Looking for December 2014 sleeve support/friends...
CJSLEEVE posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey gang, I was sleeved on 12/22 with an umbilical hernia repair and it has been an excellent experience overall. Since I'm keeping the surgery a secret (I have a lot of judgemental people around me), im looking for some folks to go through this journey with. If you were sleeved in December of 2014, please friend me on here as well as on Myfitnesspal. My user name is ChrisJane180. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to encouraging each other! -
Looking for December 2014 sleeve support/friends...

Hello friends! What an amazing year, huh? Getting the VSG was the best decision I've ever made. I am now the lightest I have ever weighed as an adult, and it is remarkable how differently you are treated when you are thin. I'm sure you all have noticed that as well. Once I was cleared to begin weight training I got in the gym and started training hard, something I've continued 6 days a week. I'm a lot more relaxed with what I eat now, if I want to have a treat I have it. But food doesn't have the power over me it used to. I still focus on the basics, getting my Protein in. Lot of eggs, meat and cheese. I still use supplements heavily. I can eat a regular portion of food now before becoming full. I eat around 2000-2500 calories a day, and usually get a couple hundred grams of protein in. The weight loss has slowed to a crawl now, but I really don't care. I look good, and feel good, now it's just about toning up the midsection, which is going to take some time. You couldn't tell by looking at me, but I've got some loose skin around my stomach that I am hoping will bounce back over the next year or so. I haven't been on this board in months, but would still love to hear how the rest of you are doing with your journeys. God bless. CJsleeve -

@@LisaLouBop it's going really well Lisa. I've had a couple of stalls that each lasted 2 weeks. But other than that, I'm loving life. Down almost 95lbs since starting this process. Best decision I've ever made -
Any Northern Michigan Sleeves?
CJSLEEVE replied to bap020799's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kelly1223 That's great Kelly. It all happened really quickly for me too. If you get to pick a DR, ask for Dr. Baker, but all of the surgeons and PA's are really great. My wife and I both went with DR Baker and had a perfect experience. -
Any Northern Michigan Sleeves?
CJSLEEVE replied to bap020799's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kelly1223 that's where I had my sleeve done in December! You're in good hands. Hey fellow Michiganians! I'm a little south of you in Big Rapids, which is an hour north of Grand Rapids and about an hour south of Traverse, but I'd love to be your buddy. If you are on myfitnesspal, feel free to add me so I can be your cheerleader. It's ChrisJane180 Best of luck on your journey! -
Has anyone found a firming cream that works?
CJSLEEVE replied to jlcohio's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been using Jergen's but whether it works or not?... Not sure yet. Would love to hear from the veterans on this. -
Medicaid of Michigan covers the surgery and with that BMI you won't have to wait. You just need to make sure your surgeon accepts Medicaid and you're good to go. I was approved in less than a week and had my surgery in less than a month. Best of luck!

@@O2IVEKG You and I were sleeved the same day. Are you on myfitnesspal by any chance? I'd love to add you so we can encourage each other.

I think you're on the right track. And with chicken, for instance, 4oz can give you 23g of protein. I liked to melt a little cheese on top to kick it up to 30g. But just stop eating as soon as you feel full.

So happy for you! Thanks for holding up a mirror and letting us know that we can do it too... Congratulations!

Fantastic Mike! Congrats. I think I'll go check one of my old pairs of 36's just for fun... ETA: I don't even own any 36's!!! But thanks to you I found out that I have now dropped from 46's to 38's. I'll take that.????

Stalled so soon
CJSLEEVE replied to Natasha Estrada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/22 and hit my first stall at about 3.5 weeks out. It lasted a little over a week before I realized that I was eating too many carbs. Cut them back to less than 50 a day and the scale started moving again. (This may have been a coincidence, but I'll take it.) -
What activities are you looking forward to doing?
CJSLEEVE replied to Eli Alexander's topic in The Guys’ Room
Pull-ups... There was a brief window of time in my early twenties when I could do pull-ups and I'd like to get back to that again. I'd also like to be able to get into and out of a canoe without every pair of eyes on the beach staring at me to see if I'll sink it... -
There's no guarantee that the apnea will go away when you lose weight. Plus, if you have severe apnea like I do, you're putting yourself in danger of a heart attack or stroke. The CPAP is really not bad...

Congrats! The required sleep study probably added years to my life. I would never have gone if my surgeon didn't insist on it. Turns out I stop breathing 136 times an hour!! Now I sleep right through the night on my machine and my average is now 1.4 times an hour. I didn't even know what it felt like to be well rested...

I could use some friends on myfitnesspal as well. User name ChrisJane180.

Ok cool. I added you. We're both starting from about the same place so it'll be nice to go through the process with you. Food journaling is crucial to success and myfitnesspal with its bar scanner makes it super easy. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I really started taking it seriously.

Hey Eli, I made the same decision to stay home and avoid temptation. And even though your team didn't win, you have to admit that was a great game, huh? Anyway, I'm wondering if you and Bry are on Myfitnesspal? I'd love to be able to have some guys for support. My username is ChrisJane180. Best of luck!
