Hi all just a quick pass-through. Went to my PCP today, all tests are MUCH better than pre-surgery. Still need some time before I'm off all meds, but way better than just 2 months ago! Have lost 45 pounds since I last saw her for the pre-surgery visit :bored:. Julie-how awful for you! I'm so sorry your miserable, hope you get relief soonest. Peas-hope your Dad is doing better. How hard all this must be on both your folks. Hugs to all, talk to you soon.
-
Hope I got myself signed up correctly :bored:. Look forward to this, my first challenge :smile2:.

I'm type 2, have gone from glip/metformin 2 2xday to 1 2xday, still getting morning readings in the low 120's but after meals are in the mid 80's, so I'm guessing I'll be med free before too long.
-
Phyl-keep in mind, after you PT you may be darn glad you have your scooter! Also no reason to over stress the new knee. Indio-look at you  all virtous getting to the gym so early lol, good for you! So far I've avoided Mexican food since it's such a favorite. I watch Rick Bayless 'Mexico One Plate at a Time' on PBS, for some reason watching cooking shows helps me be 'good'. Cherie-So sorry your dealing with a down time. I've just reached the point I can stand to 'peek' at my body after a shower....not a great sight rofl, but certainly the feeling better is worth the not looking so great. Peas-sorry about your 'girly' trouble, hope you and your Dr can find the solution that makes you feel like a millon soon. MEN!:smile2: Was watching a McD commercial last night and made the comment 'i WANT a cheeseburger'. All I really needed to hear was 'yeah they do look good on TV'. Instead got this whole 'well make a chicken burger, or get low fat burger and grill your own, eat it without the bun'. NO S*IT Shirlock, as if that hasn't been part of my life off and on for the last FORTY years....sheesh. Sorry about the rant but honestly! Next time I'll just come here to mention that something looked/sounded good. Hope everyone has a bright and happy day, mine started better with the scale headed in the right direction and a nice workout at the gym .

Sweetheart you have to do what's right for you. I'm so very sorry your experience has been so cr*ppy. I do hope you feel like a million bucks before the end of the month, and I'm really impressed with how well you've done so far. -
As long as it's working for you, your still losing, and your not starving 2 hours after lunch, then you should be good to go. If any of those things change, then it'll be time to rethink your lunch choice.
-
IYSOY-I'm so sorry about the work worries! For my DH it's worries about budget restraints and layoffs. I hope everything works out for you and your DH. Hugs Meredith-whew! Your schedule is amazing. Cute tortise. We used to have a gopher tortise years ago, named Hoover, used to come to be scratched under the chin. Indio-woohoo on your weekend! Sounds like it was fun even if you did have to 'pay' for the experience I too vary my calorie counts daily, I think it helps. Eva-awww babies! Have fun at the quilting show! Mrs B-wow busy day's for you! Sorry about the truck issues. Hope Mimi is feeling much better today. Sounds like a fun reunion for you guys, you did great. Peas-good for you on the trainer. Sorry about the PB at dinner Laura-so easy for the hand to reach for old comfort. Good for you to throw em out. Also never hurts to find out some things just aren't as good as they once were. Bradley18-are you journeling your food and keeping up with your water? Your so close to goal your probably at the 'earn it by inches' phase. 1day at a time-wow sorry about the pill episode! sure hope your feeling better today. Off to the gym for me, have a great day all.

Must everything be sugar free??
gitrdone replied to abercchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What they all said :tongue2:. It's choices, I CHOOSE to not eat high calorie/low nutrition foods. But when I choose to have something sweet, I want the 'REAL' thing. It's choosing the 'right' things 90 percent of the time, and being honest with yourself. The band is a great tool, but reality still is calories in/calories out wins the battle. My question to myself always is....is the taste of <fill in any food choice here> worth the work it'll take on my part at the gym to negate the calories involved? Usually these days the answer is 'no', before the band it was 'gym, what's a gym' ROFL. -
1st fill of 4 CC and kinda scared
gitrdone replied to greeks16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my first fill yesterday, it was easy peasy! Dr had me lie down with a pillow under my lower back, needle went right in. Then had me stand and drink water, was too full at first and had to have over 2cc taken out. Good experience though, now I know what too tight means, and what the foamy's are [on just water no less]. Overall a very good experience! -
Wow, take a couple days off....5 pages to catch up on! Charlene-ss about your getting stuck...I find I have to make sure chicken breast is moist to eat. Have gone back to brining all chicken before cooking it. Julie-glad Mimi is doing better. Sure hope your shoulder start improving soonest. Have my fingers and various other appendages crossed that you DD gets the job. Cheri-you sound like me...if I have to go out to get something..I won't :cursing: Janet-Wow! Good for you with all those pictures. Thanks for the info, good stuff for our new members, and for us too! Meredith-shake it off kiddo! Each day is a new start. Your schedule exausts me just reading it! I admire you so. Apples-Sorry for you and your DS' all having kidney stones! I have had a few and know how much it hurts. For me switching to bottled water 'fixed' things. Doesn't sound like that would work for you guys  Peas-sorry Nelson had a rough day, was very glad to hear the next one was much better. Ahhh the life lessons we learn on the playground . Biggest mistake school systems ever did was to drop recess! Grats on the trainer, you go girl. I just got my first fill yesterday. WOW is all I can say...Dr was very proud of me though, I'd lost 15 pds since I'd seen her for after surgery visit [and I thought I was doing poorly]. She overfilled me at first, golly pete, foamy's with just water! What a great experience though, I now KNOW what many previous posters have been talking about. Head hunger issues.....still have em think they're pretty permanant. Sometimes I feel SO schizophrenic, can be full and perfectly comfortable and still think <fill in the food> in the fridge NEEDS to be eaten . Ah well, at least when I argue with myself it gives me someone to talk to :waytogo:.

