  1. I was sleeved on June 4th. Boy, they really don't warn you about all the possible little side effects. After surviving gas pains that felt like I was being stabbed and an allergic reaction to the surgical glue which caused all my incisions to blister, I thought I was finally coming out of the woods. But now my new issue is that my lips and sometimes my mouth, are covered with these invisible but painful sores/bumps. They seem to come out mostly after I eat anything. They look like hives. Has anyone experienced anything like this after surgery. It started when I was about 2 weeks post-op and is not getting better. I'm taking all my Vitamins and I'm wondering if it's an allergic reaction to them. Someone mentioned it might be a Vitamin deficiencybut how could that be when I am taking all the vitamins. I'm not using anything new and I'm eating very bland foods, mostly cottage cheese, yogurt and egg beaters. Any ideas?
  2. My incisions itch so bad I want to shred my stomach. I'm 6 days post-op and today is the first day they itched a little less. My incisions also blistered so I went to doc on Monday. Not infected but I had a terrible allergic reaction to gauze under the super sticky bandages they put on during surgery. Taking Benadryl now.

New to this site! Set to be sleeve 6-11-15.

I'm June 3rd too. Sounds like a popular date. It took me forever to get insurance approval. It got to where I didn't think it was going to happen. Now all of a sudden it's two weeks away and I'm excited and nervous and just hoping for the first time in my life, I can do something that will work and stick.

Federal BCBS approval question re: liver biopsy

No. I called the office and they said a liver biopsy is often done during bariatric surgery. So I'm hoping maybe it's a precursor to surgery approval.
  5. Hi guys. It's cooperjack from yesterday. So yesterday, my insurance told me I was approved but when my surgeons office called today to confirm, they said I'm approved for liver biopsy but have not yet been approved for sleeve. What does that mean? Is it a good sign? Why would I need a liver biopsy if they weren't going to approve me. I'm so bummed because I thought I was approved and now they tell me this. Does anyone have any ideas what this means?
  6. My surgeons office submitted my paperwork to BCBS Federal on April 9th. I called yesterday and was told I've been approved for a liver biopsy but still no word on approval for sleeve surgery. Does anyone know what that means? Is that a good sign that the liver biopsy was approved? Why would they approve that and not the surgery? I don't need a stand-alone liver biopsy. Any thoughts.
  7. OMG, I am sitting at my desk staring out the window thinking about nothing other than "Will I be approved???" After reading all your posts, I decided to call my insurance company to check. It's only been a week since my paperwork was submitted to Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield so I was waiting to hear from my doctor. But after hearing from you all, I called and was told I was approved. HOORAY!!!

  9. My last appointment with the dietician was April 1st. They submitted my paperwork to insurance (federal blue cross blue shield) on April 9th and now I wait. I will be absolutely devastated if they deny me. This surgery is all I have thought about for four months straight and I feel is my last hope to have a healthy life. I am keeping my fingers crossed for approval and a May surgery date. Did anyone else have insurance anxiety?
