    July sleevers?

1 week post-op and I feel awesome, I'm about 98% back to normal. Down 14 pounds since surgery and 39 since starting my journey.

  3. I've been loving Progresso Light Creamy Potato with Bacon & Cheese. I just strain out the chunks and add some pepper. It's really good!
  4. It's definitely different for everyone. I was sleeved on Monday and I feel great. I was driving and took my kids to the dentist (20 minutes away) on Wednesday. Yesterday I spent 4+ hours at a party. I never really had pain, just sore ab/stomach muscles. I have never felt any incision pain. Now at 6 days post-op I feel almost completely normal, there's just very slight discomfort when I get up from the couch due to using those muscles that still aren't 100%.
  5. Sleeved Monday and down 11 pounds since Sunday!
  6. I was sleeved on Monday and I'm doing great. They all thought I was a rockstar at the hospital, I even got discharged a day early. Yesterday was my first full day home and I drank 3 shakes and got in 58 grams of protein. I thought I'd be struggling more! Today I'll get 62 grams in. Yesterday I even drove my 3 kids to the dentist 20 minutes away. That was a bit much and I probably shouldn't have done it but I did. Today I had to bring my daughter to and from camp, but that a shorter drive in town. I'm pretty pleased with how well everything is going!

  8. I was just sleeved on Monday. Yesterday I had 3 shakes, 6oz, 7oz, and 8oz and they each took an hour to drink. Today I've had two 8oz shakes and I plan on having one more this evening. Again, they're taking me an hour to get down.
  9. I'm still doing great! I was released a day early and got home yesterday evening. I spent the night in my recliner, slept pretty well, and sipped on Water every time I woke up. Today (Wednesday, surgery was Monday) I had 3 shakes throughout the day and got in 58 grams of protein! I thought that was pretty awesome for my first day home. I did overdo a bit when I took my 3 kids to the dentist, which was a 20-minute drive away. I needed to take an oxycodone and collapsed in my chair when we got home. And my husband surprised me with a Fitbit Charge today. So far, so good!
  10. I had my surgery this morning at 7:30am. When they woke me up in recovery I had killer gas pains in my abdomen and left shoulder. I used my pain pump generously and did a lot of moaning. The next thing I knew I was in my room and sleeping while the nurses bustled around me. I remember using my pain pump a few more times. The belly gas pains were gone and the shoulder gas was more an annoyance than painful. Then I told them I needed to use the bathroom to pee. They told me I'd only been out of recovery for an hour so I would need to use a bedpan. No thank you! They were extremely hesitant to let me get up and walk so soon but I needed to use the toilet. They did hover over me the entire time I was peeing because they were afraid I would fall forward and land on the floor. I was fine! They were shocked that I was doing so well, absolutely no pain, nausea, or dizziness. I then went back to bed and slept until 2 or 3, never using the pain pump. At 3 I got up to use the bathroom again and this is when I felt the searing pain in my abs. It felt like I'd done 500 crunches. In all my months of research and reading the forums I had somehow never come across even a mention of ab pain. Seriously, it's BAD. But only when in get up or need to move in my bed. Just laying in bed I don't feel it. I then took a lap around the hospital floor. My nurses were in awe of me. My vitals have been amazing all day and I haven't used the pain pump since morning. My surgeon came to check on me and was so impressed that he's already cleared me to go home tomorrow instead of Wednesday. Aside from the ab pain I feel amazing, like I didn't even have surgery. I came in thinking it would be a breeze and it has been! I just wanted to share because it's been such a great experience for me. Time to drink another refreshing ounce of water! Looking forward to Jello and popsicles in the morning!

    July sleevers?

I envy that you didn't have to do the liquid preop diet! Are you planning on any protein clear liquids? If so, let me know because I switch from full liquids to clear liquids on Tuesday (for surgery on Wednesday) and I'm struggling with what to "eat". I wish you luck for surgery and please let us know how it goes I have some Syntrax Nectar samples that have protein but I think I'm going to save those for post-op. I also have the unflavored protein powder that I could mix in with broth, but I'm also thinking I don't want to open a whole container of broth if I'm going to be leaving for the next couple days. So I'll probably be going protein-free for the day and just trying to ignore my hunger. It's 1pm and I haven't had anything at all today. I'm sure it'll hit me tonight though!

    July sleevers?

2 more days!!! My pantry and fridge are fully stocked and I took my 'before' pics today. I'm so ready! My husband and I went out to dinner tonight for my "final meal". I had fried clams, fried scallops, and the best clam chowder. (It's summer in Maine, I needed to get one last fried seafood fix.) Tomorrow is clear liquids only. Yum! And then Monday I go to the hospital at 6am for the first surgery of the day at 7:30. I can't wait!

    Hate chewable multivitamins

I also went with Flintstones. I compared them to Opurity and two Flintstones were very similar to the Opurity Bariatric vitamins, except I'll need to supplement B12 and Vitamin D.
  14. Definitely bring up the white tongue at your appointment. That sounds like thrush and you'll need medication to treat it.

I get to leave my toes polished. Thank goodness, I think my feet look hideous without color!

    I need help

I was just researching Vitamins the other night. It looks like Opurity are the best because it's just one per day and it covers everything except calcium, so no need for extra B12 or Vitamin D. With anything else you will most likely need to take two per day and supplement B12 and Vitamin D. They were reasonably priced too. You can order them from Opurity.com. I was also researching unflavored Protein powders to add to Soups and yogurt and other foods. unjury seems to be a really popular choice. I'm pretty sure opurity.com also had that. I decided to go with Syntrax nectar from Amazon. It had great reviews and was cheaper than Unjury but had pretty much the same nutritional info.
  17. I was approved on 7/6 and surgery is on 7/27.
  18. Have you tried the Bolthouse Farms Ranch? It's a yogurt dressing and it is SO good. A much better choice than regular ranch, you get more bang for your buck.
  19. Congrats! I'm July 27 and I can't wait! If you PM me your email I'll invite you to our private FB group for July Sleevers!
  20. I went to the informational seminar in February. My insurance (Cigna) requires a 90-day supervised diet and my first appointment was March 10. I met all of my program's requirements during those 90 days and I finally met my surgeon on June 19. I'm scheduled for surgery on July 27.

    Waiting Impatiently

Something similar happened to me. I finally met my surgeon on June 19 and he told me they'd send everything off to insurance that afternoon and approval would only take 2-3 days. About 10 days went by and I called my insurance to check the status and they had never received anything! So I called my surgeon's office and the woman told me I was at the top of the pile and would be the next to be sent off. No explanation why it wasn't sent in when they told me it would be. They called me last Monday to say I'd been approved and then Wednesday they called to schedule me and I'll be having my surgery 2 weeks from tomorrow! So hang in there. It really does suck when you've done all you can and you just have to sit and wait and rely on others to do their parts. I hope you get your date soon!

  24. I would also go with the 401k loan. It's really not a bad option at all. Good luck!
