Concussion/weigh gain/weight loss pills
Stella S replied to Kristin84's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I do not have any information but it sounds like you’re beginning to make really good decisions frequently if I am hungry I drink a glass of water and reas glad you’re healing from the concussions in 20 minutes. -
Coming up on two months but I have not gone to the clinic or the office with any sense of regularity. Spending time at home working more hours than I would have ever imagined. Healthwise I think I’m doing OK sure could use a little bit more sleep! Notice my cardio is down and have been correcting that the last week or so. Trying to eat what is in my house to gain some additional room seems like there is food here from the last couple years- The things to purchased perhaps try or somehow just end up in your house! This is one of life‘s great mysteries along with disappearing socks?

How to get my PCP to referral me for weight loss surgery.
Stella S replied to marti33m's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about finding a weight-loss surgeon and asking for a recommendation of a doctor that takes Medicaid and is supportive of WLS? Working it backwards would hopefully ensure you end up with a primary care physician that is supportive! Keep turning towards Joy and Pursuing health -
A month later and still in jeans. Endless neighborhood walks a focus on work and a total lack of sleep. Feeling the need to focus on protein and carb reduction Endless Atlantic rain has my mood and energy pretty low. My weight is about 132 so that is ok.

When does energy return?

At three weeks I was still in pretty bad shape. I think at two months I was better. I had to rebuild metabolism. -
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ISSUE WITH CARBONATED DRINKS??? & other questions!
Stella S replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What did you decide about the rower? I have one at my gym which I miss. Stationary bike or biking outdoors never gets my heart rate much above 115 120 bpm. Running the rowing machine and elliptical are my go to cardio options. I do cycle for family fun -
At my six month postop appointment I saw another MD on the team and was presented with a $250 bill. - I never went back. I was a self-pay and consider this a breach of contract they had other thoughts. Not my type of healthcare provider. The surgeon was great but I miss judged my follow up care. Your team sounds awesome - chose a Zenter of excellence back in the day. It was organized but never that smooth machine you describe Lately I have been feeling like i might need a little bit of medical support. Strange how easy I can advocate for other people in the medical system - just not myself🎺 How is focused diets going? Sending any positive support your way 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 but I’m at a loss

This WLF life has given so much. I am thankful it gave you that ability to address your health concern that was Hiding. My quality of life has gone up considerably - I have a few new friends and a perspective that life is full of love and laughter. Again I come and go - hopefully want to be around a little bit more.

I am a bit jealous of your bariatric team. Go go! Also focus is a good thing. I used Jay Robb for protien. Be inspired is fitting

Im scared of gaining weight through this crisis
Stella S replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Life right now is uncertain. With uncertainty comes fear. Many of us are faced with our havits, rituals and routines having been upended. Please know you’re not alone at times when life is uncertain and anxieties a rise we can form a new habit or find a positive growth in another area. Try meditating to acknowledge worry with out letting it overtake and hijack your body. There are a lot of really good exercise routines on YouTube and every gym in my area is live streaming! I have been running up until today outside but the track just closed I am going to work on . A 21 day challenge yet to be determined. So sorry everything is scary right now please do not hesitate to reach out. -
Good to hear from all. Yes 5 yeaars this month I think or was it April? I come here in rounds as life happens Still tracking and logging my food with a weight of 127 or so. Always WLS person. 🌼🌞

What's something you wish you had known before losing all the weight?
Stella S replied to BoredFatGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Positive reenforcement that is not food - spa stuff, a piece of clothes or jewelry. A day doing something - painting or such. Learning to make fish patties. Learning to dance. -

Agree - I was stunned the go to was to grab a bite or drink. Never to just take a class go for walk or see a show with no food. Also a ton of dysmorphia. - 5 years later I do not feel thin. -
Did any of you keep your surgery a secret? I have! Please give input!
Stella S replied to Freedom&Bliss's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So I checked and your part of VA is not so close to DC. I viewed my WLS as not a secret which is fundamentally entwined with shame but private. Simply put not everything is public knowledge it’s OK for some things to be private. When we say secret we often are mixing an emotional sense of shame with what ever we do not want as public. Best to you. -
Sounds like a trip to the MD is warranted. Not sure if you are still in contact with your original surgeon but I know for me I would start with my internist and go to a different G.I. surgeon. No contact with WLS since 2015

Are Plastics Pretty Much Inevitable?
Stella S replied to kc892020's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Loose skin was inevitable. Plastics were my choice. -
Discouraged and need advice
Stella S replied to Seimmaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you’re not happy with the results change the plan. The choice is yours - what has worked for the majority is cutting out refined processed sugars. If you remain unpleased with your progress I recommend changing it up. The choice is yours the journey is yours the results are yours. Best -
Very fond of getting a second opinion... especially when it comes to anything surgery related. Add the fact that you’re not underweight and meeting nutrition goals. Sounds like a good reason not to have a bariatric surgeon and a nutritionist treat anomalies with the cliver.

Surgery is often a game changer Just needing it then recovery. Welcome back Other exercise possibilities?
