    I'm I failing already!

    A) Trust me you will drive yourself crazy comparing yourself to others. Know that some weights shown on here do not tell the whole story. (Many lose before surgery so they aren't losing 50 pounds in 2 months post-surgery.) Remember this is not a diet and seeing it as something you have "failed" is much like your / our prior "diet" mentality. Are you eating healthier? Are you making better choices? Are you less obsessed with food? Are your clothes fitting better? You have to look at this as a lifetime change not a short term goal. If the scale drives you nuts, put it away. Trading one obsession for another won't work long term. Keep up the good work and keep your eye on the prize!

    Eating Real Food

Wow that sounds like a lot of food at one sitting this early. I am not eating that much yet (though I am bypass patient). Have you tried other sources like cheeses, yogurt, etc?

    Made it !

Woo-hoo!! Congrats! That is amazing! I have been dreaming about that day very recently so I can only imagine your excitement. Keep up the great work!

    Protein Bars..When did you start?

3 months here too. I would say it's a little too soon for you.

    I'm Approved but disappointed

Rude. Sounds like she might be jealous you will lose more? Do it for you not her and ignore the haters.
  6. @ - Theresa I am glad you are not discouraged by some of the ridiculous comments. Just ignore them. And I am also glad they are doing something at the hospital but I am sorry the call went poorly. I applaud you for following through and being so brave in pursuing this! I have thought about you all last night and today since I read your post....
  7. Hope it goes well! FYI, try taking half a dose of pain med if the whole dose makes you sick. Sometimes that works for me.

    Calf cramp

@@amazon - Well I guess I cannot swear to that being the cause but I do know it seems to be related to me. Maybe it's a Graves disease thing? Dr did actually have to increase my med for now. Hopeful it will decrease once the weight is off. I generally feel better around 3 to 4 weeks in so it would make sense that you are feeling some improvement. Again, I am not a medical professional but it sure seems to make a difference for me.
  9. @@Proud2BMe If true?? Really? Why would you question someone you don't even know when reporting something this tragic? I mean even if for some strange reason you are choosing not to believe her, why not just move on to another post? This is the exact reason people who are sexually abused do not report it. SMH....
  10. Sounds like a stricture to me. Be sure to explain carefully to your Dr and insist on and endoscopy to check for it. If you do have it, they simply dilate with a balloon. Really easy procedure. They may need to schedule for more than once. I just went through this.
  11. Oh my goodness you poor thing! I have no words! What a horrible experience! I sincerely hope your health is OK and you will see a therapist. I am just heart broken for you!

    Don't beat me up....

@@_Kate_ - Sorry that didn't work for you! I wouldn't think the liquids for a few days would hurt then, as long as you get your Protein goal in. Give it a try. Can't hurt! (But PS I just saw you posted re meds - maybe the HRT will help? Have you had your thyroid checked? My Synthroid wasn't absorbing correctly and my TSH was quite high at about 12 weeks post-op - 4.76. That is HIGH for me. I had my thyroid ablated due to Graves Disease so I have no functioning thyroid and survive off replacement only - much like my HRT since I no longer have those parts either. I feel much better close to 1-1.5 TSH.) My weight has been a very strange path all along though I'm not sure I really have hit a stall oddly. I may go 4 days without loss but then will lose 2 pounds, then up 1 pound, then down 1/2 pound then up a pound, etc. etc. It just keeps adding up though, so I haven't had to deal with the stall - thank goodness - so not sure I have great advice! Just sympathies and hugs from across the pond!

    Mood taking a dive

Yep. I had to increase my thyroid med and my depression med (Brintellix). Very patiently waiting for both to kick in. Had a much better weekend yesterday and today than last weekend when I couldn't motivate myself to get off the couch, so hoping the med increase is starting to work.
  15. You are more than half way there! You can do this! Mine was only 3 months. 6 months is tough. Congrats for sticking with it!

    Don't beat me up....

I had to go on liquid again due to a stricture. It was brutal! (Not just the vomiting part but the being restricted to liquids again. Having said that, I did lose 10 pounds in that 2 weeks. Not the way I want to do it But it seems that liquid only for a couple of days might jumpstart you. I have read others though actually increased their calories to change a stall.
  17. I'll be curious to see others advise. My NUT just told me I could try quinoa in small portions. It is Protein but also carb (though good carb). I've never had it (even pre-op). I am about 3 1/2 months post-op.

    Thank you, LULULEMON!

    What a great story!

    Help.....need ideas

@@jrivers03 - I suppose you would need to check your individual plan but for most of us the liquid per-op diet consists of shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles, jello, any sugar free liquid .

    post op liquid phase question

Not a silly question. I asked the same. It is fine to drink with but just don't drink too fast and get overfull - especially if you are trying to get your Protein in.
  23. I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate. I think it says 99% lactose free. Not sure if that is good enough but you might check it out. They also sell it in 1lb bags in addition to the 5lb jars so you would be able to invest a little less to give it a try. Both chocolate and vanilla are very good. Also, look at Fairview milk which I think (not positive) is lactose free.
  24. OP, I am sorry shakes aren't working for you but you cannot honestly think eating ice cream at 3 weeks post-op is a good idea, right? At 3 1/2 months post-op I am only taking in 600is calories per day (per my NUT which frankly seems a little low but another post for another time). If I were to have a 400 calorie shake, I would pretty much be done for the day. No one here is deliberately trying to be rude or put you down, but you have to understand how ridiculous it sounds to 99% of us that not only would you be eating ice cream at this stage but that your NUT would actually approve it. My NUT, my surgeon, my therapist would all completely flip out if I told them I was eating ice cream. We all know how tough the first month is truly, and it is so nice to find something you can finally tolerate, but I promise you that your loss is not sustainable with that kind of drink. As others pointed out, there are so many here that don't have a NUT and don't get any guidance and we just want to be sure they know that 99% of us think this is a bad idea. There was another poster a while back that at 6 twas eating bread, rice and Pasta. I am sure your NUT has told you that is a bad idea too and we told him that at that time also. Don't take offense. We are just trying to protect others who don't have a NUT guiding them.
