I'm 34 years old and have had weight problems on and off my entire life. I found out in January of last year that my insurance would pay For my surgery so I got the ball rolling. After months of weight loss counseling, required by my insurance, I was sleeved on December 30, 2014. The first week was rough. My surgery was on a Tuesday, I was discharged on Wednesday, and my dad passed away on that Friday. That first week and a half my stomach was so swollen, it looked like I was 5 months pregnant. I also had a lot of pain and discomfort, but that may have been because I was overdoing it, which I had to with everything going on with my dad. It was an emotional time for me. I've always found comfort in food and now, during the most emotional time in my life, the passing of my dad, I couldn't rely on food as my comfort. I am now around 5 weeks out and down 19 lbs and feeling great. I would like to see a big weight loss like some of the other stories but as long as the scales are moving down I'm happy.
