    Can't tolerate protein drinks

I'm intolerant to whey protein. Within 30 minutes it gives me awful diarrhea. I loved the taste of Premier Protein but don't know what to do now for protein until I start a pureed diet next week. Sorry just realized this is a bypass forum. Would still like to know whey alternatives.

    HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

@@samanthajo2590 My insurance wouldn't cover the liquid so I also got pills. Cut them in half or fourths and see if you can take them. I cut the tylenol w codeine in half at first but now just take the whole pill.

    HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

Hello - I had my surgery last Tuesday, Jan 5th. I was originally scheduled for November and did my two week prep only to cancel due to getting bronchitis the day before surgery. I'm doing really good and the hospital stay was a breeze. Much less pain from the surgery than I expected and what I had was treated with pain meds. I did have a side effect from the anesthesia after I was home that lasted about 1 1/2 days and it was painful and unexpected but got a new pain med for it that helped a lot. Never had a problem drinking or swallowing. I was given ice chips as soon as I woke up in recovery. My doctor no longer does the leak test based on new findings so I could have liquids when I got to my room. I was able to walk right away. Never got sick or nauseated. Hope this helps those of you awaiting surgery. I hope you have as easy a time as I did.

    VSG & Microscopic Colitis

@@Mistie Thanks so much! I'm hoping this stops soon. My gastroenterologist said the same thing - the stomach surgery should not affect the intestines.

    VSG & Microscopic Colitis

Hi @@Heather_Feather - I also have microscopic colitis and I'm wondering how you've done since having your vsg surgery. I've had it for years and after many years of being on Entocort I was able to get off of that and my last biopsy was clear. I've been in remission for over a year but now has flared up again. I'm scheduled for surgery two weeks from now and getting anxious about the MC and surgery.

    Just Got My Surgery Date

@@pammy0425 Hi Pammy - I'm not really nervous...yet! My preop diet sounds a lot easier than a lot I've read - no more than 30 grams of carbs per day and at least 60 grams of protein so I can have real food at all three meals and/or supplement with protein drinks. Keeping under 30 carbs is, uh, challenging! I'm with you about getting everything over with. Where are you having your surgery? Mine will be in Austin same day as yours but not until 3:30 in the afternoon. That will be a long day.
  7. Hello - I completed all of my preop requirements about three weeks ago, had my appointment with my surgeon last Friday and was scheduled for surgery on Nov 17. I'll start my preop diet tomorrow Nov 3. Mine will consist of no more than 30 carbs per day and it will be low fat but I can have a big variety of meals as long as I keep the carbs under 30.
