I am a big fat phony failure

I've been fat since the 2nd grade, I've had a lot of assholes in my life. But good on you for being confident! I know I don't know your whole story, but with a starting BMI of 28, I certainly wouldn't consider you fat! That's barely overweight. I was 40 pounds heavier and 5 inches shorter when I decided to have WLS and I barely considered myself a "big girl". I hope you find the confidence to overcome whatever influences that have given you such a negative body image. Keep weeding out the assholes! Oh I used to be 230 a couple years before surgery and have just been teetering, I need to post some pics, I did not carry it well I love idaho, they are less judge mental! Lived there for a couple years, I miss old Chicago pizza..made me fat f*** though

    Diets Don't Work, but why?

http://commonhealth.wbur.org/2015/05/why-diets-dont-work “Studies show that willpower, the thing we all blame ourselves for not having enough of, is in many ways a mythical quality and certainly not something that can be relied upon for weight loss.” 'Turns out, a good bit of Mann’s plan calls for external changes, like using smaller plates and taking smaller portions, a la Brian Wansink’s Mindless Eating. ' I read this with a smug look on my face..

For me it got progressively better after the 3rd month and a daily intake of omeprazole

    Social Eating

As the anorexics do, spread your food around so it looks like you've eaten more, and pull disgusted looks both at your plate and people fatter than you at the table. Source: my sister was an anorexic.

  8. In the waiting room to get my surgery I had heard a whole group talking about being glad they won't have to deal with excessive hunger anymore, and how they know so and so that had it done and now have to remind themselves to eat. I did the research and it was interesting about the hunger hormone cells being removed with stomach and the chance of going away. For me, nope nope nope no and oh hell no. I am hungry all the freakin time, I am hungry 2 hrs after I eat anything. I've gotten into a snacking little rut I am trying to break, but dang- I myth busted that for myself. Maybe I need more protein, but that would of helped the hunger before surgery as well, there is no change whatsoever. Only thing that changed is the size, good thing there are not enough hours in the day to eat that much.

    I Love My Coffee

I have to be honest and say I drank it up until 2 days before without issue, but that's just me and I was bad on my pre-op diet, I wouldn't suggest it.

Maybe I am atypical, but the sleeve didn't help with hunger

I eat a lot of carbs, I don't pay attention to what I eat, just how many calories. That's my biggest addiction right now and I am struggling

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

I love beer, all beer. Before surgery, I completed a couple beer tours at my local pizza place ( that's 220 beers). Post surgery, no fun no more. I drink a few sips, and that's enough, you can't even drink enough to get a happy buzz before it becomes uncomfortable. Beer is fattening anyway, I don't miss it day to day.

Good luck! Carbs and sugar make you crave sugar so walk away! lol Also some artificial sweeteners do the same so use sparingly...you can do it!!

  13. Oh are those the nut/ham/cheese packs? I saw those at the store yesterday, just a bit spendy for what you get... I got a lunch able instead and some cute tiny spaghettios, kind of naughty.
  14. I love the quiche squares idea, what kind of unflavored protein powder do you use?
  15. Whatever you do, don't take it a couple days after surgery. I did this without thinking..and..ouch!
  16. First day back at work-6days after surgery- they gave out gourmet cupcakes. I picked at this chocolate cupcake all day, it was so good and naughty

    I Love My Coffee

You won't have to give it up for long, I went back on it a couple weeks after. In fact, I am heading out soon to get a grande something!

    Lying to feel better?!?

I agree with being honest, there should be a website/thread where people post pics of themselves and get back honest, constructive feedback. I would want to know if my clothes were so tight someone noticed my pubes-lol.

    Food

I ate popcorn 5 days later, grounded to a paste

    Coconut Water ?

I went to Mexico to get mine and coconut water was something I could drink right after. I normally hate it, but it was the very best thing in the world right after surgery, it made everything feel good, easier to drink than water, and better than broth.

Maybe I am atypical, but the sleeve didn't help with hunger

I don't really understand the concept of 'head hunger' when I'm hungry, I eat, it goes away. I don't see the idea of it. Except sometime I think I can eat a whole cow, and it only takes a few bites before I am good....

    My sleeve surgery at 15

Nice, you are young and it should be pretty easy to lose a ton of weight, I wouldn't worry at all, I wish I had this done when I was 15! don't forget to exercise and you can't go wrong..

    Depression and anxiety

Yes, it was quitting smoking.. That tore me up, and not having sweets on top of it made it worse. Take it one day at a time. It will bbe so good for you. Smoking is horrible on the stomach, and increases chances of complications in before/after surgery, keep up the good work and look towards the future.
