Surgery in Mexico and coming home less 1 organ!
yaya78006 replied to yaya78006's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually this is the only place I have posted this. I thought the info might help people who do go to Mexico really study and do background checks on the Dr. or hospital they have their surgery. There are so many competent Dr.'s in Mexico and a huge amount of them are board certified USA trained. That is the kind of Dr. in Mexico you want to use. yaya -
biggrin,
Thank you for the support.
I don't understand why people are having a hard time believing this.
I need to go to the WWW and find the proof, but then they would still ridicule that too.
Yesterday on the national news I saw where a woman kidnapped a woman, cut the baby out of her and left her at either an apt. or hotel room.
She tried to pass the baby off as hers and then got caught.
Now that sounds like an urban legend too doesn't it? It was on the evening national news.
Oh well, I know what is true and the others that don't believe me can kiss my grits.
heh heh heh
Thanks again!

Bandster Hell but Losing Weight
yaya78006 replied to TangerineDreams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When you throw up it irritates the pouch. we are suppose to drink liquids for 2 days after the incident. I was throwing up every day and they took the fill out of my band. I still can not eat a lot of food without the fill in there. The PA says my band is a small band and I might be normal without any saline in there ever. It also holds 10cc but the Dr. says that can be misleading because some bands are big and wide and some are narrow and some people can't handle too much fill. You need to be careful about how you eat. Really, just have a bite of food and space the bites. Eventually you will be able to eat normal. Like a normal bandster. It took me over 6 months to get to where I can eat at a restaurant. I still can't eat Pasta or bread, which I think is a blessing. If I take a drink of anything after eating, I lose it. ugh! Be careful about throwing up too much, I think that could hurt your esophagus. Good luck! -
You guys are just experiencing the irritation stage. Some people do not have that stage. It took me a loooooooong time to get over my stomach not liking the band and protesting. Now I am having a hard time not eating too much. Atkins drinks are a nice way to get the Protein and have a cooling effect on that "swelling" It will get better. Mine took months and months.

I too had the "first bite syndrome" spasams. I had them bad when I started eating even mushies after 6 weeks. My Dr. kept pointing the finger at me saying I was eating too big of bites, not chewing enough or eating too fast. I told him that I was taking a extra small bite and couldn't eat too fast because I could only eat one bite!!!!!!! I ended up eating an awful lot of cold foods. When you take a bite make it small, chew it well. Take the bite and you will know if it resists. Then if it catches, set the food aside for like 5 mins, then try again. sometimes it takes a few tries. Also, have a nice cup of warm Water with lemon or tea before you eat. that can help settle the spasams. whatever you do......don't put liquid on food that ever feels stuck. That is soooooo much fun! screaming pain followed by vomiting. You will also sometime endure the pain of when the hole gets plugged up with food. that is the worst. That is why you chew thoroughly then eat really slow. no liquids on top.

Yes, the gallstones are extra common. Especially from the fast weight loss.

It is gas pain. I have had it the whole time since I was banded in Aug. 07. I believe that the gas gets "stuck" in the larger part of the stomach below the banding. Sometimes it kind of even burns and hurts. I do not know what in the world makes us banders have this awful gas but it seems as though it is common. I stopped almost all dairy except for a little hard cheese. Switched to plain soy milk. This has helped a lot but there is still gas. My family is really sick of my gas problems!

2.5 weeks out, what is normal
yaya78006 replied to jet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your band has slipped, you would be throwing up an awful lot. Have you had any problems with throwing up? When I got my band, I sat still and did not do any twisting exercises or sit ups until after 5 months. I wanted my band to get "set" I fell on my stomach the other day and am so sore, hoping that I didn't damage my band or port. sigh! -
Why even go through the pain and agony of having this surgery if we don't change the bad habits that made us fat in the first place?
-
You will have all kinds of fears for a while until your body and stomach adjust to the trama of the surgery. The growling and gurgling is just your stomach saying hey put food here but the nice band makes it not feel hungry. Isn't that great!!!! I am 6 months into the band surgery and starting to be normal. It takes a long time for some people and some have no problems and some have awful problems. This is a great site to get help but you are sooooo new that you need to give yourself time to get used to and heal from the surgery. Do not eat anything and follow Dr. directions and keep yourself hydrated. Maybe your Water is too cold. Try some nice warm, not too hot green tea. I found that very comforting for me after my surgery. I could not stand any of the sugarfree popsciles, ugh they made me nauseated. Feel free to email me anytime. Call your Dr. anytime you need any questions answered, that is what they are there for! Good luck! yaya

