a new cavity as such. Im only allowed liquid medication so would be unable to take anything unless they could give it to me in liquid form. Its just my luck for what seems like a straightforward appointment to turn into something that goes wrong! I just dont want to risk any infection. I will ring the hospital tomorrow and see what they suggest. Im still a little bruised on my left side too so this may a problem to me when my body tenses up scared stiff when I hear the dentist drill ????. Haha.
