  1. Hello all! I'm 25 and had surgery 3/26/2015 My 3 month plateau just broke and I must admit is a wonderful energizing feeling to know things are working. Keep up the great work everyone! @@Cervidae and @@morgants90 How are you feeling post op?

    Need advice please!

For me one of the hardest adjustments (still working on it) was to not be so concerned with the rate at which the pounds fell. I was obsessed with the average rates of loss the doctor's told me about and staying within or surpassing that range. I'm still working on accepting that there is only so much I can do to affect the rate at which I lose weight and that it will happen when my body's ready. I've been loosing about 5 pounds a month for months 3-5 post op and in month 6 lost 15! Best of luck on your journey
  3. Pre surgery I thought I'd be celebrating every 10 lbs or so, but since having surgery I haven't at all! Ive been thinking that I'd like to do something to mark my 100 lbs lost but have no idea what! Would love some suggestions

    Cooking

I hear ya @@amchurch12000 I'm also not a huge fan of leftovers, however I love prepping meals and wish I could enjoy the result of cooking a few meals and enjoying them over a week. I've found a balance of prepping as much as possible (like washing cutting and seasoning all the veg and meat) and storing it in portions for one meal. I'll also often partially cook my meat so that it takes less time when it comes to cooking the meal and I can blend cooking the veg and meat at the same time in the same dish. Trial and error or borrowing from different people's strategies may help you to find a solution that works perfectly for you.
  5. You're right @@anewme15 it is very hard but you can do it!!!

    Hunger pangs

In the liquid diet I found drinking water and chewing gum to be my salvation against hunger. Now at 7 weeks post op I feel hunger and try to establish between head hunger, stomach hunger and thirst..... It's frustrating.
  7. I've been perusing Bariatric Eating, and recently discovered www.Foodcoach.me and www.milestogo.squarespace.com
  8. Glad to hear you're doing better @@Tintin I'm doing my post op class today as well! Perhaps we'll meet! Congrats on the surgery date @@anewme15 How are you finding Optifast so far?

  10. Hey all! I'm doing great. Had my 3 week out stall so decided it was a great time to up my steps a day. I've been working on surpassing 8,000 steps/day. I've noticed my daily calories increase to about 900, am going to check in with the dietician because I don't have the group class till May 20th. My two months off work is coming to an end! How's everyone else doing?

I love fruit and have been finding it hard to limit how much I eat of that. I'm going to call my Dr's office to see about specifications. A friend who had the surgery at the same hospital said they recommended 90-130g carbs and 1000-1300 calories a day. My stall finally seems to be ending so I'm feeling relieved. I've been walking so far, aiming for atleast 8,000 steps a day to work up to 10,000. I was told to wait till the 6 week Point to lift more than 20lb.

Reading about how many calories you're getting in is making me nervous! I'm averaging 700-800 a day. I'm afraid I'm over eating. Nice to hear a doctor say average weight loss for the first month is 15lb. I lost more on my pre op liquid diet than I have so far post op ????
  14. From reading the boards I've taken that it is very common to have a stall around the 3 week mark. I have been experiencing one as well and have taken comfort in the knowledge that this is common and will pass. You're doing great!
