I told my parents, and my boss. I told my parents because I knew that they would support me even if they didn't agree 100%. I told my boss because we are really close, and in the event I needed more time off, I wanted her to understand why. She was very supportive as well. It was funny, because I expected an argument. I expected people to disapprove or make comments. No one did. That let me know that I was a little worried about my decision, so I spent a little more time researching and thinking about why I was doing it and also thinking about the changes that I would have to undergo in order to make this a success for me. That helped a lot. Other than that, I don't plan on sharing it with anyone. I think the more that I share it with people, the more I open myself up to their opinions.

Your honesty is so refreshing! I have just come to the point where I realize that I am going to have to address my need (or should I say my dependence) upon food to experience life. I agree with the others that you will change, however I think that all of us can consider the change of opportunity rather than a stumbling block. I recently came to the conclusion that I am going to have to become aware of the subconscious connections that I've made with food and that to me is the most daunting challenge. There's a lot of things that my subconscious takes care of for me that I don't really have to consider which means that I'm going to end up questioning my motives more often then I have in the past. How do any of you plan on becoming more aware of your habits?

Hi, I'm Ms. A! I am a 37 year old single parent with a wonderful seven-year-old daughter. I teach and have been teaching for quite some time. When my daughter was quite young I went back and got my Masters degree and I'm quite proud to have achieved that feat, however; The amount of work was insane! I have decided to get the gastric sleeve in order to live a more for filling life. Early on when I was younger, I loved to run. It is an absolute thrill to be out in the elements, especially early in the morning when the sun is just beginning to rise. My goal is to bequeath that same love of fitness and nature to my daughter. I look forward to learning from all of you :-)

You are a valuable person and the people in your life that are blessed enough to experience your gifts will celebrate any choice which makes you happy. Focus on those who are able to shower you with that positivity! XO, Ms.A -
BCBS of Michigan. Waiving the six months?
MsAlaineus replied to juhneefurr's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS of MI as well. My BMI is 51.9, and I am just beginning to start the process. My first appointment is later this month, however I am surprised to learn that in some cases the waiting period is waived. I will post again here when I learn more. Thank you for sharing! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
MsAlaineus replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
1. Showing my I.D. to vote and being scrutinized because my DL photo is so different 2. Pain: back, knees, hips. 3. Fatigue 4. Sitting in the same chair during a week long workshop and realizing the tiles have cracked and are GIVING WAY under the footpads of my seat. 5. Leaving my daughter without a mother 6. Constant thoughts of food -
