  1. Liquid passes through more quickly than solid food. Early on you should be able to take in 1 oz of Fluid every 15 minutes. That increases fairly rapidly once the swelling goes down. At this point you should be able to take in at least 2oz (possibly closer to 4oz) every 15 minutes. Keep sipping at your Protein shake until it is gone - hopefully it won't take you more than an hour. After you are finished with your shake, start working on other fluids. Help....over-ate?

I think you are confusing volume with weight. You can hold 4oz volume of food (1/2 cup). The bar weighs 5.3oz but completely chewed up, it does not take up 5.3oz. It likely would be less than 2oz in volume once chewed. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling sick

Oh and depending on the type of surgery, you may need to avoid Extended Release meds Sent from my SM-T560NU using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling sick

Most bariatric Dr's say to avoid ant NSAIDS which would include ibuprofen (Advil / Motrin) and aspirin (also found in Alka Seltzer). Any cold meds without that should be OK including those with Tylenol. Sent from my SM-T560NU using the BariatricPal App

    Ten days post op...help!

Try some sugar free flavored syrups (like Torani or DaVinci) to add to your shakes. Try some savory broths like Swanson's Tortilla Soup broth (saved my life - a little spicy so Water down and just try a little to see how you react). Sugar free Popsicle's for sure! Freeze your Protein shake and eat Luke ice cream? Check out Www.the worldaccordingToeggface.com for some shake ideas too. Mostly just hang in there. You are almost there! You made it this far and you can totally do a few more days! I believe in you! ???? I agree that at 9 months out and 130 pounds down, I don't even remember those days. You got this* Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  6. @@Elode - glad you came to a decision. I know you will feel better having come to a resolution. So excited for you! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  7. Earplugs if you have them. But the hospital did provide them. (The stupid machines beeped all night and I couldn't sleep.). And easy shoes to slip on to walk in. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

No need to panic. They will just adjust your dosage it even tell you to stop taking it for a while likely. Call Monday if you don't have an appointment set up. Meanwhile, rest easy. After all it obviously means you have done a great job at taking your vitamins! ???? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Smaller clothes...

  10. I think they have up to 30 days but I believe most get a response in 1 or 2 weeks. I actually got move in less than 24 business hours (submitted on a Friday at noon and surgeons office called me the following Monday morning). Just be sure you have EVERYTHING including letter of recommendation from PCP or doctor other than the surgeon (this was the last thing I was missing when I thought we were ready to submit). Mind games = my worst enemy

Welcome! And I agree you are going to do great! Being aware of the potential downfalls and having a plan is key (as it is for your anxiety which I too have issues with). I would agree that you should take off as long as you can to get you through the toughest part. Realize now that hormones play a mean role in the early weeks, so you can expect your anxiety (potentially) to increase temporarily (at least it did for me). I ended up upping my med (though mine is really for depression but same principle as far as emotional distress). Perhaps have a conversation with your doctor regarding anxiety meds before surgery so you can have a plan and perhaps be able to just call them if you feel you need an increase or something different than Xanax. This is a wild ride and the first few months were rough for me, but at 9 months out and 128 pounds down (100 of that since surgery) and my diabetes in remission, I wish I had made the decision sooner and don't regret it for a minute. (Don't read my earlier posts though or you will see that I did regret it early on! ) Best of luck to you! you sound very prepared! Deep breaths and keep checking back here! There are some amazing mentors here (including all of above who have answered you already) who always give great sound advice and are great sounding boards!!
  12. The food stuck thing is from eating too much or too fast. What are they allowing you to have in the hospital? Should just be liquids.... Even then you can drink too fast and cause the hiccups. (I ate a lot of ice and still ate that too fast!) Hang in there!
  13. Unfortunately some plans just completely exclude it. I am not sure there is much way around it. The only thing I could think of that might even remotely help would be a call from your doctor.
  14. If the genpro doesn't work, I like Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate which is 99% lactose free. (I think all Whey Protein ISOLATE is but I wouldn't swear to that. Just be sure it is the ISOLATE that you get.)
  15. @InnerSurferGirl - Love these ideas! Especially the one of figuring out how far away something is and then walking that equivalent distance on the treadmill. Very creative! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Scared and frustrated

