Has The Sleeve Helped Your Ibs?
WillyBoo replied to AngieG0410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 4/16/2015. My IBS (loose) has never been so severe as it is since pre-op. I have been ill since April 6th. Am following a FODmaps diet with some improvement but still not resolved. -
I have had it and it is yummy! I would not be allowed to have it though because of the high carbs and sodium and lack of Protein. I will miss Panera soups!

Pre Op Diet Loose Stools
WillyBoo replied to bschearer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. Liquid in- liquid out. -
I am on day five of liquids. I really have not been hungry too much. The second I feel a twinge I drink something. Water, broth, crystal light, coffee, vitaman water zero, anything clear. The surgeons plan says "up to 6 shakes per day" but I have been getting by on 5 which I drink about 3 hours apart with coconut/almond milk. I also make each one a little bit different. The only issue I have had is a bit of a tummy ache and frequent bathroom trips (liquid in - liquid out!). It isn't fun by any means but it is doable.

Does everyone develop loose skin?
WillyBoo replied to jadama22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on genetics and age and how much you lose. I am assuming i will have a good amount of loose skin. I figure since it will be hidden under clothing i can live with it. Kinda hard to cover up being 100+ pounds overweight. -
HOW LONG OFF OF WORK?
WillyBoo replied to heartonmysleeve82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking two and half weeks but can/will take more if I need to (self-employed). My doctor will not excuse for more than 4 weeks unless there are major complications. -
A single doughnut almost broke me
WillyBoo replied to snickysnack78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cut yourself a break! Tomorrow is a new day. The next time you feel temptation, you will remember how you feel right now and hopefully you will not give in to the junk. -
I have the same issue. I use unjury (which i got from the unjury website) and syntrax nectar in tbe unflavorex and vanilla torte. No prolem with those at all.

Is occasional Nsaids okay post-op?
WillyBoo replied to Hugs :)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told occasional nsaids were ok after three months out. -
April 16th!

Mine is coming out during my sleeve surgery. My insurance allows it so out it comes! I don't want another surgery looming over my head.

My answer is similar to AmyfromCincy. It was in my chart but I don't think it was listed on the insurance companies criteria.

Thick saliva and sweet taste in mouth
WillyBoo replied to TammyDTM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had the same sweet taste pre-op but I am not diabetic. I have assumed it was ketosis. If it is really concerning, check with your doctor and make sure everything is ok. -
Call! Mine took about a week and a half. I called to to check on it and found out it had just been approved. That was nearly two weeks ago and I still don't have anything in writing from BCBS. The doctors office did follow up with a call and got the info they needed though.

Cycling verses walking
WillyBoo replied to Lifeafter40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question. I have been wondering the same thing. -
Wow. These are fast turn around times. I had my info class in October but had to wait until Jan 2 for my first round of appts (new insurance). It took two months to get through all the testing and appts and three weeks of compliance with my new a-pap. Two more weeks for approval with insurance. Next week I have three more appts and will be picking the surgery date at that time. Lastly I have a pre/post dietitian education on the 30th of this month and hoping to be sleeved mid April. At times I have wished that time would pass faster. In the end though, I am actually glad I have had the time to process the life changes that I need to make. I have used this time to ease into some of the them ahead of surgery.

The Waiting is driving me CRAZY!

Sounds like we might be following the same timeline. I am hoping for a early-mid April date. How about you? -
What are these apps? This sounds like a great idea!

The Waiting is driving me CRAZY!
WillyBoo replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long have you been waiting? Have you thought about calling? I waited ten days without word and i just couldnt sit thru another weekend of not knowing. Friday late afternoon i called BCBS and found out it had just been approved. My doctor doesnt even know yet. I wont get my date until my surgeon consult. Now i wait for the office to call and set that appt. At least i know its approved. -
Can't hurt to call. I have been waiting for what feels like forever for an answer (Real-time is about 10 days.). I finally called BCBS late in the day yesterday. It had just been approved. The letter to my doctor had not even been generated yet. I still don't have my date but at least I know it was approved. I am so glad I called. I really didn't want to sit through another weekend worrying.

Waiting for surgery date...
WillyBoo replied to vixie1013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must be relieved to be able to plan ahead. I called the insurance company this afternoon and found out that i was approved but the doctors office doesnt even know yet. Now have to wait for them to call me and schedule an appt with the surgeon. That appt is when i will get my date. Am hoping for mid april. -
I was pressured by my internist for years to get a sleep study done. I just didn't see the value of it since I didn't have sleep troubles. My surgeon requires it so I could no longer put it off. I did have sleep apnea big time. I have had a my a-pap for about 4 weeks now. I have worn it religiously every night for at least 7 hours. The first 10 days or so, were rough. I just couldn't make it comfortable and got a nasty sore on my face too. I didn't give up tho, and now it is fine. I honestly don't feel any different in the mornings but I am glad that it is better for my health to use it.
