July 27th sleevers!?!?
MrsRoboto replied to jayali's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 7/27. I'm down about 34 pounds since surgery. I had a stall that lasted a very frustrating two weeks. I'm cleared for all foods. I basically eat a lot of meat, cheese, and eggs. I get 60-80g of Protein a day with just food, no shakes. Here are some things I eat: Shrimp (chock full of protein!) 1/2-3/4 of a 4oz cheeseburger (no bun) chicken breast stuffed with broccoli and cheese or spinach and cheese Chili with cheese Baked salmon Chopped salad (chop everything up tiny so the flavors are in every bite, I use chicken, bacon, cheese, hard boiled egg, and a tiny bit of lettuce) Perdue Short Cuts Carved Grilled Chicken Breast (this is my new staple, so many options! I heat it in a pan with taco seasoning and mix in cheese, or heat and mix with ricotta and sauce and mozzarella, chop up for salad, chop up and mix with mayo for chicken salad, use to make chicken bacon ranch lettuce wraps... So many options!) Deviled eggs or fried egg with string cheese Quest Bars (I don't like them straight out of the package but heated in the microwave for 12 seconds they're delicious!) Chipotle Burrito Bowls (no rice) Trader Joe's frozen Chinese meals - Shiitake Mushroom Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and BBQ Chicken Teriyaki -

I was approved in two days.

Cigna does not require any weight loss. Hopefully your bariatric program doesn't either, but if they did I'm sure you'd already know that.

How much water can you drink?
MrsRoboto replied to aaronvt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks out and I drink 90oz a day. But I can't drink plain Water at all, I just can't stomach it. I have to use flavor drops and 30-60oz of that is Unsweetened Iced Passion Tea from Starbucks. It's an herbal tea (decaf, no sugar, no cals) so I count it towards my water intake. From what I've read there's a valve at the bottom of your stomach and when you're drinking it stays open and the liquid just passes right through. So I don't think you can drink too much and hurt yourself. If you don't feel uncomfortable you're probably fine. -
My surgeon requires 2 nights but I was a rockstar so they let me leave the following day.

I'm in! My goal weight will be 225.

Driving after surgery
MrsRoboto replied to Ilovecats1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was driving two days post-op. I wasn't on any pain meds by then. -
How often did you see surgeon pre op?
MrsRoboto replied to Leesa926's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't see mine at all until I'd completed my 3 months of weigh-ins with the nurse. Then I got to meet him for the first time and then I met him a second time a few weeks later for my pre-op appointment. That was it. -
I'm 6 weeks out and I can't drink plain Water at all. But I can drink water with flavor drops and I can drink that rather quickly. I also get 30oz unsweetened iced herbal teas and I can practically chug those. Crystal Light also goes down easily. So don't be discouraged if you have a hard time with plain water. Try adding something to it!

Before and After Pics
MrsRoboto replied to Roserie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a work in progress (6 weeks out tomorrow) but I went shopping today and was feeling pretty good. Walked in wearing saggy 24s and left with these snug 18s. -
To each their own. It seems like you might be an all or nothing type, and that's fine. But that's not me. I like to take my kids to lunch. I like Wendy's. I like Chipotle. I like KFC. They have some good low carb options with good protein. I would much rather eat some tasty food than choke down another nasty shake. I gag at the thought of shakes these days. I don't think a half a cup of Wendy's chili is going to hinder my weight loss.

How long did the fast weight loss last for you?
MrsRoboto replied to KathyRS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 14 pounds in my first week. Then it was 25 pounds total for the first three weeks. Then NOTHING for over two weeks. So yeah, don't get too comfy with the initial rapid weight loss. That first stall is brutal. -
I guess when you're cleared for all foods. For me that's at 6 weeks. But even though there are only 100 calories, how many carbs are there?

Fitbit Tracker and MyFitnessPal?
MrsRoboto replied to coltsfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't need the paid subscription. I can't remember exactly how to do it but I think you go into My Fitness Pal and click on the more tab and there's an "apps & devices" tab. Click on that and you should be able to find it from there. Hope that helps! -
Not all carbs are the devil. Chili is made up of Beans. Beans = carbs. Beans are good for you. If you're on the go and your options are limited Wendy's chili is a pretty good choice. That's actually something they drilled into our heads at my nutrition classes. It's the only fast food option they ever mentioned and they mentioned it often.

Just an FYI, *4* of the small Slim Jims make up one serving. So there is 7g of protein in 4 of the small Slim Jims, not one.
-
For me cottage cheese was considered a puree, which I couldn't have until 2 weeks out. I could have yogurt on full liquids right after surgery.
-
Those are considered purées. When are you allowed to have those? For me that was from weeks 2-4.

lucky you I am 4 weeks out and still cannot add chicken and deli meat unti the end of this month cant wait for more variety..sounds sooo good I didn't get to have any of this until 4 weeks (I'm 5 1/2 now). Weeks 2-4 were purées and there was no meat allowed. At 6 weeks I'll be cleared for all foods. I'm looking forward to trying a salad!
-
Yes, those are all soft foods. Take small bites and chew to mush. For purées I did stuff like cottage cheese, greek yogurt, refried Beans, tuna, ricotta with marinara, scrambled eggs.
-

How long did you take your pain meds?
MrsRoboto replied to mismatched's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit the pain pump like 3 times in the hospital and that's it. Brought home a prescription for painkillers but didn't use them.