I had the Fluid taken out of my band almost 2 weeks ago and the pain went away after a couple of days. I have a very small band that PA thinks may be adequate enough to restrict even without any fill. It seems as though I was so restricted that I was starving and my body went into survival mode and stopped losing. Therefore my Dr. made me have another fill and that fill made it so nothing would stay down except Clear liquids and that was barely going down. The PA took the fill completely out and I still can't eat all I want. I feel great! yaya

How long before the GAS Stops post-op?
yaya78006 replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it just takes time for us to adjust. I burp and toot all the time. The burps are like 10 seconds ones. I laugh but DH kind of is grossed out. Every once and awhile I have an accidental burp in front of other people, very embarassing to open the mouth and a belch come out. OOPS! -
I walk around holding my left side all the time. My port kind of aches sometimes and sometimes it is hard for me to breathe deeply.

Spanx.....anyone wear them? I have a question.....
yaya78006 replied to JudiM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I LOVE MY SPANX! WISH THEY HAD A BRA TO FIT MY POOR BOOBS! -
I have lots of bad gas problems too. Gas-X strips are great. I am lactose intolerant so maybe you have developed that too. I also now put Fiber sure in my coffee or tea everyday and still have semi hard stools, I think a lot of the probelms with gas are that we aren't going like we used to. Now for being able to eat anything, that is puzzling to me since I have the complete opposite, I can't freekin eat anything. Maybe some counseling with a therapist can help you deal with problems. Call your Dr. and his assistants or nurses and talk with him aboiut your problems. If they don't have any thing to help you with I would find another Dr. Good luck!

yaya78006 replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to the drugstore and buy yourself a couple of boxes of gas-x strips. They are not chalky and work like a charm. I like the cinnamon. Mint just reminds me of milk of magnesia my mom shoveled down me as a kid. The gas will go away soon. Good luck! -
Getting fills without fluoroscopy...
yaya78006 replied to christy071707's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that if you are having no problems then no floro is good. I had a friend who had terrible problems and her Dr. never used a floro. Ended up her band had slipped and they kept filling and unfilling. She went for 6 weeks without being able to eat or drink anything. I greatly scolded her and made her go see under floro. They removed the band, if they had seen the problem under floro earlier the band might have just had to be unlatched and replaced. She went to Mexico and had vertical gastric bypass. I always use floro. I have esophagus spasams too so I make them use it. yaya -
I think you should contact your Dr. Pain is normal but intense pain could be something that they should know about. I had intense pain the other night, it hurt to even breathe. I think my port has flipped and will call the Dr. tomorrow. Good luck!

Natalie, I had lapband surgery Aug. 16. I used Pilcher, He is a nice guy but I hate the office, they are very unorganized. They used to be with Weight wise on Huebner but were asked to leave probably something with $$. They now have new Dr.'s there and a nice new hospital which I was suppose to have my surgery in. Dr. Duperier (sp?) He is in the same office but they all see patients separately. He seems very good and popular. He did my first and 2nd fill and refused to do the 3rd because I have some probs with esophagus spasm and constricts. Do some research actually do a lot and ask questions, etc. Weight wise has these seminars where you can ask all kinds of questions. Find out what the care is like AFTER the surgery. I really liked weight wise and still buy my supplements there. They have 2 places, one on Huebner and one on Sonterra. There is a dietitician, counselor, exercise specialist and work out equip. Anyone can go see it anytime. Home | WeightWise™ Bariatric Program yaya