For what it's worth, 7 months seems to be a tough transition time. I recall I had some similar issues as did a few others here. Don't beat yourself up. You recognize it is an issue and that is the most important. One meal / one bite at a time. Try to put it in a food tracker before you eat it so you can see what the nutrients look like and once you see that and adjust accordingly, only put that exact thing on your plate. You will be fine. You have come a long way. This is just a bump in the road. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Skinny

@@antionettemn619y1 - Let's be honest here - we all did this to get skinny. Look I said it was to get rid if the diabetes (which it did) but reality is I didn't want to be the biggest person in the room anymore either. I don't have kids but spend a lot of time with my nephews and didn't want them to be embarrassed by me as they got older. There are a lot of great benefits to being "skinny" including (or maybe most especially) the clothes. And I am just now in a 14! I am 5' 10" though so it looks a little different on me. There are folks on here with very low BMIs getting surgery which I don't totally understand but who am I to judge their reasoning. I agree you don't want to be pushed into this but it sounds like you aren't and it is a decision you are happy with. My best advise is to consider therapy if you can and really take that seriously. There are a lot of emotions that come with this and talking to a professional really helps - especially if it is someone who works with bariatric patients. The best thing I have learned is to stop lying to myself. Still a work in progress but my therapist calls me out when I make excuses for poor choices and it is making it easier to call myself out. 18. If you have that kind of pain this far out, you may be eating too much too fast. You are also likely in the famous 3 week stall. Just keep working the program, and it will come off. Meanwhile slowdown and chew well and stop eating at 20 minutes and see if that helps the pain Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  19. The first day is really tough! I went back at 2 1/2 weeks and was pretty tired for a week or so. It's gets better. Get some rest tonight! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

  22. You can get it this early. Keep an eye on it. I was vomiting once or twice a week at that point and didn't discover structure until 3 months post-op Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  23. If you are having to pee that often, then you are probably very close to passing it. If you start to get spasms in your bladder or even urethra, don't panic. Your body is trying to break the stone in smaller pieces to pass easier. Hopefully it wil be over soon! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  24. Oh one more thing.... Some urologists will also prescribe a med that is actual ll used by men for prostate issues because it will dilate the ureter and make it easier to pass. They can also give you an anti-spasmodic drug which will sometimes lessen some if the pain if it has moved to your bladder. Best of luck!! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  25. I have A LOT if kidney stones. She. They first occurred about 4 years ago, I had a 20mm and 9mm stone on the left and a 10mm and 9mm on my right. They had to do something because you can only pass a 5mm-6mm on your own. (Have they said the approx size?) For mine to grow that large, they had been there probably 2 years but didn't cause pain until they moved. I had 3 rounds of lithotripsy (both kidneys at same time) and bi-lateral ureter scents for 3 weeks. The agents were awful. I have passed many other since then. Mine always come at the worst times - and in fact day after I got home from my RNY, I passed a quite large one. From your description, it sounds like it may be on the way out. The lithotripsy was actually quite easy. Go to sleep, wake up 30 minutes later. Back was a little sore but not too bad. Ice or heat worked for me some. Hot bath helped a lot (especially with the stents). I have a crazy remedy for you that actually worked on me a few times. My Dr threw it out as sort of a fluke but I tried it and sped up the process of passing it. It is to drink about 8 oz of Fluid then bend over a couch or something with your head facing down (ie your kidneys are pointing downwards) and then pound on your back in the kidney area. You can't do it for too long. I try to pound about 50 times (I use a sock with tennis balls in it) and then staying leaning over, take a break. I know it sounds crazy but the movement does seem to move the stone along. Take ur pain med first (preferably with food so you don't get sick) and then after 30 or so minutes drink the Water. Waiting 30 minutes after drinking is to give time for fluid to get to your kidneys. The pain will likely come and go but if it continues at the pain level you are at, you may want to go ahead and do the lithotripsy. I've had it done 4 times now. Too many times can damage your kidney but so can a stuck stone. Walking helps move the stone too supposedly as I would imagine rid g a horse would do the same - jostling the stone around. So sorry you are going thru with this. I know it is no fun! Oh and yes my stomach does get messed up when I am going to pass one. It is sometimes one of my clues one is coming. If I can help answer any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
