  1. @ I've been wanting to do that same thing. I miss the sensations of chewing food and different tastes!

    Pre-Op Diet Diary

A friend who went through the procedure last year recommended that up my walking and activity levels back to normal to help adjust my body to this lower calorie count. I set off today very excited to enjoy the mild weather and fresh snow fall only to experience more bowl issues that this liquid diet had plagued me with. Talk about frustration! This liquid diet cannot end soon enough! Rant over

    Starting liquid diet

Welcome to the March 26th club @Starespunn! I'm a week into my pre op diet so good luck! I hear it gets easier lol I figure the best attitude to have about all this is excitement for the future.
  4. Reading this thread had been very encouraging and supportive. I'm on day 8 of a 3 week liquid diet and have struggled everyday with it. There's the physical side effects but mostly I miss the variety routine as good as much as I miss the chewing and carbs. I've been tempted so many times but my family and friends are being strict with me and keeping me on the straight and narrow (I think I'll eventually appreciate it )

    Last Supper

I've heard that a heating pad is helpful and ditto the loose clothing. I've got a hospital bag I'm packing and have a book and iPod in there for some entertainment (still trying to decide on which knitting project to pack!)

    Pre-Op Diet Diary

'Carb flu' sounds about right I'm craving rye toast, today at work I smelled English muffins and nearly keeled over. I've also been feeling very lethargic, weak and with no energy at all. I'm waiting for this to end and my regular energy levels to return. Id also read it would be 3-4 days in but it's not the case for me either! I nearly caved today. I wanted to just hold a corn chip in my mouth.... Sounds so pathetic but it was a struggle for me. Goes to show how much food has been a focus in my life.

    Pre-Op Diet Diary

I'm on day 6 and I want to eat so badly! I miss the taste and texture of food. Not to mention the comfort and routine.
  8. I've lost about 10 lb so far and I'm on day 5 of 21. I'm having trouble with diarrhea so far but was just informed that taking fiber capsules will help. I'm pretty sick of the shakes already but I don't get the variety of products as many of you do

    Pre-Op Diet Diary

What brand of sugar free Popsicles are you using? I've been looking through my local grocery stores trying to to find some. It sounds like we have very similar pre op diets!

    Preop diet .... Please help

Day 5 and 10lb down which is helping with the motivation as I detest the shakes! I'm having trouble getting my fourth in every day.

    How Soon After Surgery?

Thank you so much @@truckerchic and @@Djmohr !
  12. Hi all, I'm 3 weeks away from my surgery (March 26) and would like some advice from those who have been there. I currently live at home (always have) and have been looking to move out after my surgery. I just found the perfect place, however the move in date is May 1st (about 5 weeks post op). I understand that I probably won't be able to do any of the lifting involved but I'm wondering more about from a mental standpoint if a change like this could be too much. What sort of changes and experiences were people having 1-3 months post-op? In your experience would making a big life change like this have been disruptive to your healing and learning process? Thank you so much in advance to anyone willing or able to share their experience with me, while I'm excited about (both of) these opportunities I don't want to jeopardize either

    Preop diet .... Please help

It's nice that you get to have a variety of protein drinks. My surgeon prescribes OPTIFAST and we must drink 4 of those a day totalling 900 calories and 90 grams of protein. We're allowed other clear liquids throughout the day. First shake down! 83 to go! Good Luck to you too @

    duplicate posts abound!

As a newbie I also find it annoying. May I so add a rant that I get frustrated by posts under the wrong forum? Sorry I'm an organizational nut. Is there a way for either the thread creator to move it the the appropriate section once it's been posted? Or must these sort of issues be brought to a moderator for them to adjust it? Thanks vets!

    March 25th!

Ack I should call and ask my program about the gum! I foolishly assumed! I've been stockpiling books, knitting and movies for both pre and post op. I think you're on to something with the distraction. I'd been wanting to go away on a trip for the first week of the liquid diet to help distract, but it's landed just as I've had to get my passport renewed!

    March 25th!

I start my all liquid diet March 5th. I just stocked up on gum hoping that will help. You guys are finding Jello helpful?! Maybe I'll give that a go! I've also been thinking of juicing some fruit and making a diluted ice slushy thing with it for a change in consistency. Is anyone planning a 'last dinner'? My coworkers are taking me out for Indian food

  24. Yahoo @jmco ! I'm so glad you're feeling better. It makes me feel a bit more relieved about this process. I'm kinda looking forward to the chocolate OPTIFAST. I bought a shaker bottle this morning

    Finally got a date!

I agree getting the date is a huge relief. I feel like the hard part of waiting is done and now I'm ready to get started on the doing!!