I personally like the EAS Advantedge. Only 17g of protein but also only 110 cal. and 0 sugar. I like the chocolate very much. You'll have to try different ones til you find what you like...lord knows there's a TON of em :-).
-
Lisa, FWIW my water bottle has become an extention of my arm :-P. I keep a water bottle by my bed, by my computer, and one filled to grab on the way to the gym. To some extent I treat water as 'medicine' and PLAN times to 'take' it. First thing in the morning I drink at least 16 ounces with my suppliments, I drink at least 24 oz at the gym, and I drink at least 24 oz at night watching TV, or reading, or whatever. Right there I've had my gallon, and on top of that I may have a few glasses during the day. It's just a matter of making it a habit.
-
Amanda, your doing great for 4 weeks, your body is STILL healing, let it. As far as the hungry part, are you eating protein first? Drinking all your water every day? This is a great time to start using what you've learned about lap-band eating, but don't beat yourself up. Keep to your portion control, add or keep to your exercise routine and the weight WILL melt away.....be kind to yourself. Don't let 'other' people regulate how you feel about yourself, this is YOUR journey NOT theirs. You will succeed! I used to spend some summers in Carlisle when I was young, had family with a dairy farm outside of town :-).
-
Wow ljv....just WOW! Your GD is beyond cute! Apples-sorry but LOL about your hub! Sorry he hurt himself but what a typical MAN . I remember summer on family farms, work never stops. Too bad he got in such a hurry with his buttons, you both could have taken a morning 'break' :tt1: Hope your "Mom" does really well! Meredith-you and Andrew are a BEAUTIFUL couple! Cheri-OMG I am SO happy for you! Way to go . mrose-gosh! I'm so sorry about your Mom and MIL. Wishing strength and peace for you all. You look amazing in your photo, your hub looks SO proud! Janet-what can I say....YOU ROCK! Great-good for you getting your knee done...You'll be glad you did! Phyl-we've not 'met' yet but glad to see you back and doing better. Everything I hear about joint replacement is it's SO worth it! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Getting Exercise after lapband
gitrdone replied to lapband 8-26-09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's best to ask your Dr when and how much on exercise, though walking you could start anytime. My Dr released me back to the gym a week after surgery, but I had to avoid ab exercises until 6 weeks post-op. Great job on your weight loss, but remember, this time is for healing....don't let the scale rule you. I got 'stuck' for over a week at the same weight, but my body was changing during this time. Relax, take a deep breath, and follow your Dr's directions . -
ONE-DER LAND!!!!!! I made it!!!!!
gitrdone replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wtbt, amy, and JUKU-CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! How exciting that's got to be  -
Meredith-Happy Happy B-day! Hope you and Andrew have a great time this weekend. Linda-sounds like a bright colorful sendoff for your friend, nice. I really like a funeral that is a celebration of life, rather than a dwelling in death. Sharon-nice to be on vacation, but from the sound of it you'll have to go back to work for some rest :-P. Good for you about the shift change. SS about the family issues. I admire your work ethic! Glad your shingles are getting better. Great-sounds like a nice drive! Hope your Grand-ma enjoys her day out. I remember Loveland pass from when I was a kid [my Dad grew up in Grand Junction area], we used to stop at the top of the pass in summer and change into long pants and sweaters to play in the snow. Indio-how frustrating about the appt., but at least you got your laundry done. Hope the concert was fun. IYSOY-the party sounds like fun, glad you found some things you can incorporate into your food plan. Lucky you on your cool day, it's still in the 90's here and will be for a couple months yet. Wow Mrs. B-Christmas shopping already! Good for you that you found some bargains. Now that I'm down to Bro/SIL, son, and hub I don't really have to Christmas shop anymore. Larry-lap-band life is one day at a time. Start each day fresh and you'll get the hang of it! Gators in the resevoir are really no big deal, they are more afraid of me than I of them. As long as I'm in my boat I'm not concerned. Now saltwater, I'm not a fan of saltwater...I don't like swimming anywhere I can't see 'who' I'm swimming with! My hub and I hope to RV full-time when he retires. I look forward to catching any states I might be missing at that time. Was blessed as a kid, my Mom owned her own business and my Dad was a teacher, so the day he finished school we'd travel until he had to go back again. Or Mom and Dad would ship me off to one of her sister's in PA, and I'd either spend the summer with horses, or dairy cows lol. Either way, it was a win-win for me.

