  1. Yep me too. I am one week out-had horrible numbness in right leg around the knee which made walking wobbly-that has gotten a lot better. Also numbness in my left buttock-which is still there. This makes sitting or laying in one position for too long very uncomfortable. Surgeon and nurses didn't think it was a big deal, or at least they down played and and almost acted like it was very rare...!
  2. It will go away! I am one week out today and gas pains are gone, but man were they awful! When I got home I used a heating pad on my back and it took some of the gas pain away so I could sleep!
  3. Had surgery yesterday! Went well and I am doing good. Have had some pain but have been proactive in asking for pain medicine. They have been having me swallow pills which scares me but it has been fine. Very happy with this decision so far and happy to be on this side of my story!

    Day two

Hi TLW, till now I haven't felt like being on the net! I was in the hospital 4 days/3 nights due to nausea and loose stool (they thought was C Diff, thank god it was not) and I also had a blown IV due to a bolus blowing in my hand on day 2-ugh, painful and swollen. Then my leg was numb and a little swollen and they did a ultrasound to check for clots-none! These first few days have not been like I expected-but not that bad. I am still feeling what I hope is gas pain on my left side near stomach and am running a low grade fever, again ugh! Hoping they are both nothing! Hard to get all fluids, but I think today I might make the goal. I tried a Protein shake yesterday (atkins) and it upset my stomach, so not sure I will use that one again. I tried a different one today (unjury) and it did not upset my stomach but the taste is something to be desired!!! I am going to do the unjury chicken Soup this evening and see how that goes. I certainly hope you are having an easier time than me! How was today?

Yes, Carol thank goodness. And after reading it I was obviously a little out of it writing that post! Still in hospital, boo. Been very nauseous and in the bathroom a lot. Hoping to go home tomorrow! Incision pain is worst right at the belly button!

    Day two

Tlw- surgery twin-I am doing well. Had rny also! I will be staying tonight too, which is ok by me! They actually made me take regular pills right away. I was really scared but it was fine, All kinds! Did get liquid pain med too- toradol also have had Tylenol. Worst part so far is the uncomfortable bed, I just can't lay how I need to and not feel completely uncomfortable-hurts my back and back side!!!! Gas pain too but that goes away. What meds did dr give or is going to give you to take home?
  9. Yay tlw! Keep up the momentum-I will too!
  10. Nervous and excited, surgery scheduled for 7:45am tomorrow, I will be in the car at 4am to get there for admission...in 7 hours! Thankful for the wealth of information and support I have found on these boards!!!
  11. I am resting in my room. Had a fever last night and this morning before I left but when I got here it was gone don't feel 100% in terms of that. Surgery wise doing ok have some pain but it is manageable. Got up walked and peed so far. Happy to be past this hurdle it feels good!
  12. I am tomorrow too! Good luck TLW!
  13. I had my first visit with surgeon the last week of January and my surgery is tomorrow. The surgeon's office made all the appointments and contacts for my other drs and my insurance company. No insurance mandated diet, just the surgeon's three day clear liquid preop diet.
  14. I don't have the "poop" (happy about that) medicine either! I guess all surgeons have different plans!!!
  15. Good luck dolphin_girl! Look forward to following your post-posts!!! I am this Thursday!
  16. Definitely feeling anxious, just want to be on the other side already! Good luck this week to all of us!
  17. Hello, I am schedule for RNY this Thursday May 28. At this point I am more nervous about vomiting after the operation from the anesthesia than the pain. I get severely motion sick and feel that this might up my chances for feeling sick from anesthesia. I know this can be more dangerous after bariactric surgery. Anyone feel this way or have an insight to add? I am going to talk to the anesthesiologist about it, but don't know if that will help. Sometimes anti-nausea meds don't work on me!
  18. vgomez-We will be in the same boat at the same time!
  19. I was nervous too. Worst part was the IV-the nurse had trouble getting it in and I was bruised for a week afterward. They give you an IV, wheel you to the room for the procedure, tell you what they will do, spray your throat with some numbing med, put a teeth guard in your mouth so you won't bite down, then give you propofol in your IV and you are out in a few seconds waking up in recovery. No throat pain, but I was extremely tired and had a low grade fever for a day. It was a pretty easy process!
  20. I am May 28th, have to be there at 5:30am!! Love some buddies!

    Pre-Op Tests

I did not have the same health issues as you, but I had to have an endoscopy. Which was super easy, worst part was the IV!
