How many more fills until I feel the fullness again
Lana24 replied to Allformyson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI: I had 9 fills before I felt any significant restriction. I thought I was failing since I wasn't losing any weight. But now I feel it and should be able to lose adequately. Good luck to all and welcome to lapband! -
Depressed! Only lost 8 lbs so far
Lana24 replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I say don't worry so much. I know it is so hard in the beginning I have been there. I still hate to weigh so I have to rely on the "facts" of the situation. Am I eating right? Am I exercising? Am I following doctors orders. All that and I still "weigh" heavy but I seriously look like I have lost about 50 pounds. So I say don't rely on the scale, we all know it lies anyway! -

Why doesn't being "skinny" fix it all?
Lana24 replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Melody, I know what you mean. I am not near goal but I wull be very, very soon...But since the very beginning of this journey I wondered, "What happens next?" I asked myself this question for at least the first six months and now I have answers. I plan to keep on living, keep on smiling, Keep on loving... this journey will be as easy or as difficult as I make it. No one else gets to decide but me. My advice: Find something you love (other than food) and enjoy and then... keep on! -

Great job!! -
Ky, Wow hope you ok< please keep us informed!

Yes, I do that because if I don't I'll eat too much, get uncomfortable and then I hate eating! So I use a small 1 cup size containers to carry my lunch and it works for me. After 7 fills it is just enough to satify without making me feel sick. Meal planning is a big part of success.

It gets better, it took me 7 fills before I felt ANY restriction...I am almost at my sweet spot! So don't worry everyone reacts differently to the band.
-
Sounds like you need a fill to me.

Great reply Irene!

Can you see this? Are there instructions for posting pics? progresspic.pdf 9months.bmp -
Hi livinghealthy72, Sounds like you need a fill, I felt that way in the beginning...but now I can eat breakfast and be satisfied most if not all day.

Thank you as well this forum works the best when people co operate and show each other some human kindness! I know the frustrating part of this is just when the loss is sooo slow... it took me 8 months to lose 18 pounds but I did it and I am keeping it off. Now that I have enough fill it should be smoother now. I wish you the very best and I recommend searching this site. There is a thread for every question ever asked about the band! Best wishes Lana

Do you *REALLY* want to know what the band is like????
Lana24 replied to Weas123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well said and good for you! -
Don't worry it does take a while, but it usually comes... Good luck Lana

Hi Hopeful, The answer is yes I did have a slow start, but technically your band does not "work" yet. Although you were eating less in the beginning, the return of hunger and being able to eat more are a sign of healing. The band is affixed losely at first...then as you heal you get "fills" or adjustments to help with the weight loss. I was frustrated the first 5-7 months as to why, why am I not lossing like other people. WEll the answer is some people do not need as many adjustments...sometimes a person can be fitted with the band and that's it. But many other like myself need a few fills to get to the right spot. Don't worry you'll do just fine....take a deep breath and remind yourself tat you need to heal and then get adjusted.... Best Wishes Lana

Pre-surgery, need support
Lana24 replied to workingsahm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi workingsahm, Welcome to lapband talk, this is a wonderful forum. I came here back in 07 when I was thinking about having the surgery, reading and talking to other people just made me more determined to have it done. I wish you nothing but the very best in your care, decision and the future. You can send me a private message anytime you like and I will be more than happy to answer your questions. -
I posted a while back but since my surgery something has become very clear to me. No more excuses, I am fat because I eat too much. I am fat because I make myself fat... using food as a comfort for being alone, using food as fuel when I am sick, using food because sometimes its the only "extra" I can afford. I can undo what I have done and I will... I used to blame an unhappy childhood, feeling completely unloved. Now I realize my parents are idiots and life can be good.

Hi Hope, No regrets here, in the beginning I was worried because I was not losing much weight. But I was patient and got the appropriate fills, now I am happy... just wish I had done it sooner!
