SURGERY 9 FEBRUARY 2015
whirlwen replied to Brigette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope all feb 9thers are healing well and quickly. I am on day 6 of mushies and food has never tasted so good! I'm down 22 lbs since my 1 day pre-op diet and am pretty darn excited with that. I'm exercising 30-45 minutes a day and outside of a lot of tiredness, am feeling great. Please post and update on how things are going for all of you! -

I'm sorry to hear that things didn't come together in time for you to get surgery in February, but March is only a few days away! I know how hard it is to wait once you make the decision to have surgery. You are a feb sleever in spirit, so please keep us updated on your progress! -

Heard that! I am now 15 days out and am on puréeds now. At the end of full liquids I was spending all my free time looking at recipes on Pinterest and drooling. I wouldn't recommend doing that--it's torture. I do have a whole new appreciation for the taste of food. I so enjoy my 1/4 cup of mushy food at every meal. Hang in there! You'll be there soon. I'm down 22 lbs from my 1 day pre-op and the 15 days since. Feeling great--walking 1+ miles a day or biking 5+ miles. Still a bit on the tired side, but it's getting better! Hope the rest of you fellow febbies are healing quickly as well! -

I'm taking bariatric advantage as well and they go down very easy ( at least for me). They aren't terribly expensive either, maybe $50 a month, which is a small portion of what I am saving on food! -
Forgot to log weight yesterday. Yesterday's weight 292.6 Goal weight 271

46 and wish I had done it 10 years ago! My children are following in my footsteps obesity-wise, unfortunately, and I would support them if they wanted to do surgery at 22!

Ive realized a few things after surgery
whirlwen replied to bfloguy82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have done the exact same thing and so far, so good. I do have to say, though, @@bfloguy82 that I am really sick of Protein shakes and have been tempted. Thanks for the warning! -

Congratulations! I, too, am a new post-op and have found these forums insightful and the people very supportive. Happy and healing thoughts to you! -
Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
whirlwen replied to BeautifullyCreated1982's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@BeautifullyCreated1982 good for you! As you can see from the variety of responses, you have to find the motivation that works for you. None of us are the same. This process is a journey, not a destination so if you head down the wrong road, turn around and try a different one. Progress, not perfection. Happy and healthy thoughts to you! -
Keeping weight loss surgery a secret
whirlwen replied to mandyboo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually posted a similar question a few days ago on here and the responses varied a lot! Some people are very open about it while others prefer to keep it private. I myself have only told a few people--my husband, children, parents and a couple co-workers who are struggling with their weight as well. I have decided if people ask, I will just tell them that I have been working hard on eating well and exercising. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself and don't let others bring you down--that's their issue, not yours. I have yet to speak to anyone who has had this surgery who has regretted it. -
SURGERY 9 FEBRUARY 2015
whirlwen replied to Brigette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@GeminiSleever I would like to say it was strength, but really, I just knew what damage I could do if I tried to eat any solids at this point. I am TERRIFIED of the temptations that await me when I am on solids and don't have the medical restrictions I have right now. Food has filled so many holes in my life, so I totally understand what you are saying. It is like we are in mourning for a dear friend. I love the idea of having a small bite of favorites when the need arises. I truly think that may help keep the cravings from leading to an all-out binge. Stay strong! You can do this! -
Is there such thing as too much water?
whirlwen posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/9 and have already lost the full feeling after drinking water. I could easily drink more than the allotted 2 oz every 15 minutes but am worried about stretching my pouch. I don't go in for my follow-up until 2/19 and don't want to call my surgeon with something so trivial. -
I'm all in! When do we start? This is my first challenge ????
-
Good for you for sticking with it! My surgeon only required a one day pre-op liquid diet and I didn't clarify with him if it was full or clear liquids, so I opted for clear to be on the safe side, I was worried that I would be dying of hunger and thirst the morning of surgery (it was scheduled for 12:30pm), but felt remarkably good. I don't know how I would have handled two weeks of it, though! Keep it up! You won't regret it!
