OK I am 9wks post op and I cannot have a bowel movement on my own yet! I'm taking milk of mag like everyday just so I can have a daily BM. Will I ever be able to take a BM on my own?! This is just ridiculous! :-/

I started at 282lbs, wore a size 24. I am now 210lbs and wear between a size 14/16 in regular women's sizes. I had my surgery about 3.5 mths ago. I can tell I'm transferring to a full size 14. I am completely stoked as I haven't worn a size 14 in over 10yrs!!! I'm so excited to be so close to under 200lbs. Life is GREAT!!!! :-D

Clothing Advice while recovering and after surgery
lvan83 replied to snickysnack78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I took 4 wks off and wore pajamas every single day! Then when I tried on my work pants they were too big on me. -
I am almost 4wks post op. The week after my surgery I could sleep. But since then I cant. This is NOT NORMAL for me. I normally sleep like a bear. I'm one of those people who can sleep anywhere at anytime. I love my bed! But I just can't sleep now. This is without mid day naps too. Does anyone else have these issues?? My psychiatrist prescribed me trazodone but it hasnt worked. Only other meds i take are my antidepressants, and they don't cause restlessness. Ugh all I want is to sleep and my brain won't shut up!

Good for you!!!! So happy for you, keep up the great work!! :-D

Hmmm...maybe my issue is lack of fluids. I guess I need to try harder to get my 64oz of fluid in.

Does anyone else fantasize about bad food? I'm 3wks post op and I know I would never eat any of that bad food now. I don't want to feel sick or fall back. But the thoughts are always with me. I find myself thinking about burgers, pizza, etc. Food advertisements are everywhere too! It's on tv, it's on billboards, I see it when I drive by restaurants and can smell fries in the air. It's the hardest mental challenge I've ever faced.

RNY 4 Month Post Op Update
lvan83 replied to Tori Joseph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4wks post op. I've been messing with my slow cooker to get really tender meat and it's working!! I've lost almost 40lbs and I don't really keep track of my calories because I barely eat as it is. It's so hard to eat when you get full so quickly. I give all my scraps to the dog. He thinks it's Christmas everyday. LOL -

hospital stay and back to work
lvan83 replied to keriannk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 1/6 and took 4 wks off. I'll be back at work on 2/9. I really feel like I've needed it because there have been many times I have felt sick/nauseous and glad I was at home to deal with it. Not to mention my energy levels have sucked and I haven't been able to sleep at all. So I'm working on both of those and hope to have them figured out by next weekend. :-/ -
Gas pain and nausea
lvan83 replied to suitechicguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas definitely has to work it's way out. Try walking around and that helps tremendously! And you'll feel even better after your first bowel movement (after surgery) -
Good to know.....I'm so happy to use this forum to ask others these questions! !

Stomach making weird noises
lvan83 replied to cbp0229's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I've gotten used to my intestines talking to me ....LOL -
Yes don't be so hard on yourself! ! It's not like you ate a whole pizza. One small slice won't make a difference. Just move forward and keep staying with the diet.

LOL that sounds sooooooo good!!

DONE with the comments!
lvan83 replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went ahead and announced it to a group of people at work that I feel comfortable talking to about me having the surgery. I mean I was going to be on LOA for 4wks anyways and I didn't want them to think I was sick....especially coming back and having lost 50lbs. That way I got rid of all the questions in advance and now I just have polite comments on my progress. I wasn't oblivious to how unhealthy my body was. I always felt beautiful and I'd still be fat if only diabetes wasn't in my future. I understand being a private person. But when people see others losing weight it inspires them to do better themselves. We live in an obese world. Inspiring others is wonderful. Nod your head and smile with a thank you. Just my opinion. -
Has my body smell changed?
lvan83 replied to Annek2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pee smells the worse. It smells like vitamins and makes me want to gag. :-/ -
Tastes like lemon starburts??? Mmmmm!!! I have the caramel ones and they leave a nasty powder taste in my mouth.

The Isopure 0g carbohydrates drink saved me!!!

The protein shakes made me throw up, I HATE THEM!!!! so my doc told me about Isopure protein drinks. They come in a glass bottle, look like Gatorade and have 40g of protein in each bottle. They sell them at the Vitamin Shoppe. ...you can go to their website if you don't have a store near you. They taste great, are 100% whey protein and tastes like Gatorade and are the texture of Gatorade!!!!

Help! I need to learn to eat slow!
lvan83 replied to krisstep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having a horrible time too. I feel like food keeps getting stuck in my esophagus. And then I have to wait forever for it to work it's way down to my stomach. It sucks, but its a work in progress.
