  1. They have a coconut flavor that is clear. You might look at that one.

@@ssflbelle - So sorry you are having so much pain! I am glad the drs took you seriously though and hope they can find a good resolution soon!
  3. I agree with what everyone else said about the danger to your stomach by eating those things, but having said that I don't have to cook for others and have said several times that would be difficult. And I very much understand the temptation / addiction to food - you are certainly not alone with this. Now, let's see if we can come up with some strategies to help you get through it. Maybe you can have your meal or even your shake BEFORE you start cooking and then you will be full while you are cooking and won't want their food because you are so full? Or maybe have your meal ready so you can sit and eat with them and eat your meal. Look, this is a tough road. The head hunger is what got most (if not all) of us to the point we needed surgery. The first few weeks are tough.... but I promise they get easier. You just have to come up with some strategies to get through the first few weeks until it becomes more of a habit. Good luck! You came this far, you can totally go all the way!
  4. I know it is frustrating but at least you knew to expect it. It is just part of the process. There is nothing you can do to "break" it. I am 10 1/2 months post-op and I have them occasionally and then you will see a big drop when it breaks. Your body needs to break to catch up. For now, stick to the program and stay off the scale. It will drive you crazy! 16 pounds in 3 weeks is amazing! Congratulate yourself and as @InnerSurferGirl says - EMBRACE THE STALL....
  5. I don't think it has anything rondo really with changing up our miconutrients. I lose and stall when I eat the same. After a stall though, I lose quite a bit rapidly for a week or two then it stops again. Just all part of the orocess Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery date is may 31

My restless leg kicks up only when my thyroid is off - same post-op as pre-op. Just have to keep having thyroid checked as I absorb the thyroid replacement med differently now. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  7. Even with RNY, I have averaged about 10 to 12 pounds per month in the early months. Now at 10 months out, I average closer to 5 pounds. Have lost about 110 since surgery in June 2015 and very very happy with that! Try not to get caught up in the how much how fast and comparing yourself to others. It will drive you crazy!! Remember when you go down in band size, you may need to go up in cup size (yes even if saggy). Try some on. I have had to change the band size from 46C to 38DD or 36DDD depending on the bra. I find plunge bras more enchanting and full coverage make them just look sad. I also use extra padding now to fill out the cup more. Don't be afraid to try on many different styles in many different sizes. They all fit different. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

  11. ????. I had a TON of random questions so I totally understand! I'm betting the clear liquid diet will take care of the concern but perhaps someone else will weigh in on whether it was requires of them. (I don't recall hearing others had the requirement but I could be wrong.). Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  12. I would not do ice cream and milkshakes. If you can tolerate those at least do a Protein shake instead so there is some nutrional value and a lot less sugar. I ate a lot of hummus, fat free refried Beans with cheese melted on top, Greek yogurt mixed with 1/2 scoop of protein powder), sugar free pudding snack (mixed with half scoop of protein powder), Soups, Laughing Cow cheese, pimiento cheese (yep cheese was and is still my friend). My tastes would change one day to the next sometimes. The easiest thing for me to do was plan out my meals for the day early in the day then I didn't have to think about what I wanted - I just ate what I had planned. Remember your job now is to fuel your body. It may not always be what you want but it can be what you need. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    So tired!

Any possibility it is thyroid condition? If you were on thyroid meds pre-op, it is worth getting your levels checked. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Vitamins

I take BariMelt products which can be bought in the BariatricPal Store or on Amazon. Just got my labs back and everything was perfect. Fairly inexpensive and seems to be fewer pills than some people take. Check it out Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling light headed

Could also be dehydration but yes lack of calories early on can cause it. Mine went away for the most part. Oh also if you are on blood pressure meds, you might check your blood pressure and see if you need to adjust your meds. Otherwise probably best to give to Dr a call Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App
  17. I did not have these requirements and was surprised too. If you have been on a liquid diet though like I was, that may have mostly taken care of the issues. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

Off my diabetes med in the hospital day after surgery and now at 10 months post-op, my endocrinologist declared my diabetes in complete remission as of last week. I was also able to stop taking cholesterol med and my blood pressure has been excellent.
  20. You will have to follow your doctor's plan. Some people here have 2 weeks liquid only. Some get shakes with 1 small meal per day. Some have no pre-op diet. I had only 1 week of pre-op diet but it was strictly liquids. The fact is the surgeons all have specific plans and reasons for doing them. What brand of shakes are you drinking? You are going to be full liquid for a couple of weeks after surgery, so you have to find something you can tolerate.

    First Appointment

Congrats and good luck on your journey!!
  22. I ate a ton of sugar free fruit popsicles during pre-op diet and in the early weeks post-op. (FYI, even sugar free, they still have carbs so be sure to count those if your NUT requires keeping under a certain number of carbs) Some people do not tolerate sugar alcohols which are found in sugar free products post-op. You will just have to see how they sit with you. Having said all that, what @@Kindle said - get some popsicle molds and then make your own Protein popsicles. Premier Protein ready made chocolate shake right in a mold and then you get 30g of protein with your popsicle treat!

Upper body / back pain after surgery

I am sorry I don't have an answer for you, but don't be afraid to call the on-call doctor. It is probably the gas and swelling but never hurts to ask a medical expert. I had some issues with another surgery with that kind of pain and they said it was gas but still..... In the meantime while you are waiting on a call back, try laying on a heating pad or even putting a heating pad on your stomach. That seemed to help my gas. Oh and you can take more of the Gas-X strips than it says on the package. The strips are actually a pretty low dose. Good luck! Call the dr and don't get dehydrated! Just take tiny tiny sips every 5 minutes - set your timer on your phone and use a medicine cup.

    Dr. Clayton Frenzel Dallas/Plano

Well that stinks! I hate when doctors have incompetent office staff. Have you called tried to call his Dallas office and make a stink about not getting a call back? I had post-op labs at 3 months (but I had bypass with a different dr so not sure if it is same with sleeve). I would think SOMEONE would want to see you by now. I would keep calling AND I would complain. Send an email or leave a review for him somewhere on the internet (other than just this site) and you are likely to get a response. In fact, he always pops up as a "Featured Surgeon" on my computer on this site. Hopefully others who used him can weigh in. If you don't see him soon, I would think maybe a follow up with your local PCP might be a good idea.
