Any North Atlantan here? interested to start a group?
Dimka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I would love to start a group where we can hangout when possible, I did not tell anyone at work about my surgery (don't plan to that any time soon) and my family lives abroad. I live north Atlanta and would like to make new friends who I share with the same experience. -
Letting go of my armour
Dimka replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a long diet in 2007-2008 and i lost over 80 pounds, i cleaned my closet then and i swore to myself not to gain weight again but i did! I gained 110 pounds. Am now only 20 days post op but i don't want to think about cleaning my closet because am terrified of letting myself down again! -
I Finally Did it (7 Days Post Op) (Questions!)
Dimka replied to Mousa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not use Protein powder at all, it's only 10 days till you can have dairy products and your body can handle it. my doctor said I can exercise as much as I can do but do not pull or lift any weights until after 6 weeks. watch out from dehydration, keep sipping Water all the time. -
Ready to Stop Crushing

I took pills the day i left the hospital. My doctor prescribed Nexium for the first 3 months after surgery. -
I had this surgery so I can eat what I want in moderation. If Any of us could deprive ourselves from everything we like and stick to healthy food then we wouldn't need the surgery. And who said skinny healthy people don't indulge in what they like but in ok quantity. Of you deprived yourself you are setting yourself to disappoint.

Excited to be able to extend my neck beyond my boobs when having soup and not to have to carry the ball to my mouth.

Just one week out of Surgery
Dimka replied to mggriffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sounds great, I had a fairly similar experience, and am grateful for that. in my first week I used to get hungry but not able to have more liquid because it just sucked, but I had as much Water as I could. I lost the first thirty pounds very quickly, it's very motivating but I always have to remind myself not to get pissed off because eight is not going to drop as fast in the coming weeks. Good luck with the rest of your journey. -
Sleeved on October 8...update
Dimka replied to cornhusker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats, really great to hear your story! I am only 17 days post op, although am losing weight now, I keep thinking that this is going to stop soon and I will never make it to my goal weight. it haunts me but for now I really can not do much since I am still weeks away from eating salads and vegetables to stay full on healthy stuff. Shopping has been a punishment for years, I can't wait to be able to fit in again in some of those TJ Maxx bargains -

you look fantastic, good for you on the training part -
liquid diet is a big reason, also you should be on antibiotics after surgery which this is one of its side effects. when I finished taking my antibiotics, it got much better, not normal but better.

this is dumb but my biggest question is...
Dimka replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 17 days out but I can tell you that I am staying thirsty all day, I am sipping Water the whole time but my mouth is dry and I never feel that I had enough, I am actually sure that am not having enough because of my urine color (sorry for the TMI). my problem is the low intake of water in general and not only with food, I took one sip with food one time (only because I forgot) and it was so painful so am never doing it again for another 2 months until I heal completely. -
I will be in your stage after 4 days am currently having some mashed potato and thick Soup, I was hungry only twice in the last 10 days, I stop when I feel that I need to burp! I can eat different quantities depending on what am eating so measuring didn't work for me.

Keeping weight loss surgery a secret
Dimka replied to mandyboo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told my husband and my immediate family, I also told my very close 2 cousins because we have dinner together every week and I can't just sit there and lie and say am not hungry, they know me too well lol! I did not tell my judgmental maternal side of the family and no one at work knows, I hate being watched and it's really none of their business. I had the surgery in Feb so I might change my mind later but I work in a very competitive environment and they already spend enough time talking behind my back, I am not adding this to the mix! -
anyone knows about groups in Decatur/Tucker/Dunwoody areas? I had my surgery abroad on Feb 14.

I can relate to this so much, I thought I would share *The Simpsons
Dimka replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my purpose of this surgery at the end is to eat all the food I like with much smaller quantity. if any of you could stick to a strict diet for life, none of us would have needed surgery. We all have a disease called food addiction that's why we needed to resort to extreme measures. the only thing keeping me strong these days is that I know at am one week away from a 2 bites in a burger -

Experiences with other surgeon/hospitals in Mexico
Dimka replied to Jerr_Bear's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my surgery in Egypt! My sister lives there now and i was visiting her on a vacation gor 2 weeks. so I thought why not. I am very happy with my doctor and hospital. Zero complications and minimum pain. -
Do u still risk a leak after 5 weeks? I thought you can introduce yourself to regular food after 30 days! My objective of this surgery is to eat normal (or less) portions of everything including pizza. So I don't think you should feel bad instead be happy that you are being normal ☺️

my email is dyazeji@hotmail.com my surgery was on feb 14

My doctor told me that people who lose a lot of weight pre-op get discouraged by how little they lose after. Thats why he doesn't put patients on pre-op diet just 3 days of clear liquid! Stay positive and don't be upset, you took a step toward permanent solution. I think its time for you to start listening to your body and make your own decisions instead of following instructions to the dot. Good luck!

I started taking Biotin 10 days after surgery. My doctor approved any pills as long as they are small enough so i take the 5000mg pill daily.

What is the downtime after a Gastric Sleeve procedure?
Dimka replied to roomsbylisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Feb 14 , left the hospital on Feb 15 and back to work on Feb 23. One week is good enough if you were lucky and didn't have any complications. I didn't use pain meds after leaving the hospital since it was all liquid i hated it.
