My AA sisters, how is everyone doing with protein, vitamins and hair? I'm 13 days post sleeve and FINALLY was able to wash my hair. I had wanted to do it before but it was too much. I'm natural with hair past my shoulders. After careful washing, conditioning, two hours gentle combing and putting my head into two-strand twists, there was a large enough hair ball for a couple of babies. My hair is my crowning glory, and it is thick, that is texture and amount. I had believed it would be okay if it thinned a little bit, but from what I have read, most have lost hair in patches. Now I am a little scared. Thoughts? -
Wow, not judging on the coffee. My granddaughter now age two has to have a cup of tea every night before bed. Not that decaf crap, real tea with cream. It's thanks to her great-grandmother who started me in womb needing tea and passing it on. We do have it that she not allowed to have sugar in it...that is unless her "Nanie" makes it...driving my daughter and myself crazy. I'm 13 days post op and have only had 1-2 cups of hot tea with stevia and whole milk, it's an adjustment. Couple sips of coffee didn't bother me...here's hoping????????????

Omg-thank you for this post. I was sleeved 2/26 and was allowed soft eggs four days ago. I haven't tried them yet. SCARED...I have had yogurt and pudding and mashed potatoes. Who would've thought it would take 20+ minutes to eat less than half a cup? I'm thinking of having a soft scrambled egg tomorrow made with a bit of Siddi yogurt (23 grams of Protein in 1cup, no fat). Oh how yummy.

@@cloud9 and @ninnifer44. I too was wondering about working out. I did a bit too much walking, wandering around Wallyworld on Sunday, and this past weekend carried stuff that was probably over ten pounds. Because of course I brought all my water, jello and protein drinks for the ENTIRE DAY in my bag. I will have my elliptical brought back in the house the end of the month. April is fast approaching and I need to get in walking shape for China... -
So excited...only 9 hours until I get sleeved!

@Laydee_G. Thank you! 11 days post op, as of a couple days a go I'm 198 which is 13 pounds down. I feel good, tired in really weird ways. I'm already down a couple sizes! Belly is still swolen, and I overdid it yesterday so I am in a bit of pain. Listen to your body, listen to your body. Telling myself this. I looked in the mirror today and noticed that my old lady jowls are gone. I actually have a jawline, happy happy happy. -

I'm too excited. The few friends I told are as excited for me as I am. Met for the post-op diet question and answer period this afternoon. Learned a few new new things, cemented a lot of what I researched and found answers here. I gave the dietician this app/website so that she can tell the support groups. I'm really happy to have found such a fabulous community. Onward, upward...excelsior! Going to bed shortly, hope I can sleep ???????????? -

@@ninnifer44 Congrats???????????????????? I am 11 days post op, was sleeved 2/26 and am 198. It's been a long time for me too. In 2011, I lost weight and stayed under 200 for all of 3 months. Before that was almost 10 years. I am sooooo happy I did this for myself. Today I looked in the bathroom mirror and realized my "old lady jowls" are gone! My clothing size has dropped faster than my weight ????, but because I have a robust belly (still swollen) I still need the larger waist. I cannot stand or or walk for very long at a time, but I am getting out and doing a bit more each day. It still was the best decision I ever made. HW 232 SW 211 CW 198 GW 148 (mine, doc never gave me one) High blood pressure, sleep apnea, high fasting glucose, GERD-hoping to be off these meds and healthy soon! -

It's going on 5 years for me since being in a relationship. After the last one ended I threw myself into college and then came grandchildren. Finished my degree in December and no longer babysitting the two-year old. Had my sleeve done on February 26th, so I'm five days out. Feeling pretty good. I am excited to go out this summer, be active and start dating again. This cold MA weather is not conducive to doing too much. In my mind...scary place...I'd like to go sledding or cross country skiing. I know that is a ways off. I feel like I could do anything when I wake up, it's after I get out of bed and feel/see my battered and bruised body I know that that's not true. I will get there, I am in a much better place now to date. I'm looking forward to it -

