Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery
Wannabeskinnie replied to jadama22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may appreciate a little afterwards..I felt nausea and a little pain..I'm sure it would have helped with this. Some people have no appetite afterwards...I am only a week out and forget tendering my protein..I can truly see the benefits post op -

Excited Yet Nervous
Wannabeskinnie replied to Annesia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week out today...I was discharged around 330 Saturday afternoon and out walking my dogs Sunday morning...walking helped with everything...gas ( but most was gone by time I left hospital ), pain ( although there really wasn't much Tylenol couldn't handle). I was never aware of them removing the breathing tube except my throat was sore..there gave me those sponge sticks to wet my mouth down with in recovery. I had broth and a Protein drink for Breakfast and it was hard getting them down..too full feeling. Only thing I needed at hospital was toothbrush and toothpaste, but they will supply a generic one for you if you want, a hairbrush, my ipad and charger..and I just used the clothes I wore to the hospital to go home in..just wear loose pants so it doesn't pull on your incisions ( I wore sweats). I have had other surgeries ( torn meniscus, shoulder arthroscopy) and this has been the easiest. My belly does spasm when I drink sometimes, but it's getting better each day. I cannot get 8 4oz Protein drinks in plus liquid so my nutritionist ok'd me to have 6 with extra protein added, as long as I get 60 g, and 48 oz of liquid. So far down about 12 pounds..crazy!! -
High blood pressure gone immediately after surgery
Wannabeskinnie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering if this happened to anyone else. My normally high blood pressure has been low normal since coming out of surgery...(was 150/94 now 109/69) i know drs are pleased, immediately took me off medication. I just find it weird that just the surgery caused to drop so much. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled but it just happened so quickly. I was just sleeved Friday so it's recent, but my heart rate was also low..ranged anywhere from 48-55. But again they said that's ok. Anyone else experience this? -
Surgery was yesterday

I was sleeved Friday...I dealt with the pain ok, but also am still having a hard time getting liquids down...I felt much better after walking the hospital floor and when I got home, walked around my neighborhood a bit and pain dropped significantly. Today was first day I was able to get about 40 oz/52 g of Protein but it's been difficult. My belly hurts whenever I drink but I think that pain is slightly better too..dr said it should go away as I heal but I still need to get my protein in. -
I am four days out and look the same..biggest bruise on the large incision..dr said it's ok as long as it wasn't oozing..I would call just to let them know

Back pain and itchy/painful incisions
Wannabeskinnie replied to Shell88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Friday and had a rough nite too..I slept on recliner but even that didn't really help. My incisions were sore and everytime I tried to sip..youch! But I just went out for a little walk and what a tremendous help that was..earlier was just walking around inside but outside was better..maybe it was the fresh air..now it's even easier drinking. My dr also has me taking 2 325 mg Tylenol and I think it's better than oxycodone. Hope you feel better soon..I can't wait to be 1-2 weeks out because dr said that's when I should feel normal. -
Headache is still with me. Hospital today
Wannabeskinnie replied to kyrickchick64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may have been triggered by the sugar free ingredients...ie aspartame. I'm so glad the imitrex helped! I'm heading to the hospital in a few hoyrs for surgery and I know my head is killing, but I'm hungry, scared, nervous, frightened, afraid....lol -
3 days to go and feel like chickening out!
Wannabeskinnie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has taken me 6 months to get to the point of surgery on Friday. As the day gets closer, not only am I getting nervous but am having second thoughts...do I really need this? (Bmi is currently 34.9) Am I going to regret this decision? I love to cook and bake...I spend a lot of time with my youngest teen slicing and dicing ( she wants to be a chef)...so sfraid of missing out on this ( silly, I know I will be eating). My mind keeps saying " maybe if I just go back on Atkins! I will lose weight" I read stories of the weight returning and never ending battle. Did anyone else feel this way? Have you actually gotten this close and said forget it, I'm not doing it? -

Thanks for all the positive responses...I guess I really needed to hear them...as giggleblye said, I did start this for a reason..I guess my knees will thank me, my heart will be very happy, and my family will be proud of me...two more days, liquid diet tomorrow, then on my way! -
Heading back to ER again, prayers please

I know this may sound silly, but have you tried Sea Bands? It's the acupressure bands people take when going on a boat, but also pregnant women for morning sickness. We swear by them, my daughter has taken during her worst migraines to help with the nausea. You can get at your local cvs or walgreens or walmart, next to Dramamine -
3 weeks out and still having trouble with protein and foods
Wannabeskinnie replied to graceday32001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are getting diarrhea after drinking your protein drinks, you may have developed lactose intolerance..I would try mixing with soy or almond milk to see if that makes a difference. -
I had surgery yesterday!
Wannabeskinnie replied to uni2424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nikki...I am also feeling the same as you..I am one week from today and second guessing my decision. Just came from my pre op testing..passed with flying colors...girlnatvregistration desk was like you aren't big enough! Are you serious? I want to run away but I know I won't...i hope anyway. -

Did you get the pain pump because of the hernia repair? How long will you have it? Was the hernia repair planned or was that a surprise? When do you start your Protein drinks? Glad everything went well...sounds so far so good!! -
Sleeved today and thanks!

Ugh...frustrated...family..May gave to change my surgery date
Wannabeskinnie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husbands mother spends winters in Florida with her boyfriend. She's the healthy one but just had a near fatal fall, landing her in ICU for couple days, now rehab until end of March, maybe longer..at which point she will fly home to Massachusetts . My hubby is down there now and told me he will be back no matter what in time for my surgery on the 13 th..it's only 9 days away...now I feel guilty about having him come back. ( he won't take no for an answer either).which means another family member will have to go down ( one brother just got home today...now hubby's turn). Problem is my sister in law who feels he should stay there and I should just switch my date...she doesn't know what my "procedure" is and I am not telling her. She just started a new job, blah blah blah...how set in stone are surgery dates once ins approval goes through ? Mid March just works out so well so I will be feeling much better by summer when kids will be home full time, and with our vacation plans..am I being selfish? How long would I need him to be with me at home if I have surgery on the 13 th...how long will I need an extra hand? I don't want to keep him from his mom but I really just want to get my surgery done with no hitches ..ugh -

Wannabeskinnie replied to Wannabeskinnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I can't change my surgery date unless I want to wait tilmid April ...and I don't....he is planning on coming home but everything will depend on his mom...I mean he will have to be hear because of the kids while I am at the hospital..and hopefully stay the week, as suggested by the surgeons office. -
Is my NUT nuts?
Wannabeskinnie replied to Mike4132's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told similar stuff also...in fact, I can't even try veggies until 7 weeks out. And they want me to never have starches ever again...protein always first and always the main bulk of the meal...chew chew chew up to 20-30 times and make meals last 20-30 minutes. It's gonna be tough just thinking about this! 8 days to go, no preop diet except one day. -

Are there any free clinics you could go to? You might be able to find once without having to shell out all kinds of $$$ and it's only one visit. Good luck -

That's what I hope to do...I guess it's guilt that's making me feel bad and thinking about rescheduling...if he comes home on the 12 th, then they are aline in FL by themselves and this is the whole thing my SIL is freaking about...but he can go back beginning of the week ...all I know is my head tells me to do one thing but that voice of my SIL is saying another... ( can you tell we font get along?)
