At a loss, because no loss

Well that is frustrating. Have you consider trying a new NUT? Not sure where you are in TX, but I am able to use someone who does their appts over the phone. It is great. I send them my food logs before our appt and then we spend about 30 minutes talking about changes. I think there was one of the experts on this site offering the same thing. The only confusing part could be that they might think differently than your surgeon but at this point, not sure you have anything to lose.

At a loss, because no loss

I don't know that I have a lot of suggestions. Are you logging every single bite you take? How much Protein are you getting per day? How much calories, carbs, fat, etc.? How about your Water intake? Are you eating protein first and then veggies and then carbs if room left? Did the NUT review your food logs?

    is something wrong

Sometimes the hunger is actually acid reflux. See if you can try a Zantac. That really helped me.

    Endoscopy expectations

Just had one Friday. I was very nervous but as everyone said, it was very fast. I think they said I was asleep 15 minutes and that included balloon dilation (I am 12 weeks post-op and have a stricture). No sore throat but I had sinus pain for about 48 hours - front he oxygen they out in my nose I think.
  5. I understand it to be starting weight also; however, I have also read not to go under 40 BMI (or 35 with co-morbidities). I would ask the surgeon but I would bet they are going to submit whichever one they think will get you approved. Great weight loss pre-op by the way!! Keep up the good work!

    Sad

Yes I was told that too. I guess he is over cautious but then so am I I just have a feeling I will be sat somewhere quite and away from my co workers for the rest of the week My poor hubby though... he might be moving out before then LOL! I hear ya! And combined with the liquid pre-op. I was not a pleasant person to be around for sure! Hope its over for you soon!
  7. That is scary but you have several steps before you have to pay. First call your insurance and find out for sure they have paid the correct amount and appeal it if you don't agree. If it is paid correctly, you will be able to negotiate with the hospital. They should only be able to Bill you for that amount above what insurance didn't pay of the CONTRACTED amount. Hospitals are always going to try to bill you the largest amount hoping you don't question it. Question the heck out of it and negotiate. Good luck!

    Sad

Oh I'm sure you didn't. Every Dr is different. My surgeon actually hadn't told me but my endocrinologist did so I called the surgeon and asked who confirmed it but then they never told me at pre-op or hospital release so I just stuck with what they originally told me. It has something to do with potential for blood clots.

    Sad

I had to stop HRT the week before and the week after only.
  11. Third day is the worst. Should get easier tomorrow. Excedrin did help me too
  12. Re those eating whatever they want so early, wonder how successful they will be long term. My bet - not very. If they don't battle their internal demons, they will gain it back. This can be a frustrating experience but try to keep your eye on the long term prize and don't envy those that aren't following the rules and revel in the fact that you can make sure you will not be one of those. The restriction will come when you start eating more dense foods. Meanwhile, measure and track and stop when you are satisfied. That takes a while to learn because it is so different than our former mindset. And if you don't have a therapist, try to find one specializing in Bariatrics / food issues. Best money I have spent. Don't know how people get thru this without it - except for some of the amazing support and advice on this board. Those that have done this before us sometimes show us tough love because they know what's best for us and how we can be successful.
  13. Definitely liquids including protein if at all possible but most importantly do not dehydrate. I have a stricture they just found and wasn't able to keep food or protein down. They were more worried about fluid and sent me to ER to get fluids so that I didn't dehydrate. I am almost 3 months out and without my protein I survived but am definitely hungry and weak. They dilated the stricture and told me to stickbwoth liquids for a week including 2 to 3 protein drinks so in short they worry about both. Do you have a therapist you can call that might help to talk through your situation? I hope it resolves quickly. Do your best Ronstadt healthy so you can get to the other side of your situation.

    Pain when drinking.

It is likley just swelling that is taking time to go down. If you are still having it in the morning, you might call the dr office just to ease your mind.

    When to get checked out

@@Sollabe - Yes I used the heating pad on my stomach. I don't know if it was just in my mind or not but it sure felt better! Also, if you can stand it, kneel down on your knees and then lay down with arms outstretched on the floor (in other words, your stomach pressing against your knees with your bum up in the air). That will sometimes help release the gas. Keep taking the Gas-x. Just one strip didn't work for me. I would generally use 3 as a dose.
  16. UGH! I had peanuts last night. I even weighed it out - only 1/4 ounce but I after I ate them, I had this brief thought "did I chew that?". Um yea so I guess I didn't. I am SO sick! I threw up last night and several times this morning. I can barely get anything down. Few sips of shake came back up. I have managed 2 - 6 oz cups of warm tea all day. I tried chicken broth - got in maybe 2 or 3 oz before I feel too sick to go on. Have had Zofran 3 times today. I actually was at the surgeon's office this morning and she said I may just have to keep vomiting until it comes up. I must have a stuck peanut! Really? I am SO miserable.... OK, enough whining. Any great ideas out there how I can feel better faster? I really do not want to vomit again. Surely this darn peanut is gone by now!

    Pain when drinking.

Are you drinking too much or too fast? You have to have very small sips right now.

How to prepare for the hospital

Take chopstick / lip balm of some kind. Your lips do get a little chapped.

    When to get checked out

Glad you went to urgent care. Sometimes you just need to eat on the side if caution. Glad you are feeling better. You have to sip sip sip and stay hydrated. Almost 3 months out I get dizzy sometimes when not drinking enough. Have you tried Gas-X strips for the gas? I really did find it helped. Also a heating pad seemed to help me.

    Chest pains after surgery?

    Have you tried Gas-X strips?
  21. Daisee68

    I messed up

The "hunger" could actually be acid reflux. If you aren't taking something for reflux, try a Zantac. It certainly helped me.

    Chest pains after surgery?

you may be drinking too much too fast. You have to sip. Use a 1 oz. medicine cup and sip out of it - like 1/3 to 1/2 at a time and time your sips 3 to 5 minutes apart. It gets eaiser by next week.

    Surgery Experts Needed

I have an app on my phone to count it. It is really important. Another way to do it would be to fill up a 64 oz pitcher in the morning and then just make sure you finish it by the end of the day.
  24. Yea, I would bet that is because they get commission from selling it. You definitely have to watch the Protein grams, sugars, etc in choosing protein, but I have never used unjury and my labs all came back great. I use Precision Engineering whey Protein Isolate (make sure it is Isolate), Premier Protein ready to drink shakes and Doc Hale's Whey-licious Unflavored. I seem to absorb all quite well and like the taste (as much as you can like Protein powder anyway).

    Tired all the time ..

You have had little to no protein according to some of your other posts, so it makes sense you would be tired. Hoping your NUT has clarified that by now and as you add in protein and more foods, it should get better. Also be sure you are drinking enough. Dehydration can cause weakness and tiredness.
