Ugh...frustrated...family..May gave to change my surgery date
Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted this too soon...didn't get to say thanks for any advise... -
Soo nervous!
Wannabeskinnie replied to portuguesegal10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was at a bmi of just 35 but had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and severe arthritis, so I qualified based on that. My surgeon said it was ok to lose weight and get below the required bmi because insurance only takes into consideration your weight during the intake...double check with your dr but I believe you shouldn't have any worries -
Is this dumping syndrome?
Wannabeskinnie replied to mandyboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight loss center said sleeve patients can get dumping symptoms. It sounds like what you described. They also have us mixing our protein drinks with 1% milk. I am 9 days away and hoping not to experience this. -
Will I need a food scale for weighing things like meats, cheeses, etc. I am having surgery next week and trying to prepare, even though I can't even have for 3 weeks post op ☺️

What do you tell people?
Wannabeskinnie replied to QuilterGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I am proud of my decision...to me it's just a personal thing. I have support from my husband and my kids....I don't care to deal with judgemental people, be it good or bad. This is my journey not theirs. -
What do you tell people?
Wannabeskinnie replied to QuilterGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have also not hold anyone...Judy my husband and just recently my two teens only because they will be living with me seeing my liquid diet, etc...other than that, I am staying private I know a lot of people have said they were having a hiatal hernia fixed, I know my neighbor, who I knew was having it done, told most people she was having a female problem fixed...that stopped the questions...I don't like to lie, so not sure what I will say when people start to ask but will probably say I am eating high Protein, no surgar, watching portions, and exercising -
I am 13 days away and attempting to get everything in order. Quick question...I know many have said you can get PB 2 at walmart. I was there today and looked for it but couldn't find it..I looked where the regular Peanut Butter was and in the baking aisle...is it usually located somewhere else? Does anyone know what other stores carry it or should I just order online?

Thank you, I will check it out there.

4 month post op blood work results
Wannabeskinnie replied to robga999's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting.....were you taking b12 prior to this? How did these findings compare to before surgery! -
I know, I know, I know...the whole subject of whether to tell or not. I have chosen not to tell anyone about my upcoming surgery, only my husband knows. Problem is I have two teenagers still at home and I know I have to say something to them. I haven't said anything to them yet because I I don't want them accidentally telling their friends, or their cousins, etc. but they will know something's up when I am not home one night ( hubby said we can say I am visiting friends from college) but how will I explain my eating changes and discomfort I may be in? I really think I may just fib and say I am having a hiatal hernia fixed but I have never mentioned anything like this before. I'm so torn..if I tell them, I will feel better about not lying but I run the chance of my secret not being secret any more...then again, they might be able to keep it secret...help, my brain is spinning.????

How to tell the kids
Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also told them this is just between us...I don't want people knowing. I am not embarrassed or anything but I have a nosy, gossipy sister who works in a very large office where I used to work, and she's always negative about certain ones she's told me who have done the surgery. I also have a brother in law who loves to tell everyone everything...I just don't want this on the evening news lol. -
How to tell the kids
Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for all the different opinions. After I got my final insurance approval today (I had my surgery date already but this just made it more real), I decided to tell them.well, actually my 15 yr old saw the Flintstones vitamins and said Why do we have these? She was really confused, so it actually was the perfect time. My 17 yr old son said good for me and he was proud. My daughter said she wondered why I had so many spots lately. They aren't dumb so honesty was best. The clinker....they both said " don't tell M", my daughter studying abroad! -
Vitamins
Wannabeskinnie replied to CountryGirl5584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr also suggested flintstones with iron chewables, vitamin b12 sublingual, calcium with D, and vitamin c with iron. I have to do chewables for 6 weeks and can then switch to regular but they feel the vitamin b12 is better absorbed sublingually so will stay on the liquid of that one. -
Did you know Your Protein Drinks Can be Covered By Your Insurance?
Wannabeskinnie replied to Insure Nutrition's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I finally was able to get the online request to go through and it generated an email form letter back...says we can also help with scar cream....I will opt out of this though...I have had two other laparoscopic surgeries and no scar cream can completely help and those scars are almost completely faded on their own anyway. If I can get the vitamins and protein paid for by insurance I will be more than happy. -
Heading back to ER again, prayers please
Wannabeskinnie replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nprcowboy, have you tried phenergan for nausea? Don't give up on different nausea meds...my daughter suffers from chronic migraines and has severe nausea...there are many other nausea meds out there...good luck! -

How to tell the kids
Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hanna, can't I ask you a question? My oldest is away studying abroad...before she left I told her I would be thinner when she returns ( I was already planning this) when she comes back in May, I will be 2 months out....woukd you rather be surprised by a thinner mom, or should I tell her ahead of time? I have always planned on telling her when she returns but I really want to surprise her. -

How to tell the kids
Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Selena ..I have a 15 and 17!year old...they are mature, I just don't know if they woukd feel the same about the whole secret thing..to them it's probably no big deal..( I know my sons friends parents have both had the surgery...he's told me, they didn't, and we've been out yo dinner and lots of social functions with them, and I'm sure they don't want everyone knowing either..but people know) this is what want to avoid! I have my surgery 2 weeks..I think I might consider telling them, I really hate fibbing...ugh -

Terrified of sleep study
Wannabeskinnie replied to ****505 girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have to do an in lab study, can you have someone go with you? They do allow this. My daughter had one and we stayed in the room with her on a cot, but they need to know this ahead of time to get a cot for a guest. -
Family cruise @ 3 months post op

Can you bring some protein bars with you? As long as they are individually sealed, you can take off the ship and with you during the day. -
Gas, gas, go away...
Wannabeskinnie replied to Smye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr said some people develop lactose intolerance after surgery. Have you tried avoiding dairy to see if the gas goes away?
