I am a 52 year old woman in NH. I was born in CT, and though I've lived here in the north for almost 30 years, you'll still hear me say 'I'm going home" when I visit my family in CT. Big, loud Italian family. Is that redundant? I have two girls, teen and tween, and a great man who is husband/father/partner. I am a pretty healthy fat woman, but on the brink of all the things we fear: diabetes, arthritis, cancer? and unwilling to take another step in that direction. So we went to the info session at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in August 2014 and that week I logged in with the nurse at 316. 5 months, 6 pre-op classes, 1 pre-op support session and 1 individual psych session later, I am at 300. 10% of weight loss target lost, check. Ultrasound, chest xray, EKG, check. Endoscopy this week, and a few labs: bring it.
