    Breakfast

I drive thru McDonald's almost every morning for a low fat yogurt parfait!

    Protein powder?

Personally, I could never do unflavored protein powder, especially at first, because I wasn't able to mix it into enough food to hide the taste! The "unflavored" tastes awful to me!

    Fat confessionals

Here's my latest NSV...I just put 10 pairs of size 24 jeans & capris (all the same brand and style haha!) on an online garage sale!!! I'm in a 20 now and soon will be 18! It feels great going down, down, down! I started in April in a 26/28!!!
  4. I have lost 55 pounds in 14 weeks. What I notice is that I fit in pants that are 3 sizes smaller, but I look pretty much the same to myself. Not to others, tho. They see the changes before we do, I think!
  5. Gave up my Diet Dr. Pepper 3 months before my sleeve surgery. Replaced it with McDonalds Diet Sweet Tea. I am 14 weeks post op. I drank only water and juice for the first 10 weeks, but have been drinking DST again for about a month now. It doesn't have any carbonation, but some have said NO CAFFEINE either. Thoughts???
  6. I am an April sleever, too...4/9/15. My sw was 285 and today I'm at 230!!! I feel like it's moving slowly, however, any other time I have tried to lose weight in my life, the numbers went down and up, down and up...not anymore! I'm loving the fact that they only go down now! Sometimes, even if the numbers don't move, I go down another size! I've gone from a 26 to a 20 and getting closer to an 18! When I look in the mirror, I look mostly the same to myself, but others don't see me that way. Wonder why I can't see what they see? Looking forward to the day I see a totally different person in that mirror! Let's keep on encouraging each other! Glad to hear from other April sleevers!

    memory foam mattress

Slept in the recliner for the first week! Then, back in bed with lots of pillows!!!
  8. Can some of you, who have had a negative experience trying to drink carbonated drinks again after surgery, tell exactly what happened that made you decide "I'm not doing this ever again"? I am SO tired of water and fruity diet flavorings and decaf tea!!! I want my Diet Dr Pepper back!

    Diverticulitis

My dr always prescribes an antibiotic and something for pain. It always gives relief within 12-24 hrs. This time was no different. Thanks, all, for sharing.
  10. Has anyone, who suffered with occasional flair ups of diverticulitis, had one since you got your sleeve? I really thought I would never have one again, but here I am so painful! It's my own fault. Ordered retried beans today at a Mexican restaurant. But, instead of being a good girl and eating them with a spoon, I dipped some chips in it! Now I lay here in so much pain! Just curious about anyone else.

    Constipation

I had this problem 2 weeks post op. To avoid it: 1) STOP PAIN MEDS ASAP; 2) drink fluids like crazy; 3) walk and move as much as possible; 4) take a stool softener every night before bed; 5) take Miralax every morning! I'm 11 weeks out now, and have never had another problem with it!
  12. I have had diverticulitis, but not since surgery - April 11! Before, my dr would prescribe an antibiotic and some pain melds, so I could deal with the severe pain. That always worked quickly!
  13. I've read that we should avoid caffeine because it causes us to be hungry and it makes you retain water. Has anyone lived on regular caffeinated tea with no problems? I can't stand the taste of decaf!

    best vitamins/best tasting vitamins

I really like Children's Chewable Multi-Vitamins from Target - comparable to Flintstones!
  15. I'm 10 weeks post-op. For the last 2 days, I've been getting that painful, too full feeling, after each meal! Twice I've had to make myself throw up to get any relief! I think I'm making a mistake by "guessing" how much food I'm eating. Wonder if I need to go back to measuring again? I see so many of you eating lots more at this point than I'm allowed, according to my plan, which is 3 ounces! Anyway, when you get that "too full" feeling, what do you do for relief?

    Best protein?

    Chocolate Premier Protein!
  17. My surgery was 4/9/2015 and I'm down 47 lbs. so far. I am eating pretty much anything I want at this point, just very little of it! I've been enjoying salad for the last week. Nice to have something kinda crunchy now! I'm not an "eat at home" person, so I do eat out most days. I eat yogurt with fruit most mornings, but I have also had a scrambled egg with bacon or sausage. Sometimes I get an egg mc muffin and eat it without the English muffin. For lunch, I often have Wendy's or Culver's chili, Fazoli's side salad, a cheeseburger (no bun), bbq chicken sandwich (no bun) and baked beans from KFC, or soup from Pizza Hut or Panera. Dinner time can be the insides of a taco and refried beans, salad with deli turkey or grilled chicken, many of our favorite restaurants serve meals that my husband and I can share! I just try to eat at least 2 oz. of protein before anything else on the plate. I'm only allowed 3-4 ounces of food per meal, at this point, anyway. I eat 3 meals a day, and drink 1 or 2 protein shakes. I drink water or tea between meals and eat cheese sticks, SF Popsicles or SF Jello for snacks. Hope this is somewhat helpful for you.

    Do shakes count as fluids

Even 4 oz sugar free Popsicles count toward your fluid intake!

    Drinking Diet Soda

    Thanks!

    Drinking Diet Soda

Interesting. I know several people who have had the surgery a couple years ago and now drink diet Coke or whatever with no problems. Hmm...

    Protein Intake

I tried so many and ONLY like Premier Protein Chocolate!!! It doesn't taste like protein to me at all...just chocolate milk!
  22. My advice is to walk, walk, walk...drink, drink, drink...and get off of your narcotics ASAP! This will keep you from becoming constipated and will speed up your recovery! I didn't adhere to this advice and suffered greatly the first week! After I realized the error of my ways, I got with the program and have done fine ever since. I am 7 weeks post op. Also, don't let yourself get overwhelmed, trying to get in all your protein, vitamins, food, etc. for those first few weeks. Do what you can, but don't be hard on yourself. Water/fluids are the most important of all! Good luck to you!

    Bad breath

My nutritionist recommended drinking 2-3 8oz. glasses of apple juice to take care of the ketosis, which gives you that metallic taste in your mouth and bad breath.
  24. I had a hard time finding one I liked, but have finally settled on Muscle Milk Pro 32, Knockout Chocolate flavor! 32 grams of protein!
