    July sleevers?

I was also sleeved on 7/27. I'm on purées and I haven't had anything that's actually pureed. My favorite is tuna mixed with Miracle Whip and I add tiny tiny chopped pickles (no peel or seeds) and cheese. Last night and today I had baked salmon, not even close to a puree but my NUT said it was fine. It felt great to be chewing real delicious food! I also love refried Beans mixed with cheese and plain Greek yogurt.

    Question for everyone

I had surgery on a Monday and was driving on Wednesday. I drove my 3 kids to the dentist 20 minutes away. Thursday and Friday I drove my daughter to and from camp. I never took any painkillers at home so I was fine to drive.

    Here fishy fishy....

What are your surgeon's/NUT's instructions? At 8 days I was still on liquids. I was cleared for fish at 2 weeks.

How much weight loss first 3wks

Today was my Week 3 weigh-in and I'm down 23 lbs.

    Hospital bag

I brought a brush, my fave lip balm, my phone, and an extra long charger. That's it. I wore home the same clothes that I wore in, loose yoga pants and a tshirt. I had no problem wearing a regular bra.
  6. I was sleeved on 7/27 and I'm having a hard time with this too. I can eat two bites and feel full but obviously that's not enough to sustain me. I'm on purées but I'm having hearty purées (ricotta bake, tuna, refried beans with cheese, scrambled eggs) not soupy runny stuff. So I measure out my 2oz portion and give myself 30 minutes to eat. I usually eat all 2oz or leave a few bites by the time 30 minutes is up. I eat super slowly and I don't feel uncomfortably stuffed when I'm done. So I think I'm doing okay?

    Puréed Food Stage

Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt is a great choice. It's zero added sugar, zero fat, and zero artificial sweeteners.

What to pack for the hospital

I brought a brush, lip balm, my phone, and an extra long charger. That's it. I wore loose comfy clothes in and wore the same ones home. I showered right before I left for the hospital, there was no need to shower there and I had no desire to. They gave me a little pillow to hold against my belly and I was told to bring it with me for the car ride home.

    Gummi Vitamins

Did your NUT tell you to take 4? Because a regular dose is just one. I take 2 Flintstones a day. If you compare the nutritional info of two Flintstones to other multivitamins they're very similar. Four is probably too many. You might want to double check just to make sure you're not overdoing it.
  10. My program required a 2 night stay. However, I did so well and was feeling so great that they let me leave after one night.
  11. I take Flintstones Complete. Yummy!
  12. It's different for everyone. I didn't retain any fluids and started losing immediately, by one week post-op I was down 14 lbs. It's hard to get your fluids in at first but try your best. Fluids in = fluids out.

I Don't Know What to Eat! Help!

Go on Pinterest and look up 'bariatric recipes' or 'high protein dinners'. There are tons of easy things out there!

The importance of a food scale!

That's the scale I have. Great scale for a great price!
  15. I really like Progresso Light Creamy Potato with Bacon & Cheese. I just strain out the chunks and add some black pepper.
  16. No shakes. Sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, broth, crystal light, water...
  17. Even if you're running them through a blender of food processor? For me pretty much anything goes as long as it's pureed. I can have white flaky fish if I mash it with a fork.
  18. Go on Pinterest and look up Bariatric puree recipes. Tons of ideas! I get to switch to purées on Tuesday (2 weeks out) and I can't wait. I'm gagging down shakes right now. I have yummy things planned. Scrambled eggs with feta. Chili. Refried Beans with chicken, cheese, and sour cream. Ricotta bake. Ground beef and ricotta in marinara. Tuna with mayo and pickles (no peel). I see so many people complaining about being sick of Soups and yogurt. Think outside the box, people!

    July sleevers?

I was sleeved on 7/27 and I'm down 18 lbs. I average about 350-400 calories a day and I'm still on full liquids. I am eagerly counting down to Tuesday when I can start purées. Right now I am gagging my shakes down! I have so many wonderful things planned for purées. I just can't wait to taste food again!

    Ghrelin

I was sleeved on 7/27 and I have felt no hunger since day 1. I only eat because I'm supposed to.
  21. I went to my pcp and said "I'm going to be having the gastric sleeve surgery and I'll be needing a letter from you saying that you recommend it." I didn't ask for his permission. I just told him what I wanted.

To straw or not to straw

I was told not to at first because I would drink too fast. I'm about 10 days out and I've been using a straw for the past 4 days or so with no issues. I tend to drink more when I use a straw and I've been meeting my water goals ever since I started using one again.
  23. I had nobody with me during my surgery or anytime I was in the hospital. That's fine, there's no need for that. But you will definitely not be driving yourself home and most hospitals will not allow you to take a cab.
  24. Today was my 1-week weigh-in and I'm down 14lbs.
