Anyone else 6 weeks post op?
MrsRoboto replied to nn1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 weeks out. I've been stalled for 2 weeks, which I know from reading on here is very typical, but it's still incredibly frustrating and a real head game. -
Flintstones Complete (2 per day), they're my candy treat!

Quick Poll - best purer food to start on!
MrsRoboto replied to smileygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I lived off tuna (mixed with Miracle Whip) and cottage cheese. -
Endoscopy expectations
MrsRoboto replied to volsfan82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very nervous about the endoscopy but it was a piece of cake. Mine was at the hospital but in a little office room, not the OR. I kept my clothes on too, no gown. I had no sore throat or any after effects. It is like blinking and it's over. -
No pain for me. I think I used the pain pump 3 times in the hospital immediately following surgery, and then nothing for the rest of my stay. They sent me home with a prescription for painkillers and I never used them. My friend just had her surgery and it was exactly the same for her.

Quantity of Food - 4 weeks out
MrsRoboto replied to sallydswanson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you supplementing with something? You can't be getting enough protein from just a few bites. I have to measure so I know how much protein is in my serving. I'd never meet my goals if I didn't eat my measured portions. -
I like to lick things
MrsRoboto replied to kranky813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I chewed and spit while on liquids. It wasn't even bad stuff, it was chicken and cherry tomatoes mostly, and it was only one bite on 4-5 different occasions. I just needed to taste something other than my shakes. Moving to purées was a real game changer! -
Quantity of Food - 4 weeks out
MrsRoboto replied to sallydswanson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 5 weeks out. At this point I'm relying on measuring my portions and timing how long I eat for. I could eat 3 bites and feel full but that's not enough food to sustain me, so I eat very slowly over 30 minutes and get my 2oz serving in. When I'm finished I don't feel stuffed or uncomfortable. Are you taking your time? -
Is that all you got? Mashed potatoes are heavy, they were probably just sitting in your sleeve like a lump. I'm assuming that's what the problem was. I'm almost 5 weeks out and on soft foods. I've eaten at Wendy's, Chipotle, and Qdoba. I eat very slowly, chew thoroughly, and stop when I think I've had 2-3oz or I feel full. I don't foresee any issues with dining out in the future. Next time try to go for Protein instead of heavy carbs. chicken or fish would have been a good choice.

Acid reflux vs pureed foods
MrsRoboto replied to hopeful_loser13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This sounds insane to me! Not to mention pretty gross. And why the heck would they suggest a bun?? I'm dying to know what other "recipes" are in your book. For purées I did stuff like greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, refried Beans, ricotta with marinara, a scrambled egg with cheese. I could only eat 2oz at a time, 4oz for the runnier stuff like yogurt. -
If your insurance requires 3 months then you'll need a final weigh-in in December. Sept, Oct, and Nov is 3 weigh-ins but it only covers 2 months of time. You don't count your initial weigh-in as one of the monthly weigh-ins. As for me, my insurance also required 3 months, my first appt was on March 10 and I was sleeved on July 27.

I'm a month out and I'm on soft foods. I don't like breakfast type foods so I've been eating stuff like meatballs, deviled eggs and string cheese, chicken.

I just got Chipotle the other night and it was awesome. No rice or tortilla, just a burrito bowl. I got 4 delicious meals out of it!

How long are you laid up and not doing day to day activities?
MrsRoboto replied to lsubabe33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on a Monday and on Wednesday I drove my 3 kids to the dentist 20 minutes away. Thursday and Friday I drove my daughter to and from camp. Saturday I went to a party for 5 hours. As long as you're not taking pain meds you should be fine to drive and get around. Just make sure to listen to your body. -
Since I've transitioned to soft foods.....
MrsRoboto replied to slsgeek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved on 7/27 and just started soft foods yesterday. 2oz is what we're supposed to be eating at a time. I eat 2oz and it takes me 30 minutes to eat. I don't feel stuffed or uncomfortable afterward, I feel satisfied. Are you chewing to mush and eating nice and slow? -
Have you added a medical bracelet to your life
MrsRoboto replied to lmm300missouri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told it wasn't necessary, which is good because I'm a "secret sleever" and didn't really need a bracelet advertising my surgery. I do have an emergency card to carry in my wallet that says I was sleeved and has a small diagram of a sleeved stomach and says to be careful with NG tubes. -
First day eating soft foods
MrsRoboto replied to soymala43's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks out today and just started soft foods. I'm so happy to be eating real food! Tonight I got a burrito bowl (no rice) from Chipotle and it was amazing. Before anyone goes thinking I'm nutso for getting Chipotle, I'll get 4 meals out of it and each serving is 125 calories, 6g of fat, 6g of carbs, and 12g of Protein. I've been pinning recipes on Pinterest for months. I'm so excited to be eating meat again! -
I only told my husband. I just kept imaging a scenario where someone would say "Wow, MrsRoboto has lost so much weight!" And then someone would respond with "Well yeah, she had surgery." And it just seemed like it would negate my success. But that's me. I think it's wonderful when people feel empowered by the their choice and share openly about it. If one of my FB friends hadn't been so open then I never even would have heard of the sleeve. So hooray for her openness!

I was told to "baby step" them in the beginning. Bring one foot up and then bring the other foot up to the same stair instead of alternating stairs like you normally would.

For those sleeved on or around 7/29/15
MrsRoboto replied to majorsmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 7/27. I've lost about 24 lbs since surgery. 23 of that was in the first 3 weeks, my scale has been going up and down 1 lb this past week. My starting weight was 301, day of surgery 276, current weight 252. -
Can I do some house cleaning?
MrsRoboto replied to ylluz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What kind of cleaning? I did light cleaning at a week out, like I used a stick-vac on my hardwoods. I'm 4 weeks out now and still haven't used a real vacuum. At a week out I could do dishes and fold laundry. Bending to pick things up wasn't going to happen. Just take it easy. Maybe do one small task and then rest. -
I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and on purées. I eat 2oz portions and it takes me about 30 minutes to eat.

how much are you eating after 1 month?
MrsRoboto replied to roxy79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At *1 month* out? Where's your protein? I'm a little over 3 weeks out, I can eat 2oz portions at a time. Today I had 2oz of salmon and two 8oz Premier Protein shakes (because I was on the run all day, otherwise I would have tried to get more real food in). Yesterday I had 2oz cottage cheese for lunch and 2oz tuna for dinner with a shake for breakfast and a smoothie for an evening snack. -

Between the oatmeal, the flatbread, and the tortilla I think it sounds like you're having a lot of carbs for one month out.
