Best bariatric vitamins?
Daisee68 replied to cheerios45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like BariMelt. Just had labs and everything was perfect. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -
@@mnopali - They cannot submit to Cigna for approval until all appointments are done. (They require the NUT visits to be spaced apart and take at least 89 days - or at least what it was last year.) So your first NUT appointment starts the clock ticking and then you have 3 followup appointments (about 3 months). Then Cigna takes 1 to 2 week (usually) to respond and then you get a surgery date (once approved). SO, 4 months might be a little quick, but I would say you could look at 4 to 5 months. My first consolation was January 20, 2015 and I had surgery on June 4, 2015.

A Beef about my Surgeon
Daisee68 replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately, I think this is more common than not. And unfortunately seems to be the case for many different types of surgeons. They hire PA's to handle the follow-ups so they are freed up to do more surgeries. I don't like it either and has been the reason I have changed surgeons (not bariatric) more than once. I really like my surgeon but she is in a small office and still I have only seen her twice since surgery 10 months ago and that was because I had a complication early on. Just wanted you to know you are not alone... Unfortunately, I think this is more common than not. And unfortunately seems to be the case for many different types of surgeons. You know you lost weight when
Daisee68 replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You don't dread going to the Dr (actually look forward to hearing about your results) and don't worry have to look for the lightest clothes in your closet so you can shave a few ounces off ???? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -
Lucky girl, you got real food! I had liquid only but only for 1 week so I was actually luckier than most too! Good luck! You can do this! First 3 days are the hardest then it gets a little easier!

For what it's worth, it is this rule that has kept me from snacking for the most part. When I realize that I need to get in more fluids but want a snack, I realize that eating would make me have to wait longer to drink so I manage to convince myself the snack isn't worth it.

Today is my 1 year surgiversary!

Congrats!! When my restless leg fires up it is always because my thyroid med is off. If you are on thyroid med, might be worth getting it checked. -
The Bariatric store
Daisee68 replied to 1cutiejulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@1cutiejulie - if you're referring to the BariatricPal Store, I have bought from them twice. I like quite a few of their products (especially the Protein Hot chocolate Amaretto flavor). Fast shipping. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -
Can I play devil's advocate here a little? I know the hurdles and waiting seems unnecessary but I can assure you that going thru them helps prepare you for your new life. Be sure to do some of those things even if they aren't "required" and you are sure to have more success. Just my 2 cents.... Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

What's a good protein drink?
Daisee68 replied to CrissyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein is a very smooth texture - just slightly thicker (but not much) than full fat milk. -
Ok, so don't beat yourself up too much. You have to learn from this. Not sure how far out you are but this is a process. My therapist tells me over and over that I did not gain all this weight overnight and how could I possibly expect change those lifelong habits overnight. Well more accurately she even says how could I imagine changing it in 10 months (as I am 10 months post-op). I made some bad choices this weekend - at least scallops aren't a terrible choice! Track it and make a note how full you got and how miserable that made you and it will remind you next time. The only way I seem to learn is by vomiting. Not really the way I want to learn that I ate too much! Own up to it, see it on paper, reflect on how you don't want to feel this way again and then move on. If we don't learn from our mistakes, we just keep beating ourselves up and move back towards that old cycle we all lived before of overeating. Don't let that happen!

Can't look back, I'm not going that way
Daisee68 replied to LizBeth82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh gosh. That is tough. Maybe @@Djmohr can way in on this for you. She has terrible back / spine issues and unable to do much psychically either and still managed to lose. I'm only 10 months post-op, so I am not the best person to answer this but based on what I have seen from others - you might try doing liquid again for a few days to jump start the loss? You have done so well and come so far (and wow only 17 lbs baby weight?!) You know how to do this and you can totally get back your mojo. As you said, you won't look back. You got this!! -
Yes, that can be an issue especially if you are exercising a lot. Otherwise, a stall at 3 weeks is pretty normal. Could just be your body catching up. What carb and fat grams are you getting? Are you getting in all your fluids?

What's a good protein drink?
Daisee68 replied to CrissyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One more I just remembered as I am getting one out of my cabinet for an evening snack - if you like hot chocolate, check out the Protein hot chocolate from the BariatricPal Store. The amaretto flavor is my favorite! Only time I have actually found Protein powder that could be heated and didn't clump. 80 calories and 15g protein. http://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/hot-protein-drinks/products/bariatricpal-hot-chocolate-protein-drink-amaretto -
Did anyone get clumsy after weight loss? (and 3 month check up)
Daisee68 replied to james1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Klutzy and memory is likely the hormone imbalance. Hormones released as the fat burns off. It should rebalance shortly. -
It takes a while for your body to adjust. You are still healing. chicken can be tough so avoid it for a little while. Stick with softer foods for a while if you need to. I had to for a long time. What kind of Protein drink are you using? Premier Protein ready made drinks are only 11 oz and 30g protein. If you haven't tried those, give them a try.

@KristinLe - I don't remember exactly as I seemed to have happened up on them. I think they were near the sports drinks. Either that or on the coffee aisle (I recall finding them I think when I was looking for the sugar free flavored syrups to add to my shakes). The brand was Bob's. I'll see if I can find a link. What's a good protein drink?
Daisee68 replied to CrissyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Premier Protein. Ready to drink shakes a d still at 10 months post-op have 1 every day. For powders I use Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate. Both the chocolate and the vanilla are wonderful. My sister (non-WLS) tried it and loved it much more than the others she had tried. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -
I was just going to post a response to someone who was craving salty foods to try pickle juice. At Walmart, I bought these sport stick Popsicle things which was just pickle juice. You can freeze them for a savory fix or drink some small amounts. I know it is high in sodium so you can't do it often but man it was something that really helped me early post-op (helped with fluids and helped move other things alone if you catch my drift... ????). Does it get easier to get in your fluids?
Daisee68 replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well darn @maemae. I was hoping that would be a quick solution for your hunger! As we said above. It should start getting easier soon. Can you have Popsicles? The crunching of that helped me some and it gives u some Fluid. I also ate ice but some say not to do that. Try getting a tiny cup (like a medicine cup) and sip from it every 5 minutes for about an hour and do that several times. Literally set the timer on your phone for 5 minutes and keep sipping. It will help get those funds in until it gets easier . Hang in there!! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -

Daisee68 replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@MaeMae - Sometimes acid reflux can mimic a hunger feeling. Were you given a PPI or other acid reducer? If so, be sure to take it faithfully. If not, you might contact your surgeon to get one. -

What signs should I look for to know I'm full?
Daisee68 replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should improve once you move to solid foods but meanwhile concentrate on portion sizes and time (try to eat for 20 minutes and stop at 30 Max). Some signs are hiccup, runny nose, burp, pressure in chest. It isn't the normal full feeling in our stomach we have felt before (or at least it isn't for me). Good luck! You will figure it out on time. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
