Food prep for returning to work
Daisee68 replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Turkey deli meat wrapped around cheese stick. Almonds. Protein shakes. Fat free refried Beans with shredded cheese melted on top. Mr Cheese Os (look on Amazon basically cheese baked in round crackers). Apples and almond butter (you can get individual packs of nut butters). Hope those help. That's all I can come up with right now Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App -

dizziness after bending over or medium exertion
Daisee68 replied to cjfd2006's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh and I just remembered my NUT telling me it was likely the lack of carbs causing it. Do you have some room in your plan to add in some more good carbs (like in Greek yogurt or something)? -
I wish I had some good advice for you. I got laid off from my job in December and I started a new job in March but working from home. I live alone and while I always thought I would love working from home, man am I lonely! Thank goodness for my sister and her kids but still... I knew I liked working for social aspect but I didn't realize how much that affected my mood! Making friends as an adult is hard. My therapist recently suggested finding a class to take (like photography or something). Easier for me to do than you since I don't have a family to care for and yet, I still have not sought that out.... I am sorry your friend isn't speaking to you. Perhaps she will get over whatever it is soon. Maybe you can give her a call and invite her out for a coffee or something soon and talk it out?

@@Sophie74656 - Amen sister! That was one of my favorite NSVs!!

I had bypass but I still think about it too. At one meal it seems I can eat so much and then the next day, barely anything and I am full. It reminds me that I still have restriction and gives me comfort. Just gotta make sure not to eat around the restriction.

The scale may not be moving, but the fat is

What @@KindaFamiliar said. (He is better with words.... ) -
@@mizzzzzzT - 50g is probably not too much. But have you checked out Fairlife Skim milk? It has lower sugar than most. Also, if you are eating sugar free popsicles, there are still 4g carbs in those (from sugar alcohols). Not an issue I think but I just noticed it when I thought I was lower carb and couldn't figure out where they were coming from.

I was going to say the same as @@James Marusek. Bypass will really help you with maintenance. You will just need to be sure to work continually with a NUT and may have to increase your calories faster than some. For what it's worth, I have never lost 30 pounds a month or any of the other crazy numbers people quote. I lost fairly steadily at 12-15 pounds the first few months and then 10ish pounds per month. I am 10 1/2 months post-op and down 110 pounds since surgery. You will just get to goal and move on to maintenance quicker than most of us are able to.

@@Lemm61 - Great news! June 1 will be here before you know it!

Oh, by the way, have you discovered PB2 yet? I just had an evening snack of sugar free dark chocolate pudding snack mixed with 1/2 scoop of chocolate Protein powder (Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate) and 1/2 Tbsp of PB2. It was SOOOO Yummy!! Adding PB2 to some of the shakes might help also if she is a fan of Peanut Butter.

Demand narcotics. That is absurd. There is no reason you should live in pain. It could just land you in the hospital. While it can cause constipation, you just have to manage it and not stay on them forever. The first 5 days can be pretty rough. Some people are able to go without the meds, but better to have them and not use them than to land in the ER with uncontrolled pain.

dizziness after bending over or medium exertion
Daisee68 replied to cjfd2006's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yep. Just posted about same in another thread. Seems to be fairly common. I had a lot of trouble with it early on when I was exercising but not enough calories. I was just plain weak! I am 10 1/2 months post-op and have had the same issue in the last week (oddly since it isn't a lack of calories issue). It should resolve. If you are on BP meds, call the dr and get it checked. In the meantime, just be really careful when standing up too quickly. -
"I didn't recognize you"
Daisee68 replied to Daisee68's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree @@Christinamo7, @@KindaFamiliar is the best!! And I agree - I totally don't recognize other people when I see their pics so you think I would understand this phenomenon, but I do not yet... Now if I would actually post my pics somewhere on here, you could tell me if I really do look THAT different. (Well to be honest, seeing the pics side by side might make me realize that I am unrecognizable...) I still hate pics though, so there is that.... -
It seems quite a few people have this issue. I especially had it early on when trying to exercise but not taking in enough calories. I was just flat out weak. Oddly, I have been having some dizzy spells this last week (I am 10 1/2 months out). It isn't blood pressure or blood sugar or lack of food or fluids, so not quite sure. Just be careful getting up too quickly. It should resolve itself. Oh and I just remembered, my NUT specifically told me it was lack of carbs....

Sounds like good news! Fingers crossed!

I really like the Krave brand. It is VERY tender so especially easier to eat early out.

So much gas pain!
Daisee68 replied to Kimberlyv715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kimberlyv715 - it really is the worse part. I don't remember the amount of med in the strips, but you can take more than 2. I think it is like 75 mg of simethecone per strip and the pills are dosage of 180 mg (sometimes more), so try 3 next time. Tomorrow will look better.... By the way, while I have no explanation for this, absolutely every surgery I have had, the 3rd day (today for you) is the worst day. I took my mom for colonscopy yesterday and I overheard a doctor telling a tonsillectomy patient the same thing and my dad's orthopedic surgeon also said the same. So, take heart, 3rd day is the worst. And certainly after day 5, things let up. Hang in there!! -
What about Laughing Cow cheese wedges? They have a little Protein and are super creamy. That might work. Or sugar free pudding Snacks or yogurt with 1/2 scoop of Protein powder mixed in?

So hungry for real food!
Daisee68 replied to Katie892's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea this is really the tough part. I agree that chewing on ice and/or a sugar free popsicle really helped when I felt that desire to chew. Hang in there. A couple of times, I just had to go to bed and close the door to avoid the kitchen. It does get easier.... -
I love pickles, could it hurt?
Daisee68 replied to DMH82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used the pickle pops in the first couple of weeks post-op too. Really helped with the savory craving and helped get in some fluids. Very high in salt (which I am sure you know) so I probably wouldn't have more than 1 a day (post-op I mean). -
Very frustrated, is this normal?
Daisee68 replied to pramis123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When you say "cannot tolerate", what exactly do you mean? Is it the taste you just cannot tolerate or are you having trouble keeping more solid foods down? If it is the latter, it could be a stricture which can happen around the stage you are at. -
So much gas pain!
Daisee68 replied to Kimberlyv715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry you are miserable. That gas pain is really the worst. You are doing everything you can for it - walking, sipping, gas-x, heating pad. Keep using your pain med and those other things. How much Gas-X are you using? If it is the strips, you will need more than 1 to get any effect. Meanwhile, it is just time and I know that is not what you wanted to hear. You just have to bear it the first few days and by day 5, everything should ease up.... -
It may just be acid. If you were not prescribed a PPI, then take Zantac. I promise it will help!!

Yummy! I had BBQ pulled pork at an outdoor fair today. It was great! I skipped the bun but must have eaten too fast, because I got full and stuck fairly quick. I survived though and it sure was good!
