Congrats to you that have recently had the surgery! I was questioning every day my decision up until about 3 weeks post-op. I finally got some energy back and the flavor options that open up as you advance through the diet are a lifesaver. It is amazing that so little food can fill you up (my head still wants more because of the flavor, but I'll have to work through that on my own). Two significant changes I have had (except for the weight loss) is a total loss of my tolerance for drinks that are sweet in any way and horrible cotton-mouth when I wake up each morning even though I am getting 60+ oz. of Water every day.

Why our surgeon prescribes water/broth/jello only for one week post op when 95% of the rest of them say to start puree at day 3 is a mystery to me. End of day six for me now and I am absolutely drained of energy, pale and generally am regretting life.

Wow, that whole not having anything to drink for 36 hours was not fun. Oh yeah, the catheter was a pure joy as well. Anybody recommend a good broth (the mercy west stuff was actually pretty tasty)?

What's the Difference?
MattVanD replied to TheLumpyOne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lumpy, we must be brothers from another mother! My story is almost identical to yours (year older, a tad heavier) and share the same concerns but I KNOW what doesn't/hasn't worked for me. Now it is time to try this tool to help me battle. Feb 24th my journey continues... Good luck with your decision and your journey! -
Feb. 24th 2015 for me. A little nervous, not so much about losing the weight but more about being able to keep it off forever. So many attempts have failed before and I know my will is not as strong as I'd like. With early heart disease on both sides of my family, I know I need to do this if I have any shot of seeing my little girls grow up. Prayers and support welcome!
