What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
MrsRoboto replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Seeing 300 on the scale. Going to a birthday party with my 7-year-old daughter for one of her friends and the activity was hiking up a moderate/difficult trail. 3 minutes in I felt like I was going to pass out but I was trying to keep on trucking like it was no big deal. The kids were all running ahead, the other moms were just walking along and chatting away, and I was just focusing on trying not to sound like I was huffing and puffing and two steps away from dying. It was the worst. -
Anyone buy Premier Protein at Sam's Club?
MrsRoboto replied to MrsRoboto's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thanks for the replies! I think I'll go check it out and probably get the Groupon membership. Right now I'm paying $8 for a 4-pack at my local grocery store because it's the only place I've been able to find them. And I so wish we had a Costco! I've heard so many great things about that store but sadly we only have Sam's and BJ's. -
Pre-Op Liquid questions
MrsRoboto replied to KM1284's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I LOVE the chocolate Premier Protein shakes. I was just hoping to find a shake I could get down without holding my nose, I didn't think I'd find one that I actually enjoy, but I think the Premier Protein is actually really good! I look forward to my morning shakes. I wish I could find the strawberry but my store only has chocolate and vanilla. -
Protein Shake...
MrsRoboto replied to heartonmysleeve82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The chocolate Premier Protein shakes are really good. The first one I tried was Pure Protein and I thought it was just okay but at least I didn't have to hold my nose to get it down. I didn't think I'd actually find one that I really enjoy and look forward to drinking but the Premier Protein is delicious and I look forward to my morning shakes. But I'm pre-op and I've heard my tastes could change after surgery. I really hope not though! -

Who do you have insurance through? Maybe someone else with the same insurance can point you in the right direction. Good luck! -
Any Maine Pre- or Post OP Sleevers?

I'm in Maine but I'm on the southern coast so I'm going to Portsmouth NH for my surgery. Where are you located? -
Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?
MrsRoboto replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to those of you with dates! So exciting!! I'm so afraid I'm going to get finished with everything and then insurance will deny me for some reason. They definitely shouldn't, it's just a fear I have. -

I have my first weigh-in on Monday. According to my scale I'm down 11 lbs since my initial weigh-in (I need to lose 16 before surgery). But of course that's without clothes and first thing in the morning, so we'll see what they say. On Wednesday I went to my first of five Behavioral Skills classes. That was interesting and I feel it will be really helpful. It's been a little over two weeks since I met with the nutritionist and I go back in 2 weeks. I already feel like I've made some big changes. I'm drinking Protein shakes for Breakfast every day (the Premiere chocolate ones are quite good), I'm eating big delicious salads for lunch every day (Bolthouse Farms Ranch Yogurt Dressing? Amazing!). Last night I made a dish with quinoa. I've never even wanted to try quinoa before! And I gave up my beloved sour cream for plain Greek yogurt! I consider myself a pretty picky eater so these are pretty big changes for me already. If this is how I feel only a few weeks into the process, I really feel like this is going to be hugely successful for me. I am feeling so excited and ready. -
Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new here, I've been lurking since January and finally got things rolling and I'm hoping for a June surgery date. I went to my seminar in February and then my initial weigh-in was March 10. I was told I need to lose 10% of my excess body weight, which is 16 pounds. I haven't put too much effort in yet but I have managed to lose 7 lbs so far. Today was Day 1 of really buckling down though. I met with the NUT last week and she put me on a high protein 1500 calorie diet. I've also seen the PT and had my psych eval. I have to do a 5-week psych group session and go to at least 1 additional pre-op group. And then of course I have my 3 monthly weigh-ins. I have to go back to see the NUT and the PT and I think that's it! I am so looking forward to my new life. I'm 36 and a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids. I am just so lackluster all the time and I can't wait to feel more energized and be more comfortable in my body. I want to enjoy life with my family! -
I'm on track to be sleeved in June and my Bariatric center has me on a high protein 1500 calorie diet. That is my pre-op diet. They said there's no need for the extreme liquid diet and everyone does it differently. I'm glad, I was not looking forward to that!

I'm in NH, getting sleeved at Portsmouth Hospital.

1500 cal diet pre surgery
MrsRoboto replied to mandyq1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also supposed to be on a 1500 calorie diet but I haven't started yet. I need to go on a major grocery shopping trip tomorrow. My NUT told me to do 350 calories for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then two 200 calorie snacks. At least one meal is to be replaced by a protein shake and fruit. My surgery isn't until at least mid-June, so I'm in it for the long haul. -
York, Maine.

I've decided I'm ready for the gastric sleeve. I have no idea where to go from here. Do I make an appointment with my regular doctor? Do I research surgeons and just schedule a consult? Does it really take 6 months to get a surgery date? I think those are my questions for now. Thanks!

How do I get the ball rolling?
MrsRoboto replied to MrsRoboto's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your replies. I looked into my insurance online and it appears that it does cover bariatric surgeries. Then I found a Bariatric Information Seminar coming up on Feb 12 at a local hospital. It said the seminar is mandatory if you're going to have the surgery, so I'm definitely going to that one (it looks like they offer it monthly). The more I read, the more excited I get. I'm tired of being trapped in this body.
