    Happy dance

    Congrats!!
  2. Not sure if this will help but I had a terrible time with nausea after my bypass. I was taking Zofran for nausea and Dr told me that if you are dehydrated (or just not drinking enough) Zofran won't work. Sort of a vicious cycle. So see if you can find anything other than water to drink and then take the med. PowerAde Zero, Propel Fitness water (I like the berry flavor), even just some broth, etc.

    Possible Stricture?

@@foodfighter78 - I am sorry it is taking so long but I am glad you got an appt.

    Seeing a psychologist

Absolutely! For 4 months before surgery and still seeing her at almost 6 months post-op. I will see her for 2 years post-op (though eventually only once per month. Right now it's every other week). This is a HUGE deal and I commend you for considering it. If you can find someone that deals especially with bariatric patients and/or food addiction issues then all the better. My therapist has been the biggest part of my journey and I could not have gotten this far without her and don't expect that I will be able to maintain without continuing to see her.

@@foodfighter78 - did you hear from your Dr today?

    3 months after surgery

@@shellbell79 - I am not sure you read all the information. This person is from Egypt and received no real instruction and has been trying to find everything from the internet. Your reaction is a bit too strong for this person who truly was seeking help when she hadn't been given the same instruction we receive here in the states. I know some people on this board are moaning about following rules and perhaps then your response would have been appropriate but in this individual's case, your response appears to be too aggressive.

    100 lbs

    Congrats! Great work!
  8. So very sorry you are having so much pain! My first thought is auto-immune disease too. If you cannot get to Mayo, have you at least seen rheumatologist? That is who diagnosed my auto-immune disease (Graves Disease and ongoing monitoring for Lupus due to some certain markers shown in a blood test).

    Possible Stricture?

UGH! I am so sorry you are having such trouble. Try to take tiny tiny sips all day long and stay hydrated. If you aren't getting enough fluids, just go to the ER and then someone will have to deal with it!
  10. People are starting to question if I am the same person. I still have 50ish pounds to lose so I'm not sure I want to do it just yet??
  11. @@TinyTink LOL!! I will have to have my passport redone also. My drivers license doesn't renew until 2020 so I can't wait for that. Suppose I will hold out as long as I can (or until someone tells me I am completely unrecognizable ????). I had blood work done this morning and the lab tech kept questioning me. Nicely actually. Kind if funny. I just didn't realize it was THAT different. Clearly it is. I know I am thinner at 95 pounds down. I don't have sort of body dysmorphia (the I think I had that problem in my former self as I never recognized how large I actually was) but I sure wish I could see what others see!

    Possible Stricture?

I would call the GI Dr that did your first dilation. Skip the bariatric surgeon altogether

    Possible Stricture?

I did read another post on here that someone did have it come back after many months so I think it is possible. I can't remember who said it though.

    So weak and tired

The 3rd week was a rough week for me too but it gets better. Make sure you're taking vitamins (including B12) and getting protein and fluids and just be patient.???? Promise it gets better and will totally be worth it!!

    Constipation

I found the benefiber made mine worse.
  16. The few people I know personally are examples of "what not to do". I am so blessed to have found this site and the wonderful people here. They are my role models - @@Djmohr, @@Elode, @@Babbs, @@Inner Surfer Girl, and a few others I know I am forgetting right now. Truly wouldn't have gotten this far without you! And PS I stumbled on this site thanks to google search for something so regardless of the drama a while back about a certain person complaining their posts could be searched, I am forever grateful that the posts were searchable or I never would have gotten here!!
  17. Definitely include some broths. I loved Swanson's Mexican Tortilla Soup broth. A little spicy so needs to be watered down a little. For shakes, one of my favorites was Orange Crush powder (like the sticks of Crystal Light) mixed with vanilla Protein powder (I LOVE Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate vanilla) and 2 oz of fat free milk with 4 to 6 oz of Water and few ice cubes (or you can skip the milk and just use water). Tastes a bit like Orange Julius. After about 6 weeks post-op, I added in a very small bit of banana (like 1 oz or about 1/4th of medium banana). My other favorite shake is PB2 and chocolate powder. Also, once you can have pudding or yogurt, boost their protein with 1/2 scoop of Protein Powder (vanilla powder with Dannon Light & Fit Greek strawberry Cheesecake is really good). You can also use sugar free syrups (by Torani for example). Or mix in small bit of pudding mix. Here is a link to some good ones - http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/06/my-favorite-protein-shake-recipes.html Finally some people like the Isopure and nectar fruit flavored drinks. I hated them both but that's just me. Just remember that the first few weeks post-op are tough but you have to keep your eye on the prize and just power through it.
  18. No blasting but have you considered seeing a therapist? Mine has been of huge help to me and I likely would have followed the same path without her forcing me to deal with food issues.
  19. @@RDub - very interesting!
  20. I am really struggling with cravings the last couple of weeks. I think I am likely being a little too restrictive and not getting in enough variety. My biggest fear in this journey (and has been since day 1 though feeling it more the last week or so) is gaining the weight back. Today as I make my grocery list for the week, I feel like I am still living with a "diet" mentality and I think that will eventually lead to a "breakdown" in my food choices. I just want to get my head shifted from "diet" to "healthy lifestyle" and can't seem to get there. I know the "diet" lifestyle is not sustainable for me as it hasn't been so many times in the past...So I guess my question is - how do you find balance in what you eat or maybe you don't and still choose extreme restriction? How can I become "normal"? (I know that is not possible at only 5 months post-op but I am trying to head off a "breakdown" of making some bad choices now.)
  21. @@BENNYB - Thanks. I am actually 5 1/2 months out so I don't think it is surgery related. I have an eye dr appt Wednesday. Maybe I'm just old!
  22. OK this is driving me crazy too. I thought the blurry vision was just from looking at my phone too much but now I am really struggling to see my computer at work. I don't have a patch for nausea and am not on blood pressure med and my diabetes is now in remission Wonder if this is just a coincidence or is related to the surgery somehow?

    Possible Stricture?

Just emailed you. Only twice but 2ND Dr said he felt like it could have all been done the first time. I just think some drs are more conservative than others (which frankly was fine with me. I prefer conservative.)

    Pickle joy no more?

Yep me too. Right after surgery I even drank pickle juice to help with hydration because I wasn't always drinking enough. They are high is salt so you have to watch that and you have to get protein in but otherwise I don't see why you can't have them - eventually anyway
  25. Daisee68

    Happy girl right now!

You can boost the protein by adding some vanilla or unflavored protein powder to it. I generally use about half a scoop. I know you can't tolerate the shakes but the powder might work if you haven't tried that.
