I'd love to start this thread going. I attend OA meetings and the support, honesty, and peace I find is critical for me. I am parenting myself, putting my needs first, validating my inmost feelings; the ones I thought were only mine to bear. I thought it was all mumbo-jumbo...I realize now how complex my relationship with myself, food, and emotions really is. I also realize WLS is only a small part of my overall journey. Is there anyone else who is interested in keeping in touch?

    July sleevers?

Surgery was yesterday. Lots of pain on day one, but managing it with meds now. Should be getting out of hospital later on today.
  10. I am not sure how your visits and approval process goes, but for me, the Nutritionist's clearance was the HARDEST to get. She wanted weight loss, consistent tracking on MFP, and demonstration of high Protein intake. While these things seem fairly simple, after a two week stretch and a 3 pound gain, she withheld clearance, thereby extending my time. It was frustrating, and very challenging. I understand her job is to help me embrace these changes, but it was hard knowing that all I needed was the green light from her in order to go to the surgeon.

This liquid crap in on my last nerve...

I understand. Its tough, but remember the goal is to shrink that liver so that your surgeon can perform your surgery successfully. Listening to a lot of music helps, too. XO, Ms A

    Surgery on a few hours

    Thinking Happy Thoughts!!!!
  15. Hi everybody! I am just getting started with the process. I have BCBS coverage and I am in Michigan. I am working with Sparrow Weight Management. I have sat through the introductory meeting / Q&A session, contacted my insurance and I have my first appointment which will include my physical and initial paperwork to submit to the insurance company later this month. I am so excited! I have learned so much from this amazing network of individuals already, and look forward to learning more. I also look forward to sharing my experience. XO, Ms. A

    At the starting line...

Momma_missie,Getting approved was no Problem. I received approval after submitting my initial paperwork. My BMI was above 50, which Meant I had no regimen. I needed to receive clearances from a behaviorist, exercise specialist, and dietitian before getting referred to the surgeon. This took about two months because of the need to demonstrate to the nutritionist that I could get all of my nutrients in. My surgery date was scheduled today with my surgeon. I'm getting the sleeve on the15th of July. I anticipated having a date in May, but rethought things because I decided to wait until school let out for me and my daughter. I'm glad I waited. Tomorrow I begin my two week liquid diet.☺️
  17. You both look amazing! Great job!
  18. Well, I set mine 18 pounds lower than my lowest weight, which was 188. I figure 170 would look great. On me. And, seriously, I had no idea you were a guy. I don't look at stats often (unless it's mine...vain, I know????) Please don't get it twisted. Unless you are a blood relative to Hitler, I doubt anyone is intentionally ignoring you. Most of the time, I only go to rooms I've participated in, to see what's new. I figure other Folks probably do the same. At any rate, it looks like you put a lot of time and energy into your post... Maybe you'll get the responses you've always wanted! Too bad you won't be around to enjoy it. Heres's a hug.((((((AV)))))) Don't let the door hit ya????

    Let's Share

What is CoDA? I have discovered that the steps are tougher than I thought!!! On the bright side, I've started to sense the emotions behind my urges, I just can't name them. Anyone experience this? It's like I disconnect or something.
  22. Mine was on a computer. 10 minutes, tops. I had to wait a week for results though.
  23. I loved juicing, but cleanup is a huge chore. I'm not a big fan of scrubbing the fibers from fruits and veggies from the machine every time I wanted to juice, but there are nice machines out there that make the job a little easier (the Hurom slow juicer, for example). Keep us posted! XO Ms. A