Congrats on March 12, cloud 9. I was sleeved on Thursday, February 26th, in the morning. I knew not much of what happened that day. Used a bedpan in recovery and faded back to lala-land. Found out that I had a hernia that was repaired. Had no energy to even talk. Nice quiet room in the back of the ward until 2a when I was woken up because they needed to put someone with horrible infection away from people. I walked for about 30 minutes total and got comfy in my new room. Pain with meds was not bad, but as someone else here stated, the headache and the neck pain were a total drag. I was released around 3pm on Friday. I was actually glad to go home, my new room was across from the nurses station, too dang loud. Once home, I sacked out on the couch tried to sip sip sip and didn't get much in. Day 3 was better and I am a bit sore today but can definitely drink a couple ounces at a time. I do look like I was beat up, lovenox of shots. I did not have any drains or catheters left in after surgery. Day 4 and I'm definitely happy that I did this. Down 7 pounds already! -

@@Inner Surfer Girl, THATS where I bought my swim bra from -Woman Within! Love it, holds the girls up, and can wear it under any suit I have.

I bought a great two piece and one piece swimsuit at Forever 21(plus), then picked up a swimsuit bra to go under the top. The nice is that they are cheap, cute and actually fit very well.I received so many compliments wearing the "bikini", I'm going to need new ones this year as I am getting sleeved next week. Looking forward to smaller cute summer clothes. Btw-I'm 50 and rocked that size 2x bikini!

Me too @@WendieBryant! Mine is next next Thursday. The pre-op diet sucks! The good thing is that I had decided to give up sugar and junk for lent anyhow. No more people bugging me to eat stuff We'll do great! We put in the time, effort and did our homework. I'm more excited now than anything else...countdown.

What to expect from gastro consult?
FinallyFit50s replied to gofigure's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the last six months, I have done, so far: 7 meetings with NUT, 4 meetings with surgeon, 5 Bariatric group meetings, physical, sleep test, full blood work-up, and an endoscopy this past Friday. Through going through all this, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, high fasting blood glucose, Vitamin D deficiency, and bacteria in my gut that would leave me prone to ulcers. Friday night that I was approved for VSG and my surgery date is February 26th, with pre-op on the 18th. I was annoyed with some aspects of process and felt that it was one step forward and two back at times. However, I am now even more confident that I made the right decision to go forth with this. I had considered myself fairly healthy, and found out-not so much. It is a blessing that I found out these things now, when I can reverse them, then to have waited longer. -
Hey, what are you most looking forward to? (Other than being post-op...)
FinallyFit50s replied to JordanB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm being sleeved February 26th. I'm looking forward to: Going to China with my sister and mother at the end of April-being able to walk up and down the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and everywhere else for 15 glorious days. To fit into a pair of jeans that I saved from the last time I was 148 pounds-they are this white wash denim, and back in style-by the end of the year. Lmao! To wear a fabulous white Cache dress that I already bought for my Seven Sisters college graduations laurel parade in May. To get back out and date after 5 years of self-imposed exile. To FINALLY not be the "fat" one in my family. There are sooooo many more things I'm looking forward to. I have "let go" of so much baggage since beginning this journey. I look forward to continuing on this path as me, just a thinner version. -
I finally have my date-February 26th, pre-op the 18th. I started the pre-op diet this past Monday. I'm so excited! I have clothes in sizes 12-20w and look forward to "shopping" in my very vast closets (multiple places and styles-attic, cedar closet, spare room). Thanks to previous posters for letting me know about the tastebuds changing, I'm on an iPad and I can't see previous posts as I type this. Tried to remember : @@LENCHEN I forgot about PB2, I bought some and forgot about it. @@butterfly125 I've read so many times that the walking helps with the gas.

What is Your Goal Weight at 5'5
FinallyFit50s replied to sukik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@UK Cathy, thanks for the chart. I'm 50 years old and 5'5". My surgeon hasn't given me a goal, but I have a personal goal for 30+ years of weighing 148. It's the weight I was able to get down to once in my late teens and for a very short time when I was 24 (was working out like a fiend for work). My surgery is set for February 26th and I'm excited to keep losing weight. -
I'm so excited, my surgery is scheduled for February 26th. Now that I have my date, the pre-op diet is not bothering me as much. I wish I could say I following it 100%, but I'm not. I am very aware of keeping up my protein, water and lowering fat and carbs.