EbonyRose-here's to your continued success! Enjoy the journey. BillOh-Wow 24:09?? Your a machine lol. Grats to you and your wife both. You guys are so lucky to have found a way to improve your health and lives together! -
Linda-SS about your friend...peace to you all. Meredith-you seem to have a great head on your shoulders...I'd like to be you when I grow up :w00t:. Mrs B-I just KNOW you'll feel more yourself after the shot. BTW what happened to taking it easy? :w00t: Great-Good for you! Exercise is an awesome stress reliever. Laura-grats on the hair...makes you feel like a new woman doesn't it? Careful with Nelson and the kayaking...it's addictive! :w00t: I had a great day myself, six weeks post-op and back in MY kayak for the first time this morning! I've really missed my boat, morning was hot but beautiful. Lot's of turtles making little turtles in the resevoir, got to see one of the alligators [my 14 foot kayak is still the biggest 'gator' in the lake thank goodness]. My son went with me in his kayak, I did two rounds of the resevoir to his 'Whew, you've turned into the Mominator' one lap :w00t: Been stuck for over a week at the same weight, was just to a support meeting on Wednesday night and mentioned it...then got up Thurday morning and was down FOUR pounds...and they were still gone this morning lol. Have a great weekend all, ttyl

I'm just guessing that perhaps it's your loose skin that's moving rather than you port? I know my Dr explained to me that it seems the port moves because the skin slids over it. Also the pain you felt could well be because you overate a bit. If I do that I get port pain.

Was just on the 'Livestrong' site and saw an add for this plate. I would think it is probably easier to use than the other 'portion' plates I've seen. Have no connection with this company, just thought some folks may find it of value. EZ Weight Plate, Portion Control plate, weight loss, food measurement, diabetic plate

Are you working out? Or...?
gitrdone replied to 99ways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started working out one week after banding. I tend to be OCD so am up to at least an hour a day 6 days a week. Even with all that I had been 'stuck' for a week at the same weight, but this morning the scale was down FOUR pounds :w00t:. My body has lost a bunch of inches in just the 5 weeks I've been working out. At least 4 in the stomach and 2 in the chest. Plus by now, after being a WoW potato for the last 4 years I'm guessing I'm putting on some muscle :blushing:. -
Apples-great on the new hair and sexy outfit! Your menu for last night sounds awesome! LOL Mrs B-your 3 'ewws' are 3 of my favorites. If I knew I were to die tomorrow, I'd eat a whole German Chocolate Cake today :blushing:. Larry-WOOHOO for you. You'll be on the banded journey before you know it! IYSOY-Grats on the fill working! Your resend on your blog worked fine, thanks so much. Peas-Super about your Dad! Glad Nelson's first day went well. With those two burdens off your shoulders will be much easier for you to take care of YOU again. Hmmm, a little about me eh?-I'm 54 years young, live in Tampa Bay area of FL, have 2 boys, one 17 almost 18, the other 57 almost 58 :w00t:. I've not worked for about 7 years now, used to work with speech-delayed pre-k kids. I have 5 Border Terriers and used to show. Before that I had a Walking Horse and was heavily into showing her also. I have been 'heavy' most of my life [can't believe I weighed 150 when I got married and people were always telling me I was FAT...now that's my goal weight!]. My hub is also very reclusive and I just found it easier to live like that too. Four years ago I discovered the online game 'World of Warcraft' and became addicted. It seems the only way to have 'friends' for me is through my computer, but at least here I'm forming supportive, possitive relationships. You guys ROCK.

EbonyRose, you GO girl! That's awesome....maybe dog will have to settle for your cooldown walk. That's great that your on track for your 5K, keep up the great work! -
Hit 'Home' at the top of the page, then just go down the list of forums until you see the nutrition one....I'm sure there's an easier way, but that's how I do it .
